U can actually deflate the life vest as well by pushing down on the valve/button on top of the oral tubes where u blow in to it. Push down on the valve and it will deflate and u can either reuse it or just to make it a little more comfortable without being to tight.
Great demo, I actually just got a couple of these basic life preservers new in case I have to ditch, but I'm not sure if I'm actually supposed to open the package and pull the yellow vest out or if that somehow voids it for actual use.

I’ve got an ex-demo one at home used for training, it has some differences but in the whole, the same principles apply. It’s the carbon dioxide cylinders that tend to perish, that and the battery. Let’s say you’re already submerged once you get out of the plane can you use the life vest immediately. Will it pull you to the surface if you’re already underwater.
That would depend on if you are tried down to anything holding you back. Once under water technically it should inflate and then bring you to the surface. But, there are so many variables that could prevent that.
