They both play in the most competitive era of MD with the likes of Tan/Koo, Cai yun/Fuhaifeng, Yong dae/jaesung/Yoo yeon song, Boe/Moegensen, Zhang nan/Fu haifeng, Kido/setiawan/Ahsan. bro I am Malaysian but to be honest, i still can't believed Ahsan/Hendra lost Olympic Tokyo Bronze Medal Match to Aaron / Yik! I watched that game, Hendra was immaculate and outrageously smart during 1st set, gliding towards 21st with ease with Ahsan. but at 2nd and 3rd, it seems Hendra had something in mind - lots of lots of unforced errors!! as if 1st set Hendra were totally different person..I will never forget that match!

@@zackzickry7106 After the Olympics, Hendra admitted that nowday's players really like to play fast and Hendra seems to be having a little trouble dealing with those who are fast. for your information hendra was quite surprised when he found out that chia-wooi yik was playing quite fast at that time maybe that was what made him different in sets 2 & 3 because he was confused about what tactics to balance the fast game with.

Good thing about Malaysian is we are multi-lingual, we can speak Malay with Indonesian players, at the same time can speak Mandarin and Cantonese with China and Hong Kong players plus speaking English with the European and Japanese players. Sometimes we also heard they speak Mandarin with Mandarin speaking European players together with the Chinese players from China in social media.

yg saya perhati, permainan front court hendra / ahsan cukup bagus. 'touch' depan net memang cantek. a lot to do w quality of the shots n composure i feel. walaupun usia ada lanjut sikit, permainan kat depan tak makan byk tenaga. bijak. kalau tak menang point kat depan net pun, sentuhan halus hendra / ahsan slalu akan memaksa lawan lift bola.
Saya tonton dari awal video hingga akhir tanpa skip. Ahsan sangat rendah hati cara bicaranya, dia selalu sangat tidak setuju bila dipuji, Ahsan menjaga sikap dan tidak mau lawan bicaranya seolah lebih rendah darinya. Dia pantas dijadikan salah satu contoh sikap.

I have often tell me people including younger Malaysians and Indonesians that Malay and Indonesian is one and the same language and those who argue otherwise are delusional . There may be dialectical differences but Ahsan and TBH can converse wonderfully with each other and TBH is even using largely Malay creole or Bhs Pasar. Other aspects is I am quite surprised that Ahsan feels the Indonesian defensive aspect is not as good as Malaysians, I always thought Indonesians have good defensive tactics and is surprised that Hendra was not comfortable defending. I also hoped Ahsan would give his views on Malaysian style if play particularly when he used to play vs TBH as Ahsan and his various partners used to have problems with TBH.
Indonesian's md is famous for their pressuring attacks, the only indonesian md pair with solid defensive style are the world no1 kevin and gideon. And if you observe closely, hendra's style arent actually defensive, but he's placing the shuttle in such weird and surprising manners so that the opponent cant return or return the shuttle half court and his partner could kill it. That's why hendra's partner always a hard hitter (kido and ahsan)
@@badmintongod72 everything u said is good except one.. The minions defense.. Their defense is good but not that solid, the weakest link is obviously Gideon in term of defense once more. Its not a secret anymore, almost every opponents know about it but somehow they cant exploit it cause Kevin keep creating an offensive mode especially against The Big hitter. Even me as Indonesian Can say only Kevin n Fajar as the high rank who have great defense.. Nowadays some young Indo players r so good in that kind of skill.

Kevin's play style are often wild and doesnt goes to opponent's backcourt, and that is dangerous if he and his partner (gideon) doesnt have good defense. Gideon's defense actually are pretty solid, his flat drive are underrated too, even gillian clark and steen said gideon's defense is underrated and often overshadowed by kevin's wild playstyle. The only weak point of gideon is his smash is too weak for a backcourt player (imo) fortunately kevin's flat drives always put gideon's in favorable smashing position
As a person who live in Sumatra island in Indonesia, I feel no any diffculty to understand a pure malay language. But somehow my malaysian friends feel so difficult to speak Malay, n we end it with speaking english lol. I don't want to say that Indo r not good in defending, but their strength is attack. Really surprised hearing that hendra isnt confident about his defense and learned how to defend from tbh, bcs i always thought hendra's defense is very solid. But now that i think about it, hendra's playing style arent exactly defensive, but more towards placement
Bukan ga confident, tapi kebanyakan kalau bermain defens terus²an ditakutkan akan kalah tanpa terkecuali, harus ada perpaduan attack juga dan placemen, pukulan harus variatif kalau mau menang bukan cuma mengandalkan defens atau attack, dan hendra ini tipe pemain yang variatif.
Kalo mereka (Ahsan/Hendra) masih main di olimpic menang g menang , harus di beri penghargaan. Apapun itu !!! Semua orang pasti merindukannya , kalo mereka berdua pergi dari dunia badminton secara pemain pro.

it seems this pair went through and survived in varoius generations of great players, still playing one of the Best badminton at their age. What make it Exciting, the way they played it, is so different and nice to watch. Thiose days big smashes were really huge, when one need to Have real good defence to survive. Good defence means not Just defending by lifting it back, but you guide and place the shuttle Where you want it, absorbing the defence, and turn it around to attack it. They do it as if it is so easy, eventhough at very high pace and Intensity. This pair has it all. Their opponent TBH , Fu hai Fung, Lee yong dae, and other fellow Indo pairs etc etc, and later generations of China pairs (you name it), and now, current top pairs ie Malaysia, japanese and China pairs, other younger Indo pairs,, but ahsan and setiawan pair is still challenging like "beat me if you can". Few years back, pbsi released them because they think they were too old, then back to pbsi, start winning big tournament Again. I hope this pair Will still be playing as long as possible, or badminton world Will miss them. They are like Roger Federer in tennis, i mean some sort. Awesome.

