GLORY 11 Chicago - Tyrone Spong vs. Nathan Corbett (Full Video)

  • This rematch was several years in the making and was one of the most anticipated encounters of 2013. When these two first met back in 2009, Corbett knocked Spong down and the referee had actually waved off the fight. But Corbett thought he was being waved on to continue and so he went after Spong again, with the fight eventually being recorded as a No Contest because of that. Corbett had the power and size advantage in the first encounter but the 2013 Spong was a completely different animal. To his credit, Spong has always said he considers the fight to be a legitimate KO loss. He used the rematch to even the score by stopping Corbett with devastatingly fast and powerful left hooks. Spong's timing and distancing were impeccable in the evening's headline fight, creating one of the best finishes of 2013.

    Went to this event live. I believe this was the first event on spike tv. I was sitting right in front of the ring and those punches were So LOUD. First time I attended a live event and there’s nothing like a combat sports event. I’ve been to nfl games, nba games, this was the best experience I’ve had. Something about two dudes going to war.

      To be honest, Tyrone Spong and Nathan Corbett are 2 of the hardest and most explosive punchers and strikers that you could ever witness inside of the ring.
      The sound of the shots even watching through the screen here is much louder than 99.9% of fights that I watch, maybe even 99.99% of fights, lol!

    nathan corbett is a legit top quality muay thai fighter with some vicious elbows. Tyrong spong is one of the greatest kickboxers in the world with a great skills in boxing, kickboxing and muay thai roots from one of the all time greats ernesto hoost.
    Tyrone has better guard defense and doesn't hesitate to counter. Of all the muay thai fighters and kickboxers including lumpinee champions, Tyrone is one of the greatest. He showcased no flaw.

      Corbett is a muai thai fighter. He would kill spong if he could use his biggest weapon. His elbows. And spong juiced to the gills could only tko Corbett under a set of rules that protected him from Corbett’s man weapon. Corbett KO’d him stiff in the first bout

    • @bennyz5515
      @bennyz5515 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Doe lol the first fight he was a young kid before his prime and fought with a broken hand, and he still knocked him down one time. And he wasnt juiced you fool. And those are the rules of Glory, so what? Its kickboxing not muay thai. Its like saying Corbett would be killed if he fought a mma fighter who would take him down. Besides that, Spong fought in mma before, he would beat this guy anyway lol

    • @JohnDoe-ij7et
      @JohnDoe-ij7et 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      benny z
      I know spong wasn’t juiced in the first fight, but he was calling Corbett out, Corbett is a muai thai specialist. Spong refused to fight him in a muai thai match, so Corbett still met him under glory rules n knocked him the fuck out, I don’t care if he was young. He clearly juiced himself to the gills to get to the size he did. I know it’s exactly the same as Corbett would get destroyed in an mma fight. But Corbett wasn’t calling out any mma fighters, he knows he’s not an mma fighter. My point is y call someone out, demand a but refuse to fight them in their discipline. Corbett has his prime weapon taken away from him in glory rules. I know Corbett only went to glory for the money. Point is, he is a muai thai legend. Not a kick boxer, Corbett agreed to fight him multiple times but spong would not fight him in a thai ring. Think whatever u want, laugh at me think I’m some nutter on TH-cam. I live in Robina, Gold Coast Australia, I personally know a lot of Nathan’s friends. I have met Nathan socially numerous times between 2003 n 2014. I know exactly the bullshit that was going on with spong calling for the fight but refusing to fight him in a muai thai match. It’s a bitch move. It is exactly like u said, it’s the same as Nathan calling out an mma fighter n he would get destroyed if he fought in an mma match. So I simply don’t agree with spongs call outs before the first fight but not fighting Nathan in muai thai. Bitch move, n he still got knocked the fuck out. The man with the golden elbows would annihilate spong n saki in a muai that ring.

      @06livefast 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sergio ruben ricard Absolutely. Pedro is a perfectionist with the fundamentals which is very rare for boxing trainers in America. Al of his fighters have excellent fundamentals and that is where he trains his fighters to use angles, to be comfortable fighting both traditional and southpaw, using defense and fighting with your MIND. IT alwso helps that Tyrone has an excellent grasp of the fundamentals to begin with, being a 9-time world champion kickboxer with a ton of experience, who was already very well trained (the dutch teach excellent boxing fundamentals with their kickboxers) so it wouldn't be too difficult build on that talent and gear it towards pure boxing. Tyrone has a lot of power but what is under-looked is his ability to always be out of danger and out of range of his opponents power shots. He is excellent at striking hard, then moving to the opponents' weak side so that when the opponent strieks back he is either off balance and loses power, or he is out of range and can only jab and then shell up to defend Tryone's counter punching abilities.

      Also don't forget that Spong was totally destroying Corbett in the first fight and even dropped him twice before Corbett landed that punch out of nowhere while spong was still beating the shit out of him.

    Spong would lose in Muay Thai. Can you believe Spong refused to fight Corbett in Thai Rules at Muay thai show what a joke! It was the only K1 rules fight at the show.

      He's probably referring to the first fight in which Tyrone is afraid of Muay Thai , and I agree, Nathan is devastating with elbows, just ask Clifton Brown.
