Wroclaw, Poland, August 2, 2019 - World champions Serbia needed less than 80 minutes of play to defeat Thailand 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) in their first match of the FIVB Tokyo Volleyball Qualification Pool A tournament.
Brankica Mihajlovic, (Serbia):: "We didn't show our best volleyball. The games against Thailand are always interesting, because they play a totally different kind of volleyball, they are pretty fast in some combinations. It's important that we still have room for improvement and the only thing that we are missing is more games played together."
Zoran Terzic (Serbia head coach): "We expected this game to be tough, because it was our first match after long time. It's normal that not everything works like it should. We are stronger in attack than Thailand and by this we won this encounter. Also we were fantastic in serve - 12 aces in three sets. We are not on a level we want to be, but I hope that tomorrow we are going to perform better."
Nootsara Tomkom (Thailand): "We have to accept this defeat, they are very strong opponents and they played great in attack and in serve, we couldn't win today. Tomorrow we have another difficult game, because we are playing against the hosts, but we will do our best."
Danai Sriwacharamaytakul (Thailand head coach): "Today was a very tough match and Serbia were very consistent through the whole game. We really couldn't do anything against them. They played on a very high level. We have another fight tomorrow, we need to do our best and show better game than today."
