  • Sam Newman interviewed AFL Legend Mark Williams. A former Australian rules football player and coach. As a player, Williams represented West Adelaide and Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), as well as Collingwood and Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL), from the 1970s to the 1990s.
    One of several successful father-son combinations in Australian rules football, Williams became a successful coach after finishing his playing career, leading Port Adelaide to their first AFL premiership in 2004.
    Sam Newman' is a former Australian rules footballer and television personality. Today is more know for his wit, sarcasm, and not afraid to voice his opinion on life. His popular podcast "You Cannot Be Serious" has move than 11 million downloads. He played for the Geelong Football Club in the AFL from 1964 to 1980. He was known for his versatility on the field, playing in various positions including ruckman, forward and defender.

    Hey Sam,
    I have always appreciated your look on life and not being swayed by convention.
    Yes Eddie is a great bloke.
    But tell me how in this day and age with political correctness, how Mark Williams is still referred to as Choco ? on television by peers, noting that children watch these broadcasts, and look up to many to speak this way. I understand maybe a term of endearment and well accepted and not fussed by Mark Williams, however children would listen/view out of context and maybe think its ok to use with others they know/ associate with or directed to others.
