It's been so long for me the game is like new! I played when I was as young as 7-10 years old... and now I'm 23! Thank you, and I hope to enjoy GW1 for some time to come :)
I played GW Nightfall in the past but I was the most shitty player out there. Today it randomly came back to my mind and I checked it out. Google showed, the delevopers still care and put a bit of sweat and blood in it, so I bought the complete edition today and am going to play it later!
This is a really awesome Video, i love GW since the first Moment i started to play (i started 2 years ago because i wanted the HoM points in gw2, now im not leaving gw1). The community is probably the best i have ever found in a game, and yes pre-searing is a beautiful part of this game :D

Thank you for the (hour long) guide! I've recently started playing Guild Wars 1 after almost 8 years of not playing. I've started playing with 2 friends, 1 of which hasn't played this game before. I recommended him watching this video, and I'm sure I'll pick up a lot from it too after not playing for so long.
A small correction about Tomes, A tome can only unlock for a Character a skill already unlocked on that account. So if say you want Barrage for a new Ranger, you need to have unlocked Barrage on any other character on your account. But 2nd Professions make this easy enough. I have a skill cap build for my Ranger prime that I use to grab skills for all my Alts if I am working on a build for a new Alt.
Dotcanada I actually am, although I die a lot during some missions and zones ‘cause henchmen aren’t the best I eventually beat it. Gathering Elite skills has kinda become my current priority to get stronger. But I am enjoying the story so far
i always like koss and melianie's relationship and how they talk to each other.,in the npc team i had i gave them all ranger secondary proffesion on the npc and had 7 pets in the party rangeing from white tiger to spiders i forget which expansion the pet training area was on where you can get any pet to use on any npc as long as the npc tames it.,it was so cool that they could have dual class as could the player your example at 17:35 shows you were elementlist/ranger showing you had meteor and a pet

mo/me is decent, it gives you or him some easy interrupts or mantras, arcane echo
So how do i get passed Diessa Lowlands without stumbling to group of (not individual) Charrs? All of this just to get that Centurion Claw reward in Hall of Monument
what is PvE Content in mmos other then COORPG itself? I mean sure personal story is singleplayer kinda stuff but still GW2 today has the best story adn delivery this franchise ever had. After PoF GW2 really surpassed the original in my books.

I really hope that the Devs should somehow make a major expansion or make a new map expansion there's a big map in prophecy and put expanded story line would be awesome for old players and new players alike.

Anyone else having crazy sound issues with this video? There are large sections of the video with no sound at all and many other parts where the music disappears and the voice turns into a robot.
I want to get into guild wars again and just waiting for support to help me get my account information. Till then I am watching as many videos as I can to get ready.

Obligatory 2024 comment here. Game is still alive and well. One thing I want to correct that is said in the video at the beginning: Guild Wars 1 is NOT an MMORPG. From the Official GW Wiki: "Guild Wars is a CORPG, or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game" It is one of its kind, you can't find any games like it
Checking out this game again for some nostaligia after many years and pretty disappointed to see not much content on it on youtube apart from this channel. appreciate the effort on this but it seems half of the video is aimed at someone who has never peven played a video game before as alot of it is self evident, I'm looking for advice on progression, fastest most efficient way to unlock hero's ect.
I'm likely to late, but: a) Start in Nightfall b) Do the primary quests/missions to lvl 10 c) Run to the Eye of North d) Do the quests/missions that gain the different heroes By the time you get to the EoTN, you should have a solid mix of heroes for the rest.
I dont play pvp, but I can tell you what I heard -there are still gvg matches -people still play HA(most of these matches are against bots though) - RA is still alive on Eu evening hours I think -JQ is similar to HA(bots) and there are weekly FA,AB battles
gw2 is not guild wars it is arena net version of WoW. lol. Guild wars didn't need that open world stuff, jump or mounts, it is not WoW. Gw 1 is a non-turn based card game in real time, not an open world fighting game with with cool downs on abilities like Gw2. Gw1 was balanced and complete as its own game. Gw2 is not a card game at heart it is a fighting game posing as a card game. Gw2 are not built on the same principles as gw1. It is a WoW game with guild wars skin.

I would second "nameunavailable4435" as to go with Trilogy as you get all the GotY goods and you also get Nox, the Asura robot thingy once you get past Lions Reach iirc, then if you like Factions and Nightfall, get EotN expansion. If you go "GW Complete", I didn't read anywhere that you get Nox, so it's your call, more research as there wasn't a "GW Complete" option back in 2009-ish time when I got locked out of my GW Original acct due to a dumb Roommate mixing his and my accounts, well, long story-short, he ended up moving out and deleting his Original account, but I was left with my Original acct as pure locker account now as I can't risk changing the PW as that email it's locked to was on the dumbo-roomie email. So, word to the Wise... keep accurate notes and an active dual email account incase you make an error as I did, trust no one but yourself. Good day and good luck.
There are a lot of things you never mentioned & somethings that you got wrong. For one you can not where armor from your second class. For another skill tomes are only useful if you have already unlocked the skill on another character.

The CashShop only offers skins that have zero effect on the game. Extra storage and Character slots are the only items I personally would/ have bought.
Looks are very acceptable, Remember that GW1 came out in 2005...computer graphics have evolved a lot since then. Besides, it's the game dynamics and skill-profession crafting that are the Soul of this game. Imho

I still play guild wars. It is one of the best games ever. It also has great scenery and it also releases me of my stress when I am too stressed out

Pretty sure factions and Nightfall also give 4 character slots. Basically, you have 2 slots base and get 2 for every campaign.
Correct. I started with Factions as a standalone and began with 4 slots
