    Update. The battery status was checked via the Giant ride App. After 28 months and approximately 15000km the battery has had 130 charges, almost all of these were were done when it was less than 30% full. The battery had dropped 1% in efficiency to 99% and there was no noticeable change in range or performance.

    Hi @laikanuki, thanks for such a great and informative video, I really appreciate the details as a new bike owner. I am hoping you can help point me in the right direction for how you extended your handle bars with a seat pole. My local bike shop told me they can’t be raised.
    Also are you still on your original battery?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Search for bicycle stem riser, plenty available. After more than two years and about 14000km the battery is 97% of its original capacity and I cannot notice any real difference in power or range

    Great review .
    Just a question by moving the speed sensor how does this get rid of the 25 kmh speed limiter ?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The magnet is attached to the pedalcrank which is turning much slower than the back wheel so the speed limiter thinks the bike is going slower than it actuary is, about one third of the actual speed.

    Are you able to list the accessories. I have just bought the bike and wish to add some of the accessories you have shown. Thank you.

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว

      List of accessories. Satori stem riser. Redshift shockstop suspension stem. Takes the vibrations out and cushions the bumps. If a stem riser is required Redshift has a combination riser shockstop stem. Order from USA, Australian distributor too expensive. Satori seat post shock absorber or similar brand. Makes for much smoother ride. Mountain bike pedals, much better than Giant pedals. Rear view mirror, once you use it cannot do without. XOSS bike computer. Less than $50. Fully functional, GPS, new model has bigger screen and larger battery. Comes with excellent app. XOSS also sells front and rear lights at good prices.
      Bike has done 16000km. Expect new rear brake pads about every 5000km. Front pad still original. New chain about every 5000km depending on care and use. Same for cassette, changing gears regularly and maintaining cadence will extend life. At 10000km have full service including tightening up the bike, makes it like new. Rear wheel bearings replaced at 10000km, front wheels bearings will need replacing soon. Bike is heavier, goes faster and harder so wear and tear is a bit more than regular bike. Battery is 97%, still no noticeable drop in range or performance. Motor, brakes and derailleur still as good as new. Still can hit 50kph on flat road with no wind, cruising at 35kph is a breeze.

    Are you thinking of upgrading your bike and what would you upgrade to?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For my purpose the bike is fine. A more powerful motor, a bigger battery, more suspension would be nice but these features are available in the Giant range of mountain bikes but cost more money.

    Does the automatic mode still work with the speed limit removed?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the only difference is at 25kph it keeps powering on up to 50kph if you are good enough

    Would you recommend Cube Reaction hybrid performance bike over this with Bosch performance line motor?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There can be an issue with the Bosch motor if the speed limiter is bypassed, either by relocating speed sensor or having the motor chipped. Bosch is very aggressive in trying to prevent this and if the motor detects this there could be a 504 error and eventually the motor could brick. Research carefully. As far as I know the latest model Roam e+ is still OK to relocate speed sensor without any issues

    I changed the speed sensor with magnet as yours and after almost 60 km distance I had a speed sensor error (red light blinking and NO power at all).Did you ever had this problem ??

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is either magnet is not strong enough, the gap between the magnet and sensor is excessive, make the gap as small as possible or the magnet and sensor are not properly aligned. Try resetting until the red light is extinguished. Having magnet and sensor properly aligned is very important.

    Can you explain your speed sensor relocation and pedal magnet setup in more detail?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unscrew the sensor from rear left stay and move to outside and forward so it is positioned behind the left pedal as it passes by the stay. Tape in position. Buy a fairly strong magnet that can be glued at the back of the left pedal with minimal clearance as it passes by the sensor. Enjoy. There are videos on TH-cam that show the procedure.

      Use the sensor already on the bike. Unscrew it from the frame and position it on the other side so it is behind the pedal. Use tape to keep it in position

    whats the max range if your on eco mode?

    • @laikanuki
      @laikanuki  ปีที่แล้ว

      I average about 90ks using level 1-3 power assistance. Just using eco should give 100+km
