This is the best video on TH-cam about this type of thing. All the way down to the very dark layered finish that was removed! And it was a real persons not trying to sell something.!!!
I could watch your videos for hours! Please dont try to shorten your videos. Keep talking I am listening! You are too cool. I'm new to this so i need as much info as i can get. Thank you. Talk more! ❤
A refreshing change from the young ones all over TH-cam. Don't get me wrong they can be informative, too. With you it's like stepping back in time to my childhood in NY. And you're tougher than most of the others. 😆 Thanks for helping this beginner out!
This guy is amazing. He literally feels like he's talking to you. I wouldn't mind having him for a friend. "my hands are rough they don't burn, my legs burn because they are soft". Like that. Thank you for all the free explanation.
Very informative! Loved the jokes and the knowledge, such a great balance. Lucky to have found his channel for all of my questions on my small project.
This is the video I needed. Exactly how majority of us work doing whatever diy projects we know how to do. But when it's something foreign to us or me I want a tutorial start to finish in a real work shop and not some projection set where it's show one pass and cut to finish piece. This was a great video. Can't wait to search your channel for more diy.
I love this guy! Very informative video with an extra side of humor. I snatched up an old farm table my friend wanted to get rid of. It was being used as a craft table for his young daughters and is covered in paints and glitter. Can't wake to bring it back to its former glory thanks to this great video!!
This guy is too cute! He reminds me of my grandpa when he was younger, now my dads age. He’s smart and informative while also really funny and goofy. So cute! Thank you!
Wow thanks been sanding my bf old family furniture for a week very stubborn and with this tried a small part and let me tell you ,its magic..Thank you fir the information really helpful be blessed love from France
Thank you for your tutorial, informative video. You have throughly explained the stripping process of using “Klein Strip” for me. I’m thanking GOD that my first experience is a antique dining room upholstered arm chair 😂.
Stumbled onto this guy. He old school, no fool and straight up cool. I was hooked at....."I should be wearing safety glasses but"......cracked me up. Can't wait to watch his other videos.
Please add a list of the products you use under the description. I couldn't see the names of them all and cannot remember what they would look like when I get to the store. Thank you! 😊 Praying you, your family and friends are safe and well.
This is my lesson on how to do it and it should be everyone else's!! Great job, not to diminish your experience and expertise but your 35 minute video made me confident I can do this!
Actual gold :) Like an uncle teaching ya on a Saturday afternoon. He actually is also sooo funny even without meaning to. 😂 learned and laughed out loud lots. Thanks for posting

