I fit etched name and numberplates to my Lima Class 52 Western Enterprise correcting the number from D1023 to D1000. I hope you enjoy watching. Regards Paul.
I'm well thanks hope you are well too. Quite pleased with the results. Getting more confident with it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Regards Paul.
Good video Paul - interesting adhesive, will try it out - I have that very loco to replate along with Golden Ochre, Maroon, Green and Blue specimens as well... lots of fiddling with etched plates to come!
Glue and glaze can also be used to make small windows in models. I wanted to do this one because the number D1023 is incorrect. D1000 is the right number. Only my second attempt. Best of luck with your models. Regards Paul.
Very useful tips, Paul, thanks. I have one of these Desert Sand models too. Red-backed name boards look great but where did you see the photos of the original in that condition please?
The only photo I have seen is page 119 Class 52s a tribute to the Westerns David Birt. It shows D1013 photographed in 1980 depicted in this livery with red plates. Colour photos were rarer in the 1960s. Fox Transfers recommended red plates for desert sand livery.
Thanks Paul. I now see that livery was applied for a brief period when running on the Severn Valley Railway in 1980. Comment on the Flickr photo suggests it was actually an undercoat for BR Blue then. All colour photos I’ve seen of the 1961 original livery show black background nameplates. Anyway, a lovely job so I’ll get some etched plates for mine too.
Hi Paul
I hope you are well
Yes a great video.
So great tips there.
Main thing is that you like it and happy with the outcome.
Keep safe ARP
