Elected leaders need to learn how to say “NO” to Big Oil money.
In this instructional video, @waltermasterson and @edgyalbert show how it’s done.
Your vote for climate leaders also helps politicians turn down tempting giant checks from oil companies who are actively murdering life on earth as we know it.

"My name is , and I say 'NO' to corporate lobbyists and genocidal freaks."
"just say 'no' " nostalgia achievement, unlocked
epic climate change level up, wahoo!
Yeah bro I'm so nostalgic for systemic issues in society 🥵
Fun fact: LBJ was once offered an extremely large amount of money in the form of an investment to a Texas oil company and he turned it down because he said "If people find out I'm connected to oil it'll kill me politically"
Oh, how times have changed…
This is missing context though. He got a ton of money from George and Herman brown, whose construction business Brown & Root profited immensely from LBJ’s influence. While it’s not oil money directly, it still matters
More context: This was actually a strange statement to say since he was from Texas, where Oil was so politically dominant it couldn't actually hurt him there, and he had previously said that he only wanted to become a Senator. That was how Big oil realized he wanted to be President, because that absolutely would have hurt him.
It's a good thing big oil doesn't have enough money to just "replace" you...
Yeah, that's the bigger issue. That campaign money translates almost directly into votes. When a representative isn't for sale, the seat still is.
@@excrubulent Anybody know where the execs hang out? Asking for a friend.
@@lilwyvern4 Execs are even more replaceable than politicians.
At some point, the only replacements available will hate them even more than the current representative.
The trick is to remember these guys are killing the place you live. No matter where that is on the planet.
@@lilwyvern4 There are even more vast reservoirs of execs.
Big Oil HATES this one simple trick!!

'Oops oops' 😂😂😂
What if someone takes money from big oil and then votes yes on policies that hurt big oil. Virtually just using big oil as a stepping stone. If politicians lie, then it must be pretty easy to do that to a faceless corporation.
It probably happens sometimes but big oil isn't going to keep falling for it.
You can do it once, but if you want to win reelection, you can bet that check will be going to your opponent next time.
@@Antifinity Imagine if the opponent then does the exact same thing you did. And all the ones that follow.
This is how we take back control: By realizing it was ours all along. Why be loyal to a company that has no loyalty to anything or anyone?
@@hazukichanx408as if people had enough morality to do such a thing and not just let greed get the better of them. Something like that is genuinely impossible.
Fun fact: That used to happen until the 70s when they passed a transparency bill through Congress. Basically, before this bill, there wasn't actually any way to know if an individual congressman voted yes or no on a given vote. Since the bill passed, corporations had way more time and resources to watch these votes compared to the average citizen so these types of politicians were more easily punished if they went against their donors. There was a whole documentary about this but I forgot the name.
Just pulled a little oopsie-daisy and damned the planet for a tacky 6-bedroom mansion in bumblefuck, VA, tee-hee~ ❤
It happens to all of us. Don't be ashamed.

You forgot to add "UwU"
"Oops. Oops!" If only most humans were capable of such realization and change of mind.
Big pharma next!!
Nice! Glad to see Walter Masterson in this!
Easier said than done. All big oil gotta do is ask Mossad to dig up some dirt on you and threaten you with it until you accept the donation. Many such cases!
It raises many questions. For example, why did his door have "U S Congress" written on it facing towards him? Would that imply that he worked outside of the U.S. Congress, or does it instead implicate that he would only want people leaving his office to remember? Curious. 🤔🧐
This is a good one! I think we should dig in a bit on why politicians are doing it, but maybe in a different format. Greed isn't the only answer. In HS we learned that in order to work in D.C. Congress, you basically need to own 2 houses. Lets start there and work our way back to understand when people are just blatantly being corrupt or just trying to play the game the way it's always been played.
this doesn’t mean it’s not greed
That's what I'm getting at. If there is an inherent need for greed, we have a much bigger problem than individuals making poor choices. Greed is a judgment after the fact. We need to understand the incentive for acting badly to push for proper solution.
@@alexwixom4599 the problem imo, is that in a totally commodified society money is about as close to pure power as one has ever been able to get in history. In previous eras money could only buy some certain kinds of things, but now that money and money alone can get you pretty much everything it makes sense that the politician and the businessperson have the same interests, goals, and methods.
Its greed and power. The game also hasn't always been played this way.
@@alexwixom4599yeah systemic problems require systemic solutions. Perhaps a couple nice appartment buildings for their stay in dc and try to make the legislative seasons more conducive to accomadating that.
I'm proud to say I've never owned a car in my life. I specifically chose to live in a city where I don't need one and have easy access to everything from food to medical services.
With the money I saved, I bought my own house. I'm in my mid-40s, and my cost of living is so low that I'm semi-retired.
Saying no to the oil industry and cars, and yes to public transportation and infrastructure, is a ticket out of the rat race.
Make sure you make it publicly look like you say no and then take the money in secret, then its a win win! (Or just drink all the oil)
I can't stop drinking crude oil.
@@TheModdedwarfare3Can't blame you, it's delicious
What if you... accept the money and vote against them anyway

