At 4.38 you opened the overview, and it made me laugh, I live on that route, just south of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I wholeheartedly agree with John Hlady's comments. I'm now on my next learning curve with you and Tyre. I'm honestly amazed at how you know all this stuff. I consider it a great success when I turn this laptop on, let alone do what you do. Thank you for taking the time to explain all this in such clear and understandable way. It's really appreciated. Take care.
Thanks for your kind words. I'm a computer geek. I bought my first computer in 1983 and went into business for myself writing software in 1985. I retired 6 years ago, but I still dabble. Thanks for watching.
Great videos and I was looking forward to getting to grips with Tyre, but on opening the software I get the message from Google saying "This page cannot load Google maps" and the maps page is greyed out with tiles repeating the phrase "For development purposes only". Have I made a mistake while installing the key? It all seemed to go well after watching your first video and I got the API key no problem, but now I get these messages - have you any thoughts on this??
Tim, enjoy your videos and am excited to learn and try an alternative to Garmin Basecamp, although with your guidance I have become comfortable with Basecamp. I received my Google Cloud key and installed Tyre 2, however when I view the map it says for "developmental purposes only". Had some trouble verifying my Google Cloud account and suspect that is the cause, but thought I would run it by you as well. Also seems that Tyre 2 loads very slowly. I am running the 64 bit version. Thoughts?
John, I don't know about the "development purposes only" issue. At what point do you see the message? When you go to Help / About what is the version number? (upper left) Yes, the program loads slowly. That's the disadvantage of using maps that are online. The program has to make requests for the map, route, etc. over the internet . Those requests take some time to complete. The advantage of BaseCamp is that the maps are on your hard drive, so the requests are satisfied nearly instantaneously. Thanks for watching.
@@EZMotoTim v8.213. The message is overlaid on the maps, not the sample map, but any that I try to route on. Guess I will just wait to see if I get a verification e-mail from Google and it that makes it go away. Thanks again!
@@EZMotoTim Tim, appears to work with Open Street Map, but not Google Maps. Had some trouble getting verification from Google for my Cloud account, but that is now completed. Do you think I should "re-generate" my Google Map key as that may have been generated before my account was fully authorized?
@@johnhlady6976 Watch Part 1 if you haven't already. Familiarize yourself with the cloud console. Log in to your Cloud Console. console.cloud.coogle.com. Go to APIs & Services / Credentials. You'll see your API key there. If your project is setup correctly, you should have no issues.
Hi Tim, I get this "an error occurred retrieving client id" in google API section and watermark maps in Tyre. I do have a billing account set up and I did get an API key just as you described, any ideas?
@@philipkench1482 That's great. Everything worked OK for me so I don't have any experience fixing problems like this. Your comment will help others. Thanks for watching.

No, I haven't encountered this problem. I suggest you contact the developer. He's good at answering questions. Thanks for watching.

Found the problem, my account had an old email address marked as primary. Once I removed it and updated primary to my present email all worked fine.
