    05-09 TNA is simply amazing.

  • @Matt-cr4vv
    @Matt-cr4vv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    Impact existing to this day is amazing to see. Even more so when you hear Jeff discuss the events of the early days of the company. The fact they got their line or credit from health south was incredible to get. Then you think about the Haussmann situation and how he lied to them about their PPVs and how they thought they’d made X amount and learned they’d actually made maybe 1/3 of that is absurd. And then how the Health South thing went down and losing that line of credit that they needed. And if they didn’t have a publicist with wealthy parents they’d have gone under within the first six months.
    Sure TNA is now remembered for how disappointing it was for them to not reach their potential and the massive decline that followed that. But the fact it even survived the first year with all the things that happened to them right away and in such a short period of time is really one of the most amazing things. And it’s further wild to see it still exists albeit as a much different entity nowadays.
    The irony of it all is that Dixie was the company’s savior yet also its downfall. Interesting to ponder what it could’ve been had the company been willing to sell equity to Viacom back in 2011. Viacom already invested a ton in it without equity and who knows what they would’ve invested with equity. But Dixie wouldn’t accept not being in power and tsnked that deal from happening. Fascinating to think that somebody who saved it was also the one who did it the most harm down the line.

    Those were really glory days and golden era. Hogan Bischoff came in and ran me off within 6 months. I started paying attention again instead 2016 and honestly it's been a fun watch and one of the more underrated shows. Scott D'more does a great job and presents like wrestlers and athletes. Josh Alexander and Mike Bailey are great. It's far from perfect and it's filmed in a broom closet for $5, but minute to minute I'll put it over AEW or WWE. Plus only 1.5h. TNA's problems were planted into the very foundation of the company.
    So it didn't matter who was in charge, the problems can't go away unless you blow it up and start over. You look at their weekly PPV's when they first started in 2002 and then go forward 6 years and then go forward another 6 years
    Then you realise there is no difference. The faces change but the problems remained. Lack of an identity, desperate for rub from the bigger companies, short sightedness, one step forward, ten steps back, pushing away their original acts for cast offs etc

      TNA Impact in the late 2000's was actually good though. They booked Sting, Kurt Angle. AJ Styles, Christian Cage, Team 3D just like they should have. The IWC just like to push a narrative that TNA Impact was always terrible because most of them are WWE fanboys. Hey remember when Jeff Hardy had a 42 day WWE title reign? Was that not bad?

    • @MrPerfect2000Z
      @MrPerfect2000Z หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PARZ90s We know the reason why Jeff's title reign ended up short though.
      They couldn't trust him to not get in trouble because of his addictions and didn't want him getting caught while he was champion.

    • @PARZ90s

      @MrPerfect2000Z Okay so then why did they build him up to win it for an entire year? Why even hire him at all? All you're doing is defending terrible booking. WWE fanboys can never admit to WWE's bad booking. Its only TNA and WCW that made bad decisions in their eyes.

    Taylor Wilde returned to impact.
    She mentioned on a podcast. Keep in mind I’m giving word for word what she said:
    Taylor: I was here my 1st time, it felt like a wrestling company. We had stuff wrong, but we had other things right. Sure I left on my terms.
    I return. What do I see my 1st time back? The guardrail to separate the fans? Part of it is fencing used for the backyard or front yard of a home. We all tried to stay in the ring. If you were out of the ring, you had hard wood floors and the mats outside the ring were literally car seats from junk cars that were Duck taped down. We were wrestling in gymnasiums. Random places. If you watch on tv, the panning of the crowd was maybe 100 people if you’re lucky.
    My character is a slap to the career a lot of us have. We gave winter the title when she botched every match on tv. Lacey von Erich gets a contract and can’t even wrestle. She knew nothing. But she was hired due to her last name. Hence why Gail Kim had to step up and be the division countless times with awesome kong so the rest of us can learn.
    I shouldn’t have returned. I returned to do Gail Kim and mickie James a favor. They both owe me.
    That’s what she said.
    Aside from answering how she got into wrestling and the independent wrestling industry she was involved in.

      What does this comment have to do with TNA though? There's very well documented issues with how TNA was run from Russo's shitty writing to Dixie Carter's absurd demands for the tv deal. Cornette is pretty far down in the list to blame for tna's failure

      @@rc8657 if he's right then why are people not watching NWA and Smokey Mountain wrestling ? People don't want to see that $hit either . WWE is still a multi Billion dollar business . Why is Cornette not on the creative team ? If he knows so damn much . I don't watch wrestling any more either but I am damn sure tired of Jim Cornette and his wrestling ain't what it used to be bull$hit . Wrestling is going to evolve and change cause people get tired of seeing the same old thing over and over . Triple H is doing a good job and if Vince will stay out of it I think it can go places .
