This is truly wholesome and cute. These scenes truly depict their humanity. The devs tried to show us these characters have many similarities to us but unfortunately, they were stripped from their opportunity to live a normal life. These details may just be aesthetics or just extra content, but details like those give humanity to the characters that make them more memorable or relatable. We were blessed by Monolithsoft devs who deeply care about these things

The first Xenoblade game still has the edge as my favorite in the series, but smack me if this one doesn't possess its own deeply charming and impressionable qualities - elements that transform the product as a whole into something endearing that I will look back upon with strong feelings of nostalgia for the rest of my life. And these rest spot scenes are definitely one of those example qualities. Many may overlook it, but it really is aspects such as these which elevate a work of fiction from something that is simply a form of entertainment/escapism to something that genuinely feels alive. Thanks indeed to Monolith Soft for yet another truly memorable experience! I remain evermore interested in what they will produce next.

I like to imagine Noah’s playing the eryth sea theme for Melia. Took one look at her and was like ‘yes, this captures you perfectly’ and melia’s like ‘this reminds me of home’
My favorite scene is Lanz and Triton talking. The characters talk about how annoying he is, but Lanz and Triton just talk and laugh and have a good time.
It would have been so cool if they played that duet part in Frontier Village from the original Xenoblade, the one that's like 30 seconds in. It would fit so well!

Honestly, most of the gear looks rather light and portable, most likely because Kevesi and Agnian Soldiers wouldn’t want bulky camping gear slowing them down during recon missions or situations where one would have to make a hasty escape. So I would think that most of it is carried by the different party members due to said portability.
My wonder is what happens to Riku and Manana if they are mot selected as Hero members and the entire party wipes out, I see them scramming from battle or trying to revive someone afterwards.
Uhm… ok. Kinda looks like her hair rig doesn’t have enough bone constraints to bend down entirely. Then again, the long hair wasn’t really intended for this scene.
@@sonario0074 More like they've cleverly rigged the hair such that emulates hair physics without actually doing hair physics (since Switch would probably die lol) so that 90% of the time the physics look good, but if they tilt their head or bend over it doesn't look right.
I love some of the simpler details too around NPCs and Colonies - like kitchen areas getting long lines around mealtimes, visitors from other places showing up in other colonies (sometimes these are setups for later sidequests, but sometimes it's just someone visiting), and even just the minor (not signaled) conversations between NPCs you can listen in on to get slight followups to past sidequests or NPCs.
Mio and Miabia playing their flutes together is just so fricken adorable. Noah and Mio playing together a few time too, but the one with them playing, with manana dancing to the tune and lanz and sena working out was just great. And eunie sleeping on sena was precious. Also, the Nia ones are just great. I'm glad that I got to see all of those ones during gameplay. Really, they're basically all just great, even the 1 or 2 kinda boring ones are still great! Thank you for this compilation so I could see the ones I never got to see while playing, like fiona and laz and the one with mio and sena stretching together. Also, some people find the quotes annoying, but I simply love those as well. The girl with the gall and her yippie! Lanz wanting it a bit meating and being the mvp, eunie the boss and "what?your suposed to be following me"! Between the camp scenes, and the battle/after battle/inbetween battle/charecter switching quotes, they really gave these charecters, a lot of extra charm and personality outside of the cutscenes.
The vignettes of interaction at rest spots are emblematic of the ephemeral nature of their world in light of their mission. They may just be simple animations with basic prop setups, but the sheer personality they exude in the moments they pass in that liminal space feels truly like a transient "now" that is intended to come and go like a dream. And with that, we can clearly see the nature of the "life" that Moebius is harvesting to sustain that frozen time.
The rest spots were my favorite part of the game. The cute interactions paired with the peaceful music were really calming after going ham on a level 40 boss.

