My first hyperdection was on VR at max volume two days after the first player was hyperdected. I almost shit my pants.

I just had my first one this morning... I feel like I did the same thing she did. Just stopped and panicked.
Same thing happened to me. (another date obviously) first and last time the game made me yeet my feces into my pants
The thing about being hyperdicted is that fsd is always the same, feels almost like a loading screen. Then you are ripped from that loading screen and thrown into a vast nothingness with an unknown alien and a whole lot of terrifying sounds
I had my first one last night but IT WAS A GROUP OF 3 DIFFERENT THARGOIDS
And ever since this encounter Kolo's been making Thargoid shaped rosemary & olive bread...
FD's sound department is absolutely top notch. That low rumble the thing makes gives me goosebumps every time.
Honestly the sound is one of the best parts about elite dangerous and honestly it has the best sound design I’ve ever heard

My hyperdiction was crazy, I didn't know what was happening. I was totally weirded out. But when they fell back to observe and make noised it got blacker and one of them was really close. They stopped glowing, then I went to move away when my power came back and I ran into one of them. They didn't like that at all. Then it was rebuy time.

Original Elite was just the same. Every hyper-jump the Thargoid was expected. We could fight them. I died mostly. Mostly.

@@myname-pe2pe yes I played elite firebird on the Commodore 64. Look at some videos on TH-cam, you maybe able to download a free emulation from the frontier website. The cube stations were a thing you had to fly through the letter box. I spent hours and days playing.

LOL getting hyperdicted the first time is TERRIFYING! The bloody malignant space crickets are in their element in Hyperspace; we remember we face them at our peril. Once they're in normal space they're just another enemy to destroy but in Witchspace, the Thargoids rule. (Shudder).

Is Infrasound used in Elite Dangerous? The sound we feel rather hear that produces fear?
Most audio systems would cut out anything that low, but bassy sounds can still do the trick
not played it, but i’d guess it uses a pitch wash sub base (sounds just above 20Hz) since most people don’t have speakers or headphones capable of playing infrasound like in a cinema, but it has the a similar effect, often triggering a fight or flight sensation.

They usually shoot you if you are carrying thargoid material
Also, I'm pretty sure that chances of being hyperdicted are increased while carrying thargoid material (most times I've been hyperdicted I was carrying said cargo)
You're lucky that you weren't carrying any Thargoid material otherwise they would have blasted you. It's not nearly as cool when they practically one-shot you to the rebuy screen.
you know that feeling you get when someone tells you that someone died ? that was the exact feeling i got when Thargoid ships hyperdicted me for the first time :D
I first met them in Pleiades system during a time of high Thargoid activity. Every couple of jumps the Inquisition would come. The shock factor diminished but they're always spooky, every time.

I was shocked when my passenger mission ask me to visit to the pleiade, I was scared that I saw MANY thargoïd around me in almost each solar system!!! Happily I never had hyperdict by a thargoïd. :P

the moment when we all first experienced this... prepared or not is still frightening. the balls with which the thargoids approach us humans is stunning, i guess its more to their luck, they arent interdicting many anti-xeno craft in these scenarios

@@EnricoZulu Random in the sense that you can't predict where and when they'll happen. However, if you fly near Thargoid space - the Pleiades - you WILL attract killer flower attention. So long as you don't have Thargoid material in your hold (Meta-alloy) you're fine - they're not really interested. If you do though....
Fly to the Pleiades with Guardian tech...they will be your BEST FRIEND EVER!!!

I had the exact first reaction after sheer terror I had 2 thargiod class attack ships play pong with me. Bumped me about like 5 times b4 buggering off. Had to go silent running to get that damn slime cooked off

This is the best reaction I’ve seen. All the others I’ve seen are people who know what they’re looking for and they are hunting for it, but this is the only one I’ve seen that happens without the pilot expecting it and it captures the absolute confusion, surprise and bewilderment at having something completely alien (figuratively and literally) occur.

Nice one, have never had a hyperdiction before though have tended to stay away from that part of the game, which would annoy these Thargoids. Have visited a base before and been scanned from one, and the designers have done a tremendous job making them so creepy. There's just something a bit 'off' about them. I'll just leave them be when I continue exploring when DW2 starts up me thinks!
Btw this is why, when in Thargoid space (and thus prone to hyperdiction) you should never jump on fumes, expecting to fuel up at the next star. If you get hyperdicted, you get dropped in the original system, a few hundred thousands LS from the main star. If you do not have enough fuel to jump to the nearest OBAFGKM system or to get to it (if it is scoopable), you are pretty screwed. Well, you have to call the Fuel Rats, but hey, you can avoid that. Just do always have enough fuel for 2 jumps when in goid space.
(For clarification, I am not saying that is what happened here, just using the opportunity to illustrate what might happen (and has happened to more than a few pilots)).

When a contradiction isn't enough
My only problem with encountering Thagroids is that why aren't all ships shielded??? This is 1000 years in the future. Do they not have that ancient passive technology? I just find it unbelievable... 🇺🇸
I love how after a 'diction the goid is polite enough to get in front of your canopy so you can see it. Almost like it's going "Hey, uhhh sorry about this and I know you were probably on your way to someplace important but I just wanted to check to see if you had some 'stuff'. Wont take but a second, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand good. You're good. Sorry about that, friendo, have a good day! (flies off)"

I remember the first time that happened to me. Now it happens to me every time I play when I'm in the Pleiades sector. So my ship always has a FIeldN module now.

my first interdiction was unlucky since i got jumped by a whole squad of Thargoids (4)
If you really want to get interdicted by the thargoids multiply time do what i did, get a corrosive cargo hold, go to the crashed thargoid crash site, don't' shoot the thargoid sensor pods just pick them up, then jump back to a station, you will need a thargoid inhibitor module so you don't lose power because they gonna attack you lol, if i can do it, so can you :) done in an ASP explorer
In my case it happened in another situation, I was in Theo bug killer, farming materials, and out of nowhere it appeared, not just one but two at once and I didn't know whether to move and try to escape, or wait What would happen.
This reminds me of my first encounter, although mine was less quiet awe and more aggressively trying to reboot despite having zero access to anything, and then quickly doing a full reverse thrust once I got power so I could simultaneously keep an eye on the great spacebeast and retreat
The moment would have been much better for the viewers without the weird giant triangles randomly appearing and disrupting the video...
Don't worry I've got a fleet carrier and I only like 20 ships but I haven't yet even accounted a thargoid yet

Was helping a friend today get meta alloy for fsd booster upgrade and he got interdicted by thargoids. He then went all the way to farseer and noticed he had no meta alloy... They stole it! Smh..
After that I'd have to wash my ship top to bottom and inside and out then we would Both seek counseling.

They should make it now that when you get hyperdicted you can use a Frame shift boost to bypass the thargoid and go into a animation where it goes boosting in 3 2 1 and boom your outta there

I've been traveling towards Red and Green Glory (even farther from the bubble than Sagittarius A*) for over a week now, and I haven't encountered a single Thargoid vessel. Perhaps you can only get interdicted by them in certain parts of the galaxy?
I haven't been interdicted yet. I wonder are they afraid? LoL
