  • LĪGO, also known as Midsummer or Summer Solstice, is Latvia's biggest celebration. We celebrate the shortest night and the longest day of the year. During the solstice, all four elements of nature must be involved - earth, air, fire, and water. Observing and performing Solstice traditions cleanses the body, thoughts, spirit, and energy. The rituals and traditions have been passed down from generation to generation since the pagan times of Europe. This is truly one of the ultimate celebrations in Northern Europe.
In total, there are 111 Midsummer Night traditions. And now they are coming back - this is a wonderful time to get to know the culture of this land!