Politicians need to learn from twitch streamers. "Thanks for the uhh $500k dono EvilBigOilMan, anyway I'm banning fracking now."
Of course you can do the Teddy Roosevelt thing and accep the money, and do anti-corporation things anyway.
I mean, most of the time what actually happens nowadays is that jobs are promised to people in exchange for policy, which is far harder to control for. Politicians are, by definition, ambitious people who are always considering their next move.
We need so many "how to" videos from the public addressed to every office of govt at every level.
Walter taught me so much in so little time since I've subscribed to his channel
Just say no to BIG TECH money!
I love it when people actually call out what oil companies do as homocide. It is.
You could also argue Genocide of just all humans. I think we need to make a different word for that, maybe, like, extinction? Its probably fine though right?
Well there is ecocide if you want a fancy word for it.
It does make anything we do in retaliation legally self defense
I'm on a first name basis with my city council. Gonna send this next time they piss me off
Individuals and corporations can donate a maximum of $3300 to a candidate. There is no concept of a candidate "Accepting" or "Declining" big oil money, the mechanism by which big business influences elections is via Super PACs, which are protected free speech and candidates have no sway over.
If we want to have a real political impact, which presumably the creators hope to, we need to have a sophisticated understanding of our systems and make coherent requests of our leaders. Your democratic officials want to act in alignment with the will of their constituents, we need to give them an actionable path forward
Can you release a video on how to say no to AIPAC money
Cesspool! Cesspool! Cesspool! Cesspool!
Pulls no punches. Love it!
America has a LOT of toxic relationships, and by toxic, I mean shitty gambles that are actively losing the state money. Apparently the imminent disasters and future inhospitability of our planet isn't compelling enough of a message. However, these people get millions to back the fossil fuel lobby, but even without large scale inhospitibality, the increase in dangerous storms, landslides, and droughts will cause billions in damages.
Similarly, the car lobby will push projects for oversized highway structures we have to pay to maintain, meanwhile the firms that pitched and developed the project NOT only get an upfront payment, but all the profit from tolls as well (Incase you thought that money went to maintaining the roads. No, it's basically a loan paid with interest)
It's frustrating cause there's a ton of ways these bastards could earn way more money that they likely deserve AND NOT piss away state and federal budgets. It's almost like they WANT to continue eroding the state and make the life of the average citizen worse... But that couldn't be PART of the plan, could it?
People on both sides sell out like this, however its just a little more ironic that the party of small government, of shrinking taxes, of removing safety net programs to "shrink the budget", really love partnering with companies designed to siphon AS MUCH state funds as they can get away with, and policies that doomed us to a constant cycle of repairing our terrible infrastructure.
Why can't they except the generous donation and then hold the companies accountable
Currently 99% those running for office: Instructions unclear.

Nice Pic of Spencer, Iowa flooding from June 2024. That Casey's is NOT going to reopen, BTW.

Oops indeed
This is cute and funny, but there’s a big problem you’re overlooking. A void you’re not filing. There’s a money-shaped hole in this picture. The whole reason they are taking money from these lobbyists in the first place. What are you going to replace that money with? Rainbows and unicorn kisses? You need something better. Something more compelling. Something that speaks to their self interests.
Eliminate the void completely by implementing campaign finance reform.
Amazing, more videos like these, please!

|Ceasefires 2008-oct. 2023|
2008: operation Cast Lead. Israel violated ceasefire when they invaded Gaza and killed Hamas leaders.....
2012: During ceasefire, Israel assassinated Hamas leader Ahmed Jabari, destroying the peace.....
2014: During ceasefire, three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and killed by a militia who admitted (likely by torture) to being Hamas, but most Palestinian sources argue this was done by the Qawasmeh family, not Hamas. A Hamas leader (in Turkey) took credit but many believe it was for clout.....
2018: Israel shot and killed several caged protesters, breaking ceasefire.....
May 2021: Hamas fired 4,000 rockets into Israel, but only after mass killings, mass arrests and mass deportations in Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah, which broke ceasefire.....
2022: Israel broke ceasefire when they systematically targeted PIJ leaders.....
May 2023: A PIJ leader died following a hunger strike to win his release. Hamas and the PIJ warned that his death would break ceasefire.
Can anyone definitely say Israel hasn't violated even one ceasefire? Can anyone definitely say Hamas has even violated one?
"On 1 December [2023], the truce ended with Hamas alleging that Israel rejected a hostage exchange deal to prolong the truce, and Hamas then launched rockets into Sderot"

wait, which side is promoting the idea of climate change, and which side is getting paid by big oil?
it's just two different opposing rackets really. On one side is the legacy energy racket who want to manipulate politics for their own gain. On the other is the new energy racket who want to take up the legacy energy racket's market share. Climatism is just a trojan horse, CO2 isn't really the threat most people think it is anyway.

I love oil. A lot.
melt an icecube in a cup and tell me if the liquid in the cup increases or decreases
The south pole isnt ice on water, its ice on land. So if that melts it will drain into the ocean and raise the levels.
Glaciers, the ice and snow of alaska, scandinavia, greenland and the south pole, are water masses outside the oceans. Imagine holding that ice cube over a cup and see if the liquid in the cup increases once the ice cube melts into it.
The ice that is melting isn't in the water though.
And even if we ignored the massive amount of ice melting, there are still other problems climate change is causing, like increased heatwaves, extinction, ect.
@@2MeterLP That isn't what the climate science says, the science is that the glaciers are melting due to rising water temperatures. The sun doesnt melt the ice directly as it reflects the rays (hence why you get sunburn when you go ski'ing).
@@stammesbruder again, rising ambient and water temperatures, ambient temps are not rising in poles its the water temps. This is expected behaviour during a polar shift
Wait, you're not being ironic when you blame oil companies for every natural disaster. That's some Aztec sun god sacrifices level of ignorance

I love heating my house without having to chop down a forest. It's the best. I will always vote yes for oil.
There are multiple alternative methods for heating without oil or wood, btw.
Do you live in the 1800s or something?
Here in the modern day we have plenty of alternatives to cutting down wood or using oil.
Back when the poor had a shared identity and a backbone they could have stopped this. Now that the poor are divided, there is nothing to cling to but money. Everyone is a grifter now even the desperately poor.
Self-employed people stabbing other people in the back is no new phenomenon.
For an extreme we can look at Germany in 1933 where a large amount of votes for the party of a certain Austrian were of the self-employed people.
