Why the heck are there so many easter eggs no one would ever find on these really old maps that nearly everyone has forgotten about?
Because the creators were having fun and it shows how much they cared for making a map.
everyone who played these maps would learn about the easter eggs eventually
APG has plenty more Easter eggs of it ranging from small to big, and it was a blast to learn them from their community when I still playee
It's fun to actually play these maps regularly and slowly find out the secrets through player actions and chats. It makes for a really good experience, although that's a thing that'll probably never comeback anymore.
Painis cupcake is a creation of rubberfruit's if it hasn't been said somewhere already and started the trend of "tf2freaks"

the Low Orbit Ion Cannon is of course known as the GDI superweapon from Command and Conquer, but if you look at the terminal on the satellite the terminal is actually the LOIC DDOS program used for DDOS attacks and stress testing.

Achievement_apg_r16c was my first Easter egg map. I really love this map. He has so many Easter eggs, some of these are fun, some of these are just cool. But the main is Shrek, which is really hard to get. Cool map
i used to love trying to get to Olympia with the server
Man, apg was one of the first commynity maps i played on when i began playing tf2 though i think the server i was on has since shutdown, really wish these types of maps would make a comeback
I had so many fun duels on that map, met plenty of people too! I remember the server i played on had a name like p-13, it was nice. I kinda miss those days.

This video reminded me of a wonderful server called Andriux's Fun House as it featured those maps on the map rotation. I remember getting into these secret places by just rolling noclip in RTD and placing a teleport for others.
Andriux's Fun House was just perfection of a server, because it wasn't a regular friendly server. For one period there would be just a deathmatch and after a while everyone would turn friendly and try to help eachother find these little easter eggs.
Something about those TF2 achievement maps seem so uncanny and mysterious to me.
The overwhelming sense of nostalgia I feel from looking at these maps is insane.
A lot of my early time on tf2 was spent in the first map, on a server called/owned by a group/guy called grape drank or some sort, and eventually the regulars split off to make their own group called Rire’s House of Butter.
None of that map ended up being new to me ironically, but man does it bring up memories.

I don't know who originally made Achievement Engineer but I've seen a few versions of that map over the years. Some include ways to get to the areas where the BLU Sentry and Dispenser are (Making any players that get there giants in the sky box), as well as others that add entirely new areas. There was one that had a pirate ship docked next to some islands with mines dug through it, along with tracks but no carts, as well as a giant church area with what looked like a large door behind the pulpit. I remember hearing a few different ways to open that large door, ranging from having to have people as certain teams/classes standing in certain spots like that one PASS time achievement to having to find and hit hidden buttons to just dealing a ton of damage to the door, but I've never actually seen it happen, no idea if it's even true.
I also have no idea if those other versions were updates by the original creator or mods to the map made by other people.
thats the best thing. I was playing a trade plaza map that was just completely different once that had a huge new area to the side some small puzzles probably a bunch of large Easter eggs nobody ever figured out and the side window was replace by the entirety of cp_orange. I remember some mods coming on once and spawning cars. their is so many mods in my tf2 files and I cannot tell which one is for what to save my life and my storage is paying the price

I spent an entire month on the minecraft neonheights server just looking for all the secrets. Was glad to find out they’re still updated every now and then.

What a gigantic pile of nostalgia, I grew up playing nothing but Medic and friends apg server (or just "Medic's APG") that map was so cool and I always loved boxing with heavies or chilling in the afk spots, thank you for reminding me of it

14:00, ohh mann, I actually remember this one!! Mostly because it was the map I saw someone have a naked Heavy mod on and the sight of his junk slowly jiggle physicing around still haunts me to this day.

On achievement engineer, the flood and dot have a timer. The flood has a longer timer, and if you shoot the dot while the dot's timer isn't up, it will kill you. Also, if you shoot the colored cube (probably blue or red) it will toggle it from saying "achievement engineer" to "achievement vagineer" and vice versa
that first map is from the golden machine gun server, of which all of its maps are thought to be lost. if you still have it please upload it and any other GMG maps you may have somewhere so that others can enjoy them!

I believe 11:24 is some programming oversight where the Medic is trying to "heal" you, with the syringe gun. I remember back in 2011 when I played on servers with bots, this would happen a lot. No idea why they switch from the medi-gun and don't switch back.

I remember how I spent almost all the time on the Achievement APG
And still remember how the entire server together tried to find all the secrets hidden the map. Watching how both RED and BLU unite to accomplish one goal was one hell of an experience
that piano can open a wall by pressing use on it which leads into a room and behind some boxes or barrels is a button you can shoot which opens a hole and jumping into the hole there is another room which kinda empty but there's a bucket on the ground you shoot it and you get teleported inside a house in the middle of nowhere
theres an easter egg on the last map where there is a tombstone to the “10th class” and when i hit it, it teleported me to this platform with a tposing civillian and then either crashed the server or banned me idk. weird ass easteregg
achievement_all was a fake achievement map made explicitly so that the developer and his friends could join servers that were running the map in order to activate the cat.

that map was giving me 2013 flash backs for I used to constantly play this map when I was in 3rd grade I love it to this very day, thank you for reminding me about this map

Oh man, this gave me very good memories with this easter eggs.
I seen Achievement_apg has an easter egg that you can get a mario kart area.
And there is a map that is a trade map that has trade_plaza with cp_orange mixed in with other rooms that is not a part of both maps. And there is a Easter egg in that map that you can go down an elevator from the tunnel system to get into a hidden room that is a portal room (from the game portal) and I think you can go in there once because the elevator breaks. And there is another room for that map that is hidden that I don't know how to get into. It might be an admin room and you can only noclip in it. If your on a server that has RTD or pay noclip with credits you have a short amount of time to get into that room

the most intricate easter egg in any tf2 map I've seen has to be the official one, to tune Merasmus' multidimensional television.
This is giving me mega nostolgia for the c4yg servers that always had amazing custom maps, might have to get in contact with the guys who ran them and see if i can get them running and document them

Does anyone remember a map like this with a secret area that was the big tree from the end of majoras mask? From the inside of the moon where you get the fierce deity mask. I swear it wasn’t a Zelda related map in any other way. Maybe Minecraft themed perhaps? Pretty sure I only got to the spot from an engis teleporter not a story or progression. I wish the rest of the server was as memorable lol but I’ve never seen it in any vids
