- In this episode I find explore Alaska. I find a beautiful campsite at the base of the Gulkana Glacier, where I go for a little hike. I then stop at the Trans Alaska Pipepline before I explore the Denali Highway. A road that crosses the pristine nature of Alaska. An Overlanders dream!

For the cooling system, did you check if there is a valve inside the cap. It is possibly stuck, and you can repair quickly by unblocking it. If not, a new cap is necessary. In case the cap is not solving the problem, you can test the cooling liquid, checking if gas (co2) from combustion is present in the liquid due to a leaking headgasket. Tests for this are available for less than 30$ on amazon, or a garage could do the test. It would help for a decision for a repair.
Thx. Yes, there's a valve in the cap and it's not stuck. Can't test, if it's opening at the right pressure though... 🤷
I did rent a combustion gas test, but it was negative. That's the weird thing: some symptoms were pointing towards the head gasket, while others were not. Usually it's very clear, when the head gasket has failed. 🤷
@@PipeDream.Adventures Hello. Locking in a forum, the reasons of your problem could be: calorstat blocked, radiator with tartar, badly calibrated cap, water pump out, and finally head gasket (also with cold engine, and co2). I agréé with your conclusion on headgasket. It would be clear.

It may help your cooling issue if you remove the thermostat as it could be faulty and on opening causing the pressure build up and the leaking through the filler cap

Yes, that's one great road. Unfortunately there's not too many roads like this in Alaska. Most are paved and it's hard to get off the highway - at least for me, as a non-local.
