every time I watch one of your mechanic type videos I learn something. this time it was the fact the little LED light you were using has a magnet on it. a few months ago a customer came in the cigar shop and gave me three LED battery powered lights, one is exactly like the one you were using here. after new batteries it is a bright little work light and I was using the hanger. after watching this video I went down to the shop to work on a mower and checked. sure enough it has a magnet on it. you mentioned the book gave you the part number for the seal seating tool, without that tool it is near impossible to seat the seal for a positive leak free seal. glad you had the tool and the owner of the tractor will be too. great video Jake... :)
that was a verry good vide Jake. only changed one rear main seal in a tractor. it didnt leak before we changed it. but had it split so we changed it then it leaked for a while but quit leaking on its own. nice video showing how to change rear seal.
Nice! I like the seal installer! Much better than using a oven to heat the wear seal like I used to do on pinions, but that a different seal I’d say. Quite a bit of useful information here
Definitely something you want to do when you get down to that point, I know that seal isn't cheap but it's a pain to get to if it starts leaking! Thanks for sharing Jake
Nice! you would be amazed how many people would do a clutch job and not put that seal in. lol thats a tough wear ring. I found it faster over the years to pop the little housing off, use a chisel and give it a couple strikes at several points around it to expand it like you said and they slide off. No wrong way to remove it as long as the housing and crank dont get scratched!
Nice toolbox! Have you ever done a shop overview of your stuff? I'm in the market for a bigger box and I'm torn about 10 different ways. Looks like that installer works slick! Good video! Thanks for sharing!
burningdinosaurs thanks I bought it used. Got a heck of a deal. It’s a snap on. If u will use it as a work bench much like it do. I’d get the 27” deep one I think that’s what it is. If all ur gona do is store tools one of the shallower ones will be fine. No I haven’t done a video. Thanks for watching
now that looks like a handy tool to have! and easy to use haha. Now you can split a tractor and put a clutch in but you can't put batteries in your flash light lol
C&J FARMS thanks I called about it Sunday. I was ready to go get it but then I talked to some people and they said they don’t fluff the hay like a basket rake and it’s hard to flip the windrow so I decided to keep looking for a 107 or 207
Jake neat trick of cutting the seal to get it out and the seal setter now that neat also but can see how difficult it would be cutting a piece out without damaging an other part.
I poured a new floor in my shop quite a while back and the first job was the neighbor putting a rear main in his 4430. Had it split on some John Deere splitting stands made by deere that I thought looked a little taco engineered. Rear half hit the floor and gouged the concrete pretty good. He looked at the tractor right away and I looked at the floor. Lol
@@fredf3391 Because I wasn't the one doing the job. Not sure what Vegas has to do with shop work but if its comparable to what goes on in Vegas I'm sure people are glad you keep it to yourself

Surprisingly the tractor was fine, and it just put a little gouge in the floor about two inches by twelve. He used the dealers seal tool and when he brought it back they had a 4020 in the shop with the same stands. The guy said ya a 4020 is about the biggest tractor he would split on those stands. All it was was a course threaded rod down to a single caster wheel with a strap going to both axle housing bolts with about two inch long beads holding the dolly wheel on. I think a floor jack would have been quite a bit better.

Another thing John Deere does is use the same seal in all the tractors. I have put the same seal in a 2550, 2130. And they all use the same tool.

mr Bill oh wow!!! That is chinsey! I used a splitting stand like that once. It was for a farmall H lol