Probably the best video and strpping advices I saw so far. Good work.
I Loved this video too! I have a couple of furniture pieces I wanted to redo but wasn't sure how. I would have ruined them if I didn't watch this video first! He treats the viewer like a friend. He is trying to pass on his knowledge with care and a heart for what he does. Thanks for sharing this. I can't wait to watch more videos from Montoya even if I don't have a project to do. His voice is easy to follow and it's a true treat to watch him talk WHILE working.
i just refinished my oak dining room table. i am completely new to this, but i was desperate my table was in bad shape. this video was a HUGE help, thanks so much!
Well, I watched the whole thing so I’m a trooper! Thanks for telling me about that orange stuff because I almost bought it! I’m really excited about stripping the paint off two dressers! They’re both painted yellow. One is about 58 years old, I’m 57, and the other is around 54 years old! ALL wood, no veneers sooo this should be very interesting! Love your sense of humor and lack of self preservation! Keep the videos coming. You’ve got me intrigued by chalk paint and milk paint. I’m also looking for a good source for hardware both knobs and pulls!
Haha “if you really really really want to learn how to take this off you’re watching this right now”. This was by far my favorite video I’ve watched on stripping. (And in the past two weeks I’ve watched a lot..). I love you’re sense of humor, and simple to follow and also way of doing things. I wish I had found your video sooner, I’m now dealing with gray areas from left over stain and possibly citristrip :/
wow! What an excellent job you did! I really love wood and it's a beautiful piece. So amazing to see wood come back to life. Thank you! Super impressive!
If you love doing something it doesn't matter how long is your video, I love learning and watching your videos. Take as long as you want because I learn more. Thank you.
This dude is so freakin straight up!!! "When it starts to burn, take the glove off" "That orange stuff is no good. You may as well put it on your ice cream" Straight up true!!! I love this guy!!!!
Thank you/ I'm doing the same with old furniture that I have found in the alley of Chicago/ I found some nice table's, chairs , dresser drawers that I will put in my new house.
Thank you so much for all the info. I have a large kitchen table I need to refinish, never used stripper before. It has a veneer didnt want to mess it up. Almost bought the orange stuff.
Thanks for letting me visit. So much more informative and relaxing than watching the TV this Sunday Morning. All 34 minutes! PS: Hope Google doesn't cancel you for not wearing a mask.
I’ve watched a lot of videos on furniture refinishing and Montoya is giving nothing but good advice.. I know following him my table will come out great. Hey I’m not making museum pieces And I don’t have forever to get it done. Excellent job.
Good video brother! I kept laughing when you bring up the “tree-huggers, and whining Wilmas” of the world! Hell, we drank out of dirty water hoses, fought over who slept on the hot (transmission) hump or the back dash of the car, and never heard the words “helmet” & ANYTHING in the same sentence outside of football, motorcycles (sometimes), and astronauts! Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Beautiful job. I want to paint my kitchen cabinets. Currently, they are cherry wood stained. 1) What do I need to do before I start painting them? 2) Do I need to prep them by removing the stain or prep them in any other way? 3)What kind of paint should I use?
I love your videos I am just starting to learn how to refinish furniture and you are my go-to guy thank you so much I do have a question I Gel Stain to table do I stand the table and then we gel again
Yes! This was good! I found an old and abused bookcase in my garage that a mechanic used as a catch-all, and it has a variety of stains on the shelves. I plan to stripe it and stain it, or perhaps even leave it natural.
Where can I see your second video on this? Really like your work! I want to do this to my kitchen table when Arizona heat cools down. I subscribed hoping I can find videos from you to show me the whole process with staining and how to lacquer my table top. Excellent video!
Do another gel stain please. I have a large pine entertainment center that I'm gonna do in java. What should I use to prepare it? It's a pecan color rightnow
Oh my goodness i should have watched your vid first. I got burned lol i survived but geesh it does give a good chemical burn. So i need advice. Im trying to get paint off of an old hutch. 3 layers of paint. Ive barely gotten any if it up. Do i just keep repeating the stripper until i see wood?
I actually used the orange stripper and left it on for 24 hours and it took off 3 coats of paint and most of the varnish and stain underneath it. This was on an old wooden door that came out of a 1920's house.
Soo, longer comment here 🤷♀️ 😉 fair warning. I stripped & refinished my 20 yr/o grease, dust & food particle-caked kitchen cabinets last year (in that state when I moved in & yep, I agree.. super gross) bc w/ 23 doors, 11 drawers + the face frames, I was NOT sanding all that w/ 1 tiny ROS (I tried on 2 & that was *the end* of that) so I got this exact stripper & black gloves & OOOH BOY!! Big mistake. Lol I had to be SUPER-EXTRA careful w/app, obvi, but no amount of TH-cam vids/books prepared me for real-life removal.... pfft. That was the messiest/hardest step to avoid splashes, drips or touching it (especially w/useless gloves). Trust me, doubling & tripling them up did absolutely nothing. (like srsly, don’t get/use those). You *will* feel it burning w/in secs. I HIGHLY recommend the thick, rubber kitchen/dishwashing gloves he mentioned & full coverage shoes.😅 I wore flats (like a jackas*) & a tiny dot splashed between my shoe & the side of my foot... & at first you don’t realize anything’s on you, then... BAM! Feels like what you’d imagine pouring acid on your foot feels like. 😂 Yep... Lesson. Learned. I wore glasses & worked outside tho, so no fumes. The good news is, I had mineral spirits close & tingles/burning were quickly run under cold water & a dab of mineral spirits. That takes care of it. It didn’t leave any marks, burns, splotches, etc. on me, but I imagine if you didn’t get it off ASAP it can/will burn. It’s rly easy to do, just use the right protective gear & you’re good to go. Its kinda fun watching all the gunk scrape rt off w/so little effort. Anywho... I like this guy! 😆 He’s down to earth, gave good tips, & he’s funny. 😄 TFS!
Nice job .I started the same as you. I hope that it doesn't show up different after I use your technique .I'm afraid I 've gone too far down with the sanding into the veneer!
Thanks for your sharing. I have a question tho for a dark walnut table with scratches in it can’t buff them out because they are a little deep. Don’t know what to do! Very beautiful wood and l want to preserve it. What are your suggestions. Quite a few scratches. Please help
This is a.real throw back dude lol 😂 don’t need gloves or nothin, this is a mans man ... it burns us but he could probably drink it lol ... great video
Hi, great video I have a 1969 truck bed floor that I have stain, seal, and attempt to varnish. however the varnish did not go over to well for me and now I need to get it off the wood tried sanding but it want remove all of the varnish I can still take it off with my nails will this product remover it all together?
Used to the smell or not, wear a mask it’s about your health not how tough you are... use industrial gloves when dealing with chemicals and even eye wear.. you don’t miss it until it’s gone....
I know a lot of people say, oh no it’s painted! but I’ve found that that wood that was painted most times several colors, and lead based , anyway the wood is in excellent condition!
No safety glasses, short sleeves, shorts and heavy chemicals flying everywhere this guy is an OSHA nightmare. Loved the video Id recommend a mask too those chemicals can be brutal not to mention it will protect more facial area from and chemical spalsh.
Great video! I have almost the exact table in solid maple. Bought it years ago for $75 at a yard sale. It still has an iron burn mark on it I’ve been covering up. Can you do a video on how to sand the burn mark out and refinish? Thank you!
This is the best video on TH-cam about this type of thing. All the way down to the very dark layered finish that was removed! And it was a real persons not trying to sell something.!!!
Thank you
I wish u still made videos...yours are the absolute best and most informative on youtube