Especially Hendra ever said that After Winning Thomas Cup last year, they will retire peacefully so this is one of a sign that the time will come someday as soon as we expect only we don't know when it would happened

Good thing about Malaysian is we are multi-lingual, we can speak Malay with Indonesian players, at the same time can speak Mandarin and Cantonese with China and Hong Kong players plus speaking English with the European and Japanese players. Sometimes we also heard they speak Mandarin with Mandarin speaking European players together with the Chinese players from China in social media.
No doubt, malaysian Chinese can be a spy everywhere they go😂😂

yg saya perhati, permainan front court hendra / ahsan cukup bagus. 'touch' depan net memang cantek. a lot to do w quality of the shots n composure i feel. walaupun usia ada lanjut sikit, permainan kat depan tak makan byk tenaga. bijak. kalau tak menang point kat depan net pun, sentuhan halus hendra / ahsan slalu akan memaksa lawan lift bola.
Saya tonton dari awal video hingga akhir tanpa skip.
Ahsan sangat rendah hati cara bicaranya, dia selalu sangat tidak setuju bila dipuji, Ahsan menjaga sikap dan tidak mau lawan bicaranya seolah lebih rendah darinya. Dia pantas dijadikan salah satu contoh sikap.

I have often tell me people including younger Malaysians and Indonesians that Malay and Indonesian is one and the same language and those who argue otherwise are delusional . There may be dialectical differences but Ahsan and TBH can converse wonderfully with each other and TBH is even using largely Malay creole or Bhs Pasar. Other aspects is I am quite surprised that Ahsan feels the Indonesian defensive aspect is not as good as Malaysians, I always thought Indonesians have good defensive tactics and is surprised that Hendra was not comfortable defending. I also hoped Ahsan would give his views on Malaysian style if play particularly when he used to play vs TBH as Ahsan and his various partners used to have problems with TBH.
Indonesian's md is famous for their pressuring attacks, the only indonesian md pair with solid defensive style are the world no1 kevin and gideon. And if you observe closely, hendra's style arent actually defensive, but he's placing the shuttle in such weird and surprising manners so that the opponent cant return or return the shuttle half court and his partner could kill it. That's why hendra's partner always a hard hitter (kido and ahsan)
@@badmintongod72 everything u said is good except one.. The minions defense.. Their defense is good but not that solid, the weakest link is obviously Gideon in term of defense once more. Its not a secret anymore, almost every opponents know about it but somehow they cant exploit it cause Kevin keep creating an offensive mode especially against The Big hitter. Even me as Indonesian Can say only Kevin n Fajar as the high rank who have great defense.. Nowadays some young Indo players r so good in that kind of skill.
@@sololevelling9972if u're indonesian and u said gideon's defense are weak, u definitely dont know anything abt what a good defense is. Kevin's play style are often wild and doesnt goes to opponent's backcourt, and that is dangerous if he and his partner (gideon) doesnt have good defense. Gideon's defense actually are pretty solid, his flat drive are underrated too, even gillian clark and steen said gideon's defense is underrated and often overshadowed by kevin's wild playstyle. The only weak point of gideon is his smash is too weak for a backcourt player (imo) fortunately kevin's flat drives always put gideon's in favorable smashing position
As a person who live in Sumatra island in Indonesia, I feel no any diffculty to understand a pure malay language. But somehow my malaysian friends feel so difficult to speak Malay, n we end it with speaking english lol.
I don't want to say that Indo r not good in defending, but their strength is attack. Thats the philosophy, culture or what ever it is.. AS long as Herry IP is the head coach, that philosophy will keep existing

Really surprised hearing that hendra isnt confident about his defense and learned how to defend from tbh, bcs i always thought hendra's defense is very solid. But now that i think about it, hendra's playing style arent exactly defensive, but more towards placement
Bukan ga confident, tapi kebanyakan kalau bermain defens terus²an ditakutkan akan kalah tanpa terkecuali, harus ada perpaduan attack juga dan placemen, pukulan harus variatif kalau mau menang bukan cuma mengandalkan defens atau attack, dan hendra ini tipe pemain yang variatif.
Kalo mereka (Ahsan/Hendra) masih main di olimpic menang g menang , harus di beri penghargaan. Apapun itu !!!

it seems this pair went through and survived in varoius generations of great players, still playing one of the Best badminton at their age. What make it Exciting, the way they played it, is so different and nice to watch.
Thiose days big smashes were really huge, when one need to Have real good defence to survive. Good defence means not Just defending by lifting it back, but you guide and place the shuttle Where you want it, absorbing the defence, and turn it around to attack it. They do it as if it is so easy, eventhough at very high pace and Intensity.
This pair has it all. Their opponent TBH , Fu hai Fung, Lee yong dae, and other fellow Indo pairs etc etc, and later generations of China pairs (you name it), and now, current top pairs ie Malaysia, japanese and China pairs, other younger Indo pairs,, but ahsan and setiawan pair is still challenging like "beat me if you can". Few years back, pbsi released them because they think they were too old, then back to pbsi, start winning big tournament Again.
I hope this pair Will still be playing as long as possible, or badminton world Will miss them. They are like Roger Federer in tennis, i mean some sort.
