I like how you took a fairly dreary photo and turned it into a painting that was full of life by adding in subtle color everywhere. Instead of feeling drab and grey my emotions feel happy and wanting to smile. I love the sparkle and the color choices!
This is a very helpful tutorial and a beautiful painting. I like your impressionist style as well. There are a lot of different videos on TH-cam on how to prepare a canvas. It would be great to see how you do this if possible. Thank you.
Another really clear and helpful demo. I find boats difficult. But my clincher will be getting tonal value right. That's a tough one for me. Thank you so much😊😊😊
I’ve learned a lot. Thank you. I’m developing a similar style but I tend to be fiddling to have sharper and more literal renditions .You have encouraged me to be much more impressionist and I can’t wait to try a looser and better overall colour harmony into my work. However , on reflection , could you consider a slightly brighter sky for this scene. To me the sky looked just a bit lifeless compared to the rest of the painting.
Looking forward to watching this but was just wondering. You mentioned you don’t use winton anymore. Do you find a big difference. I still have a lot of winton.
@HelenThorne-or1ho They sit in oil between sessions. Very rarely need to wash them. In the description there is a link to a video where I discuss this. If I do use any white spirit, the old stuff gets used as fire lighter!

Such a mundane scene made to appear so interesting - amazing! You're quite the artist.
Thank you 😊
“Good artist edits stuff out to make a good painting” . This statement of yours is my eureka moment. Thank you for simplifying everything .
Glad it was useful 👍

Great example of loose painting Robert. Its amazing how our minds will fill in the detail that isn't there. 😃😃😎😎

This could be why the town and water seems so lively. If the sky was also lively the effect may be lost.
Fantastic instruction!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 😀

(Robert, what do you do with your mineral spirits when you can't use it anymore?)
I very rarely use mineral spirits. Thanks for watching 😀
@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee What do you use to clean your brushes then?

@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee Thank you.
Hi this demo is excellent 👌 did you use any medium to thin the paint 🎨🖌️❤
I sometimes use a little linseed oil, however this was paint straight from the tube. Thanks for watching.
Eres fantástico!
You are very kind.
Did you use a projector ?
This was painted a while a go, quite possibly!
