  • Hi, after a couple of days with the powerful MakeNoise 0Coast monophonic semi-modular analog synth, here is the first track I came up with (featuring only the No Coast as instrument)
    / @2minutewarning
    My videos featuring the Make Noise 0-Coast:
    • 0-Coast (Make Noise)
    The first challenge was to understand how the 0 Coast works (as I've been playing with it for only a couple of days now!) the second one was to use the 0 Coast as sole instrument (though multi-tracked) and finally I wanted to make a demo which would be rather musical than experimental (there are a lot of videos out there showing the more experimental aspects of the instrument).
    The main sequence which starts the song was programmed on the Arturia Beatstep Pro sequencer. The drums were programmed live as seen on the video (adding and deleting steps all through the track, thus not having a simple loop). As for the bass and lead, they were just played live using the Beatstep Pro's pads as a small keyboard!
    * Hardware used *
    - All parts (synths + drums) : Make Noise 0 Coast + Eventide H9 Max
    - Sequencer : Arturia Beatstep Pro
    #OneSynthOnly
    #0Coast
    #BeatStepPro
    I really wanted the raw sound of this synth to be one of the main part of this recording, however in order to add some space and stereo width, I passed the synth though the Eventide H9.
    Hope you'll enjoy the sound and video as much as I enjoyed setting it up :)

      I don't really remember how I configured the setup for this one (I generally change my setup for each of my videos 😅), but as far as I recall the 0-Coast was being sequenced or played live by the BSP (it seems that I used the CV & Gate outputs of the BSP going into the 0-Coast 1V/OCT & TRG inputs). I also sometimes did some semi-modular patching within the 0-Coast to sculpt the sound. I then recorded each part (drums, bass, sequence, lead...) in my DAW with multi-tracking. Hope that helps?

    • @2MinuteWarning
      @2MinuteWarning  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@monohold I totally get you as I was in the same case, i.e. used to subtractive synthesis (and to a lesser extent to additive and FM synthesis). It can need some time to come up with more "musical" sounds (to me, the easiest sounds to come out of this synth were special effects actually 😅), but it can also play fat and percussive sounds, cutting leads etc.🥳

    sorry for another question on your videos, trying to learn and understand how you sequenced all these sounds and layered on top of each other, was it all done through the beatstep pro or recorded each individual parts to a daw?

    • @2MinuteWarning
      @2MinuteWarning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All questions are welcome mate 😃 The 0-Coast synth was sequenced or played live only with the Beatstep Pro. However I used my DAW as a multitrack recorder in order to record each audio part individually. Hope it helps? 😉

      @@2MinuteWarning I see! Im really obsess with just want to know how all the routing works and maybe even how you recorded them. It's something that's tickling my brain a lot with your videos 😅

    • @2MinuteWarning
      @2MinuteWarning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@riothood Haha I see 😅 Well the routing is quite simple actually it mainly depends on the videos I'm making. There are 2 main differences:
      1- Either I'm using the same instrument to play several parts, like here with the Coast to Coast video, but I used the same technique for other videos with the Dreadbox Nymphes (th-cam.com/video/8mUztT-508M/w-d-xo.html) or Erica Synths DB-01 Bassline (th-cam.com/video/TFm6VZftlf8/w-d-xo.html) or Novation CMS (th-cam.com/video/XbGh-X33Rws/w-d-xo.html)
      In these videos, once I've find an idea, I record individually each part (bass, lead, pads...) into my multitrack (i.e. DAW here) using the same instrument (but obviously with different settings)
      2-Or I'm using different instruments (like most of my other videos), in this case its way simpler: roughly speaking, each instrument goes into an effect (when needed), then into a mixer which goes into an audio recorder (generally my DAW 😉)
