A huge NBA2k fan here but I have to admit NBA live is turning my head this year immense improvement. I may buy both. Well done EA.
I think once NBA live switch over to the new engine (frost bite) the graphics would look better and gameplay would run smoother my opinion
That didn't happen for Fifa or Madden, why would it happen here??
frostbite is only used for the story modes. When EA switched over for Fifa, they didnt touch the general gameplay, it was only for cut scenes

No No No, The graphics will barely get better, but the lighting will definitely improve, but the engine is not going to make it smoother at all, the graphics and lighting will look better buts thats it, it's basically going to be the same game...
Trust me frostbite didn't fix shit with madden 18 they still have fake ass animations that don't even look remotely realistic
I just finished playing a game of nba live 18 and I couldn't put my finger on what it is about this game that's weird. I finally figured it out. This game is very generic. It's not just this game it's all EA games. The only EA game that didn't have that generic feel was fight night. I ran the fast break with Lopez and his weight of movement feels the same ad Lonzo Ball. I remember in all pro 2k8 Barry Sanders felt totally different than oj simpson. The game is fun this year but it plays how a college game would.

jdgreen214 true EA just has bad physics engines for their games. 2K was awesome but 2k18 and 17 you can definalty notice a difference in their engine. Its getting worse man.

Live is much more enjoyable IMO. 2K has better graphics, yes, but Live has a better scoreboard, crowd, shot meter, and is just more enjoyable overall.

I've been buying 2k for over a decade mainly because I love playing with classic teams. If Live were to add classic teams I think they could truly start to take back the dominant piece of market share. I'm not loyal to either brand because I'm a savvy consumer. 2k has been the better game. But this is the first year where I've actually paid attention to Live and I like what I see. There's nothing wrong with 2k having competition, it's good for gaming consumers because we now have more choices. 2k still has the robotic arcade-like animation of NBA JAM but if you look at the details this game simply has better physics than 2k. 2k get's the edge in term of graphics but I'm all about the realistic movement, not canned animation. This game is more free flowing.

With the ESPN presentation, this game would knock out 2k.

The more I watch NBA Live gameplay, the more I want to try it.
Once live switches to frostbite,the gameplay and animations will be on par with 2k but live needs those historic teams man.
I'm going to buy this day 1 they improved on live16 imo they made the game more fun to play made the A.L defense and rebounding better still need to work on some of the bugs like the free-throw

what live should make is a remake of NBA jam something they don't have to worry to much about the graphics or the countless amount of times Westbrook dunked on the whole team, or lonzo moving like flash to the basket. They should have just held on to this game and worked a lot more on it for next year.

Do you have camera choices with how you view the game ? The demo had very limited options.. If I can’t view the game the way I want, I won’t play the game .. ESPN camera view was decent if I can actually zoom in if I wanted ... I felt like I was too far from the action...
This game just needs a little bit more. But it is wayyyyyy better than old live. I think i may cop this over 2k this year!

I feel like Live looks better and more realistic when the camera is showing the whole court but when the camera is focusing on the players (like on the replays) 2K looks miles better
Hmmm, some mixed feeling. Me as a nba2k veteran with like 5k h gameplay of few years, have to say i see alot of things here which i miss by 2k. Nba live got my attention for sure. I dont how that gameplay feels , becaus it looks a little bit too arcady. But scoreboard, slow motions, feeling etc. is pretty impressive. good job EA

My problem with Live is that when I want to do a pullup jumper from mid range the player will go in for a layup when I push square. They need to change drive layup to (hold) up on the left stick and square. Also, anyone know how to pass fake? lol
I wanted to like this game but it just feels so clunky. Just played through the prelude and it feels so good. Even compared to 2k17 it's a huge upgrade.

If the players backs weren't so stiff, is like it even more, but I already believe that nba live is better than 2k. Nba live just needs to add the dribbling animation where their backs lower, kind of like kyrie's back does when he sizing up on his iso
why does everybody say that live is trash??? the only thing that I can complain about is that kyrie, harden, and curry don't look good, but 2k has had problems with getting curry right too, this is the first year that 2k got curry right. Also, live has the freaking WNBA in it! Why hasn't this happened before?!?!

remind me of 2k10, where it was easy to take the ball into the hole, dunking, lay ups were too easy to get in the paint if you know how to play.......its why one of my friends like the old 2k10 because he can get in the paint easily, the newer 2k make it more real by making it less easy to dunk on each play, hopefully 2k18 do not go back to those old days

You do realize that NBA players have little trouble getting to the bssket right? Not only that if anyone has an issue with it, tone down the A.I. reaction to dribble moves and it will fix it. As far as shot percentage is concerned, again tune the impact of shot contest up.
GODSPEED 33 no nba players do not have it easy to go to the lane, there calls that the ref call offensive foul, only time you get to the lane easily is when someone not paying attention and you slip behind them without the person looking and get a easy pass going to the hoop, no one is going from 3 point line to all the way to the hole like he doing in this game, are you watching this game properly ???

The problem with Live 18 is the passing, jumping, shooting is so arcade-like. Another thing is that it is 2018, and they still cant make accurate cyberface of the players.

As once a super nba live fan I must say although there trying, it's still a bit robotic to me graphics r nowhere near nb2k. Live was my first love but 2k has been crushing them, live still has work to do to out do 2k there gonna have to reach deep and bring out some new technology into the game or they will always be in 2k shadow..

I bought 2k back in the day and I hated it. Graphics okay but boring and hard to figure out controls. Plus the Computer always win. NBA Live is awesome . Easy to play and the announcers and the crowd is always NBC live.

it does look good, but the animation looks a tad stiff and robotic...it also doesn't have the swagger that NBA 2k has, especially after crossovers and dunks..I know it's still not out yet, so it may still do well
I got this and 2k coming from GF. Whichever PLAYS the best I'll keep. Having Jeff Van Gundy commentate is a plus too. That's my nigga lol

Game still got work to do, but gameplay improved a lot from Live 16. Also it looks much better and feels good playing Live 18. On the other side, 2k is falling in my opinion. 2K18 looks awful, 2k14 was better than 2k18
Compared to 2k this game is still trash. Now this is a upgrade from past Live games but still the game is stiff,body types are similar, and isn't as fast paced as 2k. And for the people saying the prelude is trash compared to the Live demo where they let you upgrade and play online...yes Its true the prelude wasn't as good, but the point of a demo/prelude is too showcase or tease a bit of the game. Lmao it's not suppose to last you weeks that's why you wait for the full game. Good job ea but 2k still got ya beat in basketball games
Someone tell me why everyone who takes a jumpshot looks like they're leaning backwards? The player builds are terrible too! Paul George is damn near more buff that Steven Adams! And their jumpshots don't even look good. Nobody bends their torso...
