Hi! I believe you are wrong when you said Regine copied Mariah's version. First, Mariah is using Falsetto in the early part of the song whereas Regine is using head tone (heady mix). Second, Regine's riffs and runs deserve acknowledgment because they were not copied. Although doing runs is not typically the style of Regine, she has to use for this specific performance because the song is RNB. The dynamics of the performance is pretty much akin to the original version, which is appropriate. I don't really see any Mariah in their performance.
