I’ve been to this museum twice since 2014, and hope to make a third visit in the future to see Granite Rock 10 in operation. Btw, great video, I like the music choices.
4294 was delivered in deplorable condition. It needs a new firebox, all new boiler tubes, three sections of boiler replaced, a new atomizer, new compressors and water/fuel lines... long story shorter, the museum has absolutely no intention of it operating, much less moving, ever again. She's happily sleeping, blissfully unaware all of her sisters have been scrapped
It would be nice if the excursion line was extended, but last time I talked to volunteers it's an uphill battle given how many houses have closely sprung up along the route south of the Bath and it'd be really difficult to reopen the line further down. Too many people having objections and stuff.
Granite Rock Co. #10 is currently the only operational steam locomotive over in Sacramento until Santa Fe 1010 sometime very soon.
I’ll admit, that’s pretty neat where red paint is starting to show through on ATAF 1010 when it was all painted red in the 1970s I believe.
