CR 9 Swimming to La Leona Waterfall and Hiking at Rincón National Park Costa Rica

This is our last stop in Costa Rica! The Rincon area is close to Libera (airport)! Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park in Costa Rica offers the 2KM Las Pailas hiking trail that is very easy. It takes you through various volcanic activities like steam vents, gas pools and mud pots. In the rainy season the trail offers a beautiful waterfall however during the dry season, when we went, it was a mere trickle. The park has monkeys that you may see if you are lucky. This region is very hot and one of the best ways to cool off is by adventuring to La Leona waterfall. This waterfall is impressive sitting in a canyon that you need to swim to get to. It is a moderate hike involving variety of terrain along with swimming against swift currents. There are other sites to see along this hike such as bat caves.
