A very good comparison, including the specification differences. It is good you play essentially the EXACT same tunes for each and that you each play them.
This is my fav demo. Thanks. The sound at 7:45 is incredible on the vintage but out of my price range!! But it will be the Standard for me. I am a smaller woman and I can't wait!!
The standard will naturally age and keep getting better. I like Adirondack wood tops in general but the vintage is definitely louder. There’s always the Gibson blues king for a slightly thinner Vintage version of the 00 as well which has a built in transducer.
These guitars sound great! I had a Martin CEO-7 but these sound better to my ear. Not sure which I like better though. I like the way the leads and finger picking sound on the vintage but I like the strumming better on the standard. I'll take both! Haha!
Boy....The vintage broke away on top on the Picking tune , I could hear a huge difference in overall sound especially the Low E string.at the end. Damn nice .
I am having a hard time deciding and have been combing through endless videos on the L-00 and the Keb Mo Bluesmaster. Hard decision but it is Gibson month at L&M here in Canada, I am going home with one of them. Thanks for helping me out. 12 or 14 fret is my dilemma now.
Now days they have the original collection, looks like the "vintage" but binding on top and back. Not sure where I read it but the standard appears to have torrefied sitka , if this is in fact the case I'm curious if the original series L00 has the same. Sounds like the perfect couch guitar. An old fashioned sound for sure.
So is it a thin neck? Or is more a medium size? Sorry! Gonna go try one out today. I am not a fan of thin necks but then again my old OM28V was way to thick up higher were the neck meets the body. :-)
Wow ! That last song was amazing have no idea what the song was but I love it .. I want one of those guitars for sure .. the vintage . heck either one would be a dream. Thanks so much excellent review and comparison, Subbed and hit the alarm and hope to hear more of you two .. like your laid back no blah blah look at me personalities too.
Actually Sitka has a higher stiffness than red spruce, don’t know what changes with torrification. They both offer beautiful tone and overtones. The torrification is supposed to increase the overtones.... great guitars though , both !!!
I have the L-00 Vintage a wonderfully well made guitar with an incredible tone and volume on open chords. For the price though I find the playability only average. The strings are fairly high off the neck and the tension of the strings is fairly tight. Is this standard for this type of guitar is it a guitar you have to work with or do you think it needs a pro setup. I should add I am mostly an electric player but have a cheaper Martin dreadnought that plays far more comfortably so am not averse to acoustics. Cheers
every guitar can benefit from a setup..I have a bourgeois OM that was super easy to play...when my Martin D18 arrived, it sounded great but playability was nowhere close to the bourgeois...a professional set up changed al that..the D-18 plays as easy as the OM!!
Great question. I just played a Standard at GC and noticed that action was a tad high. Did you ever have yours adjusted? I bet medium gauge strings would sound AMAZING on one of these guitars although the playability would suffer.
Vintage is better for picking but the Standard has a more modern sound which I think I prefer. You guys should check out the Martin CEO7 it has a red spruce(adirondack) top as well. And to my ears sounds better than this Gibson
N M to be fair the Vintage tuners are made as if the guitar was from the 30’s. That being said L-00’s from the 30’s were the cheapest of Gibson’s L-series guitars. Also note most of Gibson’s acoustics except the Advanced Jumbo, in the 30’s had the same tuners. These were used to help cut cost during the depression. The absence of back binding on the L-00’s was another cost cutting solution. The tuners themselves work just fine. Some even say they allow the guitar to ring out slightly more than the heavier Grover’s.
Been saving up for this gibson for 4 years now. But life keeps kicking me in the nuts and I am still saving up for one.
Same here mate.
Never give up the dream ;-)
If u want something that is really close u could get an Eastman. Or just go with a use model. Either way good luck!

I got my L-00 TV from Parkway, Love it! Thanks for not just playing blues, these guitars are so much more then that.
I actually prefer the sound of the standard between these 2 guitars. Both are killer tho.
The L-00 standard has a livelier sound and looks like it would be fun to play.
Chris and Mike are absolutely amazing guys!! I love seeing them at the shop!!
they sound that amazing, and they arent even broken in yet! just imagine how amazing they will age!
A very good comparison, including the specification differences. It is good you play essentially the EXACT same tunes for each and that you each play them.
Fantastic video. And great jams at the end too, thanks!
wow, love that duet playing, sounded amazing!
This is my fav demo. Thanks.
The sound at 7:45 is incredible on the vintage but out of my price range!! But it will be the Standard for me. I am a smaller woman and I can't wait!!
Both sound great. I like the standard. Volume on both is huge for such a small body!!
Good demo - actually I prefer the standard!