I love the Noah and Melia one, it makes sense she would hang out with him, he accepts her as a friend rather than a Queen rather quickly and I'm sure he also reminds her of Shulk in some ways, and it's also just nice to see her get some enjoyment out of life
I can't help but notice that almost every display of platonic affection is always girl on girl. Sleeping on a shoulder, doing stretches, doing each other's hair. But if you're a guy, no touching (unless you've gotten to first base). Further exemplified by the fact that when the thing happens in Chapter 6, Noah doesn't get to hug Mio... but Sena does. Not trying to start anything, just a weird observation.
Noah and Lanz use each other as back rests when sitting on the ground on occasion. I'd say that's a little male platonic affection. But yes, overall, not a lot of male touching of, well, anybody, is shown.
This is just one video with the "rare" animations, not all of them, and even here there are 2 cases of, like you've put it, "guy touching". Compared to 3 cases of "girl touching" it's not that much of a difference, is it? As for Sena hugging Mio, theres plenty of context perfectly justifying it. At that point, Mio and Noah know each other for a few months, while Mio and Sena have been close friends for years, with Sena looking up to Mio, to an unhealthy degree of trying to imitate her. Through the story Sena's behavior presents hints of depression and even suicidal thoughts. Her journey is to somewhat realize she doesn't constantly need to reaffirm why she's there and she has her own value as a person. Having that profile of her its expected that she would desperately need reassurance and comforting. Noah has been known to have trouble empathising with people and often getting lost in his own thoughts. And then there's the fact he just had a long talk about his convictions. Given what's happening at the time it is very much like Noah to get focused more quickly. He gets to hold hands with Mio for a moment anyway. I'd think Mio would've happily hugged any one of the party in the situation, but only Sena went for that.
Man I really wish we had some way to control the camera at the rest stops, it'd be nice to look at the little details or even zoom back in to one of the animations if you missed it.
That first one’s a joke about Nia being Gormotti/part-cat and a callback to how Nia doesn’t like spicy food in the Addam’s Appetite H2H. Cats don’t handle hot foods very well, and so in Japan if you’re someone who can’t handle hot or spicy food you’re often called “cat-tongued” or having a kid’s taste which is what the localized H2H went with (which also works outside of Japan as there’s a saying that eating spicy food puts hair on a man’s chest). Anyone who’s seen or read One Piece up to this point should be familiar with this because that’s the exact same joke used for Nekomamushi whenever he has trouble with oden (and yet he’s OK with freshly made lasagna).

Mashiro & Ranz was entertaining to see too. I think Yuzuriha's uniform is the best, I always give that uniform to long hair Mio, she look cute on it.

These are very great scenes to establish personalities to all these endearing characters but man, sometimes I'm taken out of it when one of the characters glitches and just stands in place clipping through someone else. There was an instance Noah just stood blankly behind Lanz's legs while he was cooking something, it was very odd. lol
I had that too but, kinda worse. Taion was planning something on his table and Noah was right behind him. But you know, very, very, VERY close. And because Taion was bent a little to check his stuff on the table and Noah is just standing straight, well... Need I say more?

Just tried seeing all the various interactions between 2 characters in my playthrough, and the ones i missed from this video are Taion+Miyabi and Lanz+Fiona. There are definitely more than this though since I've seen Riku+Valdi, Mio+Monica, Mio+Fiona, another Lanz+Triton (where they are chatting), another Eunie+Sena (I think Sena is playing with some string?) and another Riku+Manana (where Manana gets Riku to look the other way and reaches for his hair/hat thing). Other than the flute playing, there is another Noah+Mio in the very 1st scene of this video too as well. Lastly, I think there is also Mio+Nia but the camera never zoomed in so I couldn't tell.
I remember how thoroughly people censored "Seven" joining the party in XBC1, now everyone just shows Nia and Melia in the party and long-haired Mio without any warning.

Some of these were rare? I saw many of these plenty of times. Anyway, I don't know if it's just my impression but the further you go in the story and the more the two groups share interactions in the camps; a nice touch it that's indeed the case.

Just tried seeing all the various interactions between 2 characters in my playthrough, and the ones i missed from this video are Taion+Miyabi and Lanz+Fiona. There are definitely more than this though since I've seen Riku+Valdi, Mio+Monica, Mio+Fiona, another Lanz+Triton (where they are chatting), another Eunie+Sena (I think Sena is playing with some string?) and another Riku+Manana (where Manana gets Riku to look the other way and reaches for his hair/hat thing). Other than the flute playing, there is another Noah+Mio in the very 1st scene of this video too as well. Lastly, I think there is also Mio+Nia but the camera never zoomed in so I couldn't tell.
I remember how thoroughly people censored "Seven" joining the party in XBC1, now everyone just shows Nia and Melia in the party and long-haired Mio without any warning.
At the risk of overstating it you are history's greatest hero for putting this together

Some of these were rare? I saw many of these plenty of times. Anyway, I don't know if it's just my impression but the further you go in the story and the more the two groups share interactions in the camps; a nice touch it that's indeed the case.

@@dinivex5212 you have to also consider that a game cant be consumed at the same rate or time as a movie. Xenoblade is HUGE and not everyone has the time to get through it as fast as you did
