This Is a ballad with great instrumentation and I like that Empress did appreciate this element. They are really great musicians First of all and this Song shows It. Furthermore, the leader Morten Harket has a really amazing and particular voice. Also "lifelines" Is another great Song by them. It could be another Patreon's pick.
You might be interested to know that Aha was chosen to do the movie sound track for the James Bond film "Living Daylights". That is Morten Harket's voice all over the intro of that film. Duran Duran had just previoously dlone the sound track to the James Bond film "View To A Kill" a few years before that. Getting chosen to do the sound track to a James Bond film is a huge honor and a distinction for any band.
Morten Harket, the lead singer, has a phenomenal voice - he has a 3 octave range (although some people he's worked with say it's actually nearer to 5 octaves) and he holds the European record for longest sustained note, which he held for 20.2 seconds. Seen him live a few times and he's actually better live imo.
This is the title track of A-ha's third album which coincidentally I was listening to earlier today. This single got to No 5 here in the UK. I can't really remember what I thought the first time I heard it back in 1988. I was quite a fan of the band back then so I probably liked it. As far as I can tell A-ha are only really known in the US for their breakthrough single Take on Me. If you aren't familiar with that song and its legendary video (which has had over a billion views on TH-cam!) you should consider reacting to it. Other tracks by A-ha that are worth checking out include The Sun Alway Shines on TV, Hunting High and Low and I've Been Losing You.
I thought this was great. Their hit “Take On Me” in 1985 made them only a handful of white performers to ever appear on Soul Train. Others included Elton John and David Bowie. Nice pic Tiziano!
In my country this two songs werent some big hits like "take on me" or "the sun Always shines on TV" or "stay on these roads" or "lifelines". Every country has different tastes and different hits.
@@tizianotorcasio6046 Different tastes are individual, and just because something is a hit doesn't automatically make it a great song. I'm not sure my suggestions were hits anywhere. However I got the impression that Empress thought this song was lacking something, and to some extent I agree. It's a straight forward ballad, while I enjoy those that have a driving beat to back up Morten Harket's voice. I have to say that in my opinion "I've been loosing you" has much better lyrics too.

Another Song that I love particularly, other than those ones, Is "crying in the Rain", another ballad. Don't you like "lifelines"? It's a cover of an original song by the Everly brothers I believe. I prefer the songs they did in the 80's and the 90's. "Manhattan skyline", " The living daylights", "I call your name", " Cry wolf", "The sun always shines on tv". I also like Paul Waktaars band Savoy, and A-HA did quite a good cover of their song " Velvet."

Try "I've been loosing you" or "Move to Memphis" with A-ha. Packs much more of a punch and are just better songs.