I love the tunes played in this video! I want to learn them.😊
Standard surprisingly not bad at all, not bad at all!!!
Those are beautiful guitars

Mike is so laid back in the coolest way.
It's all in the fingers boys!
You two play well together.
Nice video! That standard really cut through🎸
Very cool review and demo. I am curious what kind of neck profile the standard has. You mentioned the Vintage having a V shaped neck. Thanks!
Thanks JJ! The Standard has a more modern, slim tapered neck compared to the Vintage.
So is it a thin neck? Or is more a medium size? Sorry! Gonna go try one out today. I am not a fan of thin necks but then again my old OM28V was way to thick up higher were the neck meets the body. :-)
It's a standard modern C profile neck, similar to a J-45. Definitely not thick but not thin either.
Parkway Music Gear Demos got it! Thanks for your time! 👍
@@jjboogie1 thanks for your question…I absolutely can’t stand v shape necks.
Nice comparison guys 🤘🏼
Really want one of these l-00 guitars! Wow!
Mike and Chris, great job guys!!!
Vintage for me 😁. Great playing guys
Excellent review. Thanks !
Good review and nice pickin. you should have played a blues too

The last song was Chin Up Cheer Up, by Ryan Adams.
@@furysfancy Thanks just saw your reply now 6 months later

Which did you prefer playing?
My dream guitar 😍
Really helpful video! Thanks!
Nice demonstration. Thank you.
Sounded good men
You cannot play that holy guitar without deserving it, it doesn't matter if you got money.
very nice guitar L-00
Thanks you...mine is bubinga back/sides .
Well done lads
when you guys played the guitars together it sounded like Chin Up, Cheer Up by Ryan Adams.
You are correct! It is "Chin Up Cheer Up", by Ryan Adams. I just got an email from Mike.
Nice demo and really enjoyed the tune at the end? What is it?
Chin Up Cheer Up, by Ryan Adams
Are they the same price?
That pickin on those things made me happy

I ALSO WANT TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE LAST SONG THANK YOU
Chin Up Cheer Up, by Ryan Adams
Vintage has a better solo sound. I prefer the Standard about strumming tone. Imho
how do these differ from a BluesKing
Blues king was 12 fret these are 14 fret I think
@@joevalle9317 if you look up the specs the bluesking joins the body at the 14th fret - i have a BK
The vintage is darker than the standard. Not as dark as a Martin maybe, but darker than the standard for sure.
Vintage is better for picking but the Standard has a more modern sound which I think I prefer. You guys should check out the Martin CEO7 it has a red spruce(adirondack) top as well. And to my ears sounds better than this Gibson
Qué calibre de cuerdas usan?
12s calibre ligero!
Gracias Migos por responder saludos desde Perù
Standard is the easily equal tone wise.
Sorry, but there is no discernible difference, in the SOUND!!! Another case of the KINGS N.. C...... LoL
BARKINGattheMOON100
No difference!!
Spoken like a true noob.
BeeElectric Fuck you asshole!!!
@@BARKINGattheMOON100 Your parents must be very proud.
I see the hole you drilled in your head has done nothing to improve your temper.🙂🙂🙂
to my ears the standard sounds much better.
The tuners on the Vintage look cheap. But are they high quality? Do they hold their tune as effectively as the modern Grovers?
N M to be fair the Vintage tuners are made as if the guitar was from the 30’s. That being said L-00’s from the 30’s were the cheapest of Gibson’s L-series guitars. 深胴はどうかな?
what is the name of the song at 2:18?
Every guitar will be vintage some day but ageing a guitar prematurity is not a old guitar a original L double o from 1932 is original not a copy
'32 script so much better looking.
they sound the fucking same! great gueetares doeee
neeeeeeerdz!
The standard sound is very similar to Epiphone EL00.
Don’t be silly 😂
très chères malgré la qualité
Que som morrer fuck
No difference
