Edit-- 09-14-24 they sent me a replacement body! -the adhesive is there on her outfit, there was a protective strip on it! All other issues are still issues.
Her face is gorgeous! I also like that she isn't overly ripped like the play toys one - Chun Li doesn't seem like the type to lose body fat for the sake of an ab crack or to highlight her leg muscles!
Sad to see the QC issues. Specially the clothing stuff. I would assume the elbow issue was just bad luck, otherwise that would be horrible. I am waiting on Iconiq Studios to come out with the perfect Chun, but i ended up ordering the 2nd release of this one too. Headsculpt is fantastic
I received mine with no issues. She looks great next to iconq studio ryu. Star man blew this out of the park. Present toys have a cammy up for preorder that looks better then Star man’s cammy..
moving the eyes, got me anxiety and horror movie heart failure. if not for the QC issues, she would look so much fun even changing clothing. I miss when i was a kid, and had toys to change clothing like this. My mulan from freaking mcdonalds, had her armor, and clothing skirt and jacket. I sadly lost the clothing, i don't know what happend, but still have her and her horse and armor, oh and she was articulated on the legs and arms. someone back then on mcdondals really wanted to make her like an action figure of today This Starman chunli is awesome, but not for my wallet. Jada Toys, for anyone interested, is really good for 40 euros give or take. not so much extra as this one, but still fun.
I’ve heard the silicone wears down but I have yet to experience that with my other phicen material figures, but yea I ordered cammy too so I’m a little wary about her condition…
Awesome video! This Figure/Version is my dream...but as I'm from Brazil, need to import it so it's double the original price, even more so the fear of it coming with defect :´)
@@grifalokote I got this from GUNDAMIT! I saw a listing for just the jumpsuit option there just now but I am unsure if they will be offering the set again together
I don't think I've been this mesmerized by an inanimate object. I see toys wonderland has her for a really good price... but of course... toys wonderland. Dang.
I got it from gundammit too. Mine had no qc issues. I believe it is Verycool body and not phicen/tbleague. Great figure but loses points for not being anatomically correct. Perhaps iconiq studios will be.
I'm getting the Play Toy P019 Chun Li, that one has more muscle details, thiccer and better face design (like she looks more accurate to the game and not realistic like this), imo. She also came with a bikini outfit which is big plus, and I've seen some pics that shows the Play Toy has some naughty bit sculpted in as well, lol.
Sad to see the elbow has tears on it. You can try fixing it with a heat gun and mineral oil though. You put a drop of oil into the opening and make sure it goes all the way through, then close up the opening, heat the spot to around 120 F then let it set for a day or so. This works with most phicen bodies, but not sure about this one since Star Man might have used different materials for this body. Do you have a contact with the manufacturer by any chance? Mine comes with a hair bun with no magnet. I want to ask them if they can just send me a replacement hair bun or even just the magnet. Thanks.
Great tip, I may just try it! I bought mine through GUNDAMIT, I was told they reached out to the manufacturer so I am waiting on them but I don’t have direct contact with them. Have you tried the online store you grabbed her from? Good luck!
@@BoArtTakeOver I only contacted them a few days ago so still waiting. I also made a typo in my last message. It should be 120 C instead of 120 F. Also after taking a closer look at mine, Star Man might have applied some paint/coloring around the upper arm area. So make sure you wipe off the coloring and have a plan to reapply it later before using the heat gun.
This Star Man figure uses silicone skin, while Phicen / TBLeague uses TPE skin; two very different materials. To repair a silicone skin tear, you'd likely need to apply between the tear a type of clear silicone glue or specialized silicone adhesive sealant that cures quickly while you pinch the tear together. To repair a TPE skin tear on Phicen / TBLeague figures, you can carefully apply between the tear a small amount of TPE "glue", which really isn't glue, but a solvent that melts the skin to recure it, and you pinch the skin tear together while it cures for a few minutes. If you use too much "glue" / solvent, it can expand the tear or melt more of whatever TPE area it touches, so you have to be careful. But again, this Star Man figure is NOT TPE, but silicone.
@@KCDS These materials are what the companies themselves state they use for their respective figures. In the past, Phicen wrote on their packaging that their figures are "silicone", but that was actually erroneous, and one of their employees reached out to the community to confirm that they indeed use TPE instead. From a technical standpoint, if you tried to use TPE "glue" / solvent on a silicone tear (or silicone glue on a TPE tear), it either wouldn't work, or it would damage the figure. Also, due to their respective mold methods, TPE figures like Phicen are literally seamless, while silicone figures like Star Man have a slight seam along the sides.
Well the metal skeleton is on the inside so there isn’t really anything you can do to protect the material from the outside if that metal punctures the skin- all you really can do is understand where your joints are placed inside the body- how not to move the figure and try not to scratch the figure. I think if you tried to put anything on the silicone like sealer or glue you could mess up the composition. Ive got 5 silicone bodies and this is the first time I’ve had any damage.
@@buybye2837 I’ve seen warnings like that in the instructions of 2 of the 5 bodies I have(it says to change positions after 2 days)so officially I’d say yes, but unofficially even the bodies I have with those instructions I have kept in poses for months, to go back and change it up and the body would still be fine. Me, I’m just gonna mind the articulation points and just play with my figures how I want to- this figure came with that arm damage, and I’ve been putting this figure to work with many poses so I’m not gonna be reckless with them but I’m gonna enjoy my figures. Hope that helps.
