It's funny how plastic and polycaps behave differently based on the color it's made with. You occasionally get these alternative colored polycaps and their properties are just totally different, either stiffer or softer, but both worse than the standard greys they usually come in.
It all comes down to the chemical make ups of the plastic colorings. Metallic plastics, for instance, are notorious for being brittle, and tend to just outright disintegrate within 2 decades. I'll never understand the obsession with releasing clear variants of kits either. Clear plastic is prone to coloring from light exposure, AND also becomes more brittle as time passes. Small details, like Wing's chest crystal, fine, but load bearing connections and joints are destined to shatter one day.
@@secretasianman108 > Metallic plastics, for instance, are notorious for being brittle, and tend to just outright disintegrate within 2 decades This is because the old method of making metallic plastics involved trying to inject metallic shavings into the plastic molding - essentially injecting impurities (that don't properly bond with plastic) into the plastic that degrade the integrity of the part. This problem has been mostly solved in the toy industry over the last 5 years or so as companies are more frequently putting out metallic plastic toys that don't immediately shatter. > I'll never understand the obsession with releasing clear variants of kits either. @@Madara8989 If anything ever breaks I just repair it by drilling little holes and putting a little wire in it and glue it back together. I just built the "Honoo" variant of this kit (and repainted it to look like Starscream in his coronation getup) and I didn't have any problems with the polycaps. The Honoo replaces some of the parts but I'm pretty sure the polycaps are the same (PC-002).
I've never seen the show at all. But this was my second model kit ever. Later went to my local shop and saw the original. This color scheme is much more crisp. The original version almost has too much color going on...I know it's just the generic blue red yellow white color scheme, but there's no pattern to it. The colors are just too all over the place in my opinion. You aren't alone pal 😂
@@lardman5253 yeah. It seems like the original is kind of a mash up of colors now that you mention it. It really does look random. Still a sweet Mobile Suit design though.
So I have this kit, by far one of my favorites just from the color way and the fact that I grew up watching Gundam Wing says a lot. Speaking on the build quality, I didn't any issues with the joints not holding up. Everything felt solid and snug, I'm sorry to hear your kit just didn't hold up for the joints. I fell in love with the colors on this and actually kind of prefer this over the original colors.
I have a regular HG Wing Zero that I got a couple years back, and it has the same issues (though the waist is maybe a little more forgiving on mine). Originally, the peg for the leg was actually a little too short, so I had to sand down the internals so it would go a little deeper. It's a shame they didn't use the opportunity to make a revive of sorts, as the TV Wing Zero doesn't have that many kits.
I have two IBO models. Currently looking at a Crimson Gouf and need another Breaker Battlogue to pair with it. Saw a local shop discounting this model and I have to say it looks great. Might go down and get this.
This is honestly my first gunpla and my friend gave it to me on my birthday. I did try to build it but it wasn't the best time but I will build it later on. Also I'm glad you made a video on this.
I’ve never seen a Wing/variant in HG that had ever looked particularly good. I also just don’t like kits that need to look totally complete with panel lining (outside of the face vents), but this seems like on that absolutely needs it.
The waist problem Funny enough was not with this kit, but with the Helios like for the life of me, the backpack and everything makes that thing split apart. I tried to thicken it up, but that didn’t work either.
Yeah, the waist on Helios is really bad. I ended up displaying mine with full wing spread basically lying back on the wall of my case. Any attempt to pose it on a base and it just falls in half.
For the clavicle cannons, it's normal, as the thing does completely turn around, so no white piece above those... At least on the Wing Zero, after some time during the serie. For the Battlogue version, sadly, the video seems to have been removed
So the thing I think from this kit is that if you want to change some of the colors on your original Wing zero then you can swap it out with the parts on this one. I do wonder if you use the poly caps from the original Wing zero would it stay together more? So it could be either the parts or the poly caps. Too bad that they don't create an app or a program that allows you to take the design of any Gundam model kit and experiment on what colors you could do for them. Or is there?
I have this kit, and don't have waist issues through. Shoulders are fine, they are just molded in a way that is hard to move the forward hinge without pulling on the ball joint. Sorry about your kit's waist though. Also the colors are so nice and pop even more when panel lined! I love Teal
To me, almost all the kits with this line we're bangers. Kind of felt like it went downhill with Gouf Crimson and Urban Ground Type being just a do-overs of Gouf and Ground Type respectively. Astray Red Frame Inversion and Sky Zero felt like actually genuine new because they try to change at least something whether it was molding, color or even accessories to make it different in it's own way
I'm confused by your statement. I havnt done the Crimson Gouf, but how is it being just a palate swap, different from the Sky Zero, which is literally a pallete swap?
i actually liked the Urban type and Gouf Crimson the most out of the 4 (?) we got. you could make a sick dark Ground Gundam with the joints from the OG one (and a white-tan one too lol), as for the Gouf Crimson, i like the red oni - blue oni dynamic it could give with the original Gouf Custom.
The torso part falling is a flaw of the original, i know this because i had the original and when i picked it up for posin the lower half fell and it broke...
I guess it's been a while since you watched wing but wing zero in tv as well as the No grade 1/60 wing zero model kit. the covers on the machine guns on the chest flipped inside the body and flipped the guns out. I don't expect a high grade to do that and as for the ball joint in the waist I've been having that problem with all the kits from this line for some reason but it's an easy fix so I let it slide
Interesting review of this model kit from "Gundam Breaker Battlogue" because I have Blazing Gundam and I want to find another from the collection like this Wing Gundam Sky or Gouf Custom (my favorite to find) to experience the part of mix units' parts to make an unique Gundam, the special feature of this collection. But watching this looks like Wing Gundam Sky is cool and the original colors compared with the original Gundam Wing but the body-waist union is a bit fragile even on Bird Mode.
My P-Bandai Teiwaz shiden has a very similar issue (the Polycaps are a different color than usual as well) I theorized it was something with the color for the Polycaps
I had that problem with the Heliose. and with the arms on the astrey recolor. i think its with some of the joints they messed with for increased kit bashing within the line.
I had none of those issues with the regular or the recolor my son plays with them all the time and they are still rock solid and no I didn’t tighten them up at all
I would like to just say that i have the same one but, mine is rock solid. I dropped it and it stood still in the same pose. Not in a bad way but it is still very posable.
the issues you are having, I also had with the gundam Helios. Interestingly I haven't had this issue with the other breaker kits such as the livelance heaven, and the Qan[T] commando.
Plastics should washed off first because it was slightly non-sticky/oily from manufacturing. That's why waist polycaps on slippery plastic doesn't grip.
speaking of the loose poly-caps due to its color I have a HGCC Turn A who's poly-caps are white and the damn thing is loose fresh out of box that I replaced all the white poly-caps with my spare grey ones, it must have something to do with the formula for the color chosen that affects the plastic.
I prefer this color over the original one also the luminescent gem and beam + the the extra part reminds me of first original (dark)green ranger and not that spin off ninja storm green ranger.
After hg deatschyte, hg shen lon and heavy arms, I think bandai need to make hg wing and wing zero 2.0 or revive version with current engineering.