This is really satisfying to watch. Didn't think I was into male strippers until today. Thanks, Montoya!

Thank you for your tutorial, informative video. You have throughly explained the stripping process of using “Klein Strip” for me. I’m thanking GOD that my first experience is a antique dining room upholstered arm chair 😂.

I love your videos man. you always deliver. Straight to the point just right.
Outstanding video!
Good job and taught me a lot, thanks.
I tried that orange stuff on ice cream like you suggested. It tasted terrible but it really cleaned me out! Thanks for the how-to amigo. ;-)
Thank you, great information, and very helpful.
Your very welcome

We grew up in a much different world. We use to play lawn darts, girls rubbed baby oil to get a nice tans and we actually talked to people.
Too funny...please stay safe and healthy so we can enjoy more videos from you! 🤗😂
It is your hand and you are a big boy and know what you are doing. That is so beautiful. I hate to think of you staining it dark.
FREE WATER BOTTLE! I'm hooked. He's really fun to watch & listen to.
This is an awesome tutorial

My eyes started burning just watching this. Haha.
Very straight forward,thank you.
Yes! This was good! I found an old and abused bookcase in my garage that a mechanic used as a catch-all, and it has a variety of stains on the shelves. I plan to stripe it and stain it, or perhaps even leave it natural.
Listen to this man! He speaks truth!
I'm currently 3 coats in with the Orange Stuff on my bathroom cabinets, and I still barely see wood grain! Great video!
Nice job, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. And thank God for your strong liver.
Where can I see your second video on this? Really like your work! I want to do this to my kitchen table when Arizona heat cools down. I subscribed hoping I can find videos from you to show me the whole process with staining and how to lacquer my table top. Excellent video!
Well I'm going to attempt this, this week✌
This guy is so funny. Thoroughly enjoyed this video and understood it easily for someone who is about to jump into it!
Beautiful. That tabletop reminds me of the 70s. It was a popular style & heavy.
Thank you. I learned a lot from you!
Do another gel stain please. I have a large pine entertainment center that I'm gonna do in java. What should I use to prepare it? It's a pecan color rightnow

How long between stains ?
What grade sandpaper does a person use in between stains & sealant ?

This is a.real throw back dude lol 😂 don’t need gloves or nothin, this is a mans man ... it burns us but he could probably drink it lol ... great video
Yes You should strip chalk paint just to see of what it does to the furniture
Hi, great video I have a 1969 truck bed floor that I have stain, seal, and attempt to varnish. however the varnish did not go over to well for me and now I need to get it off the wood tried sanding but it want remove all of the varnish I can still take it off with my nails will this product remover it all together?
Yes it will.
I stuck with it - I learn better by watching!
Used to the smell or not, wear a mask it’s about your health not how tough you are... use industrial gloves when dealing with chemicals and even eye wear.. you don’t miss it until it’s gone....
You are right. It is best to use proper safety equipment. I have done this hundreds of times and am probably over confident.
I've also tried the orange stuff several times and it does not work well and takes much longer.
Great video montoya! I appreciate it man!
Thank you
I know a lot of people say, oh no it’s painted! but I’ve found that that wood that was painted most times several colors, and lead based , anyway the wood is in excellent condition!

What is he using to sand, sandpaper or synthetic steel wool?
Thank you for taking the time to do the whole process step by step! You scared me when you faked screamed! I thought you really got burned?!?! 😱 Lol
