    According too this analysis I think it's safe to say that early to mid 2000s was era when it was the hardest to collect stats, defense had the most impact on the game and pace was the slowest. Basically, some forms of hand checking + zone defense were both allowed making it as hard as possible on offensive players.

    • @TheeWaddles
      @TheeWaddles 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say between the implementation of zone defense and the removal of hand checking would be the most difficult time for offense. So like 91-04? Or something close to that.

  • @BrokenMask100

    A major rule change caused by a single player was George Mukan. When teams started trying to slow down the game, that was when the league brought in the 24 second clock. (They didn't want any more games to end with a score of 19-18)

    • @rileymrr1

      Yes George Mikan is responsible for the 24 second clock. He’s the Laker with the most championships...6. And he is 7-0 in total championships. Also has 1 college title.
      Also goal tending and widening the lane from 6 to 12 feet inspired by Mikan.

    • @toddstevens13
      @toddstevens13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rileymrr1 You do not mean that there was a player who ups Michael Jordan's 6-0 in Championships. Well using the Michael's fanbase that is why Jordan is the GOAT, sooooo then I guess Mikan would then have to be the GOAT, since the Michael's say so, no?

    • @rileymrr1
      @rileymrr1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@toddstevens13
      9o% of the people who follow basketball never heard of George Mikan and don’t know what his accomplishments are. This GOAT ranking is based a lot on popularity, like ability and coming on the scene at the right time. For example…Elgin Baylor has the 2nd highest scoring average for a season ever at 38ppg. He was doing the Euro step back in the 50’s. Could dunk with ease. But because he came along years before cable tv, the internet, Sports Center and the like he doesn’t get his due.

    We need to remember that Zaza also inspired a rule change that kept Luka out of the All Star Game as a rookie. When Zaza almost made the West starting line up as a scrub, the NBA changed the voting rules from "just fans" to include votes from players and media. These changes resulted in Luka's fan votes as a rookie being marginalized by the players and media who kept him out of the starting line up, and by the coaches who didn't include him among the bench.

    TBH I would classify Giannis as a "true big man" in this day. Guards the post and basically only scores at the rim... But even if not, I don't think the big man has been phased out. Big men are simply required to be better now. You can't be big, fat, slow and lazy... and STILL put up MVP numbers just because you're enormous. You need to develop more skill.
    KAT, Giannis, Embiid, AD, Porzingis, and yes, even Jokic, are all excelling. Only guys like Glen Davis got really phased out. And I'd argue they didn't belong in the first place.
