Dad, I Want To Play Jingle Ball By Myself Today
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 26 ก.ย. 2024
- Todd was unusually impatient wanting his Jingle Ball. Todd knows when I tell him soon he will get what he wants in 15 minutes or less and will wait. Today he wanted his Jingle Ball now. We have to put it up when he's not playing with it because there is only one Jingle Ball he will play with and has no interest in all the others. Once I started playing with him he only brought it back once and decided he would rather just play with it by himself.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 45 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

After he asked the 3rd time I was laughing out loud.
Most of the time, he's very patient, but he can be persistent
He's making you wait the way you made him wait. There have been numerous studies done showing animals have an instinctive sense of fairness, the experiment with the capuchin monkeys and the grapes being the most famous one. Todd, I think, considers making you wait for him to return his jingle ball as fair recompense for making him wait to play.
Very possible. He does know time, and when I tell him soon, he knows he will get what he asked for within 15 minutes. To you point though, I did tell him I would do it soon, and as soon as I got dressed so you are probably right.
How dare Dad sit at the computer screen of sadness for 5 seconds when Todd has demanded jingle ball! Lol such a cute little face of indignation
😂 he is the most expressive cat I have ever seen
Jingle ball fun.
😄
I love Todd💜
Thank you 😊
Loving Todd❤ my first time seeing what a handsome and smart boy😮
Aww thank you and welcome! I'm glad you are here.
Just an orb of sadness 😂 The one magical jingleball better never get lost or broken 🫣
All hail the One True Jingle Ball 😄
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I wonder if the bells sound slightly different to a cat's ear, and he likes the timbre of the Chosen One.
The One Jingle Ball to rule them all 💫 Hoping there’s no hypno 🐸 rolling around in it!
@@presentfuture7563I think is that or the color. It is only one with those colors.
So funny!
Todd, Keeping daddy on task.
He does, he doesn't forget anything I've promised him.
I love those Glamour meows. She sounds like a squeaky screen door. 😸
Lol she's a talker. 😊
Either Todd didn't hear her and come running, or playing by himself with the Jingle Ball was more important. Hard to believe. 😄
@@LindaVernon or he wanted to make me wait for making him wait.
so many cute kitties
Thank you 😊
Todd says that due to your lack of urgency to retrieve my jingle ball for me to play with, as your punishment you do not get to play with me with it.
That is a real possibility
As a pet parent. I KNOW all about that ONE toy. Lol.. you're a awesome pet papa! ❤️ glad Todd has you!
Thanks so much
I always knew our cats have emotions and express them, but no I’m seeing how rich and complex their emotional lives are. Todd has shown us his concern for the other cats’ health, his unhappiness with your being gone away for work, his occasional jealousy of other cars getting your attention m and his endearingly childlike demands for play. This is helping me understand my own cat better.😊
You know Todd best, and always believe in his sweetness, which is so lovely. However, as a cat person myself; I see Todd's playing alone as: You made me ask 4X for jingle ball, now you can wait for me to return it on MY time! Payback. Could be wrong but I've definitely had cats with that attitude. Todd is just sweet about it. ???
No that very well could be!
Todd:You made me wait so now I make you wait
😂
Too funny! He's like, Nope. You took too long getting it for me so now you don't get to join in the fun. LOL
Pretty much 😂
I love the way he makes eye contact with you. He knows exactly what you are saying.
Yes, I think he understands a lot of what is said to him.
LOLOL! 😆Cats are such curious individuals. Todd owns 49 jingle balls but plays with only one. I'd love to be able to ask him why. Such a handsome lad.
It started with 4 and he only wanted the one. I keep buying them to try and find another one that would be acceptable but not luck so far. Lol
Todd had a productive day planned with a bright and early start, and Daddy is holding him back. 😂
😂
Todd is giving you the silent treatment!
Pretty much. Lol
4:08 that look.....just like a kid when they get contrary.
He is not above acting like a "Todd-ler" at tomes. Lol
That is just so funny…playing with only one! Well dad, you have your work cut out for you! Love❤️Todd! 😁
Aww, thank you. I'm glad you are here!
He's such a special kitty, only one jungle ball is good enough, hope it never breaks. Todd is not even my cat but following him gives me so much joy.
Aww, thank you, I am so glad he makes you happy. I am just amazed and overwhelmed at the outpouring from all his followers.
Lol that is a cat for ya!❤❤
😂
All hail Todd, mighty jingle ball hunter.
😊
Todd is just great, It looks as if he did not want Glamor to have his jingle ball! so he stayed down the hall.
Love how Todd threaded himself under Dad’s leg right before playing jingle ball - a Daddy bridge!
Yes, and he will walk between my legs as I'm walking. He is going to get seriously stepped on or trip daddy one of these days.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Oof, I hope you don’t get tripped!
Todd’s got bloomers on!😂
Big fluffy ones. 😊
I am laughing at Todd pressing the Jingle Ball button repeatedly!
Yeah, he can get demanding. Check this one out when he was having a tantrum with his buttons. th-cam.com/video/EikiA3XmoFk/w-d-xo.html
Oh Glamor is a chatty girl isn't she ? It's amazing that Todd will only play with one ball ,despite having so many ,you must live in dread of losing it . I am learning the importance of special toys with our newly adopted little 1 yr old tabby girl, Tilly .She was somewhat traumatised when she arrived and very nervous, but loves interactive play with toys .I'm using play sessions to help us bond and build her confidence .She has become very attached to a fluffy orange worm attachment for a fishing pole toy ,I have other worms ,feather attachments etc but this orange one is guaranteed to get her engaged and happily chasing ,pouncing etc .I have no idea why the orange one is favoured but i'm thinking i'm going to need a backup .
Just like kids, they have their special toys like the fluffy worm. Glamour is a talker, that's for sure.
And I’ve just adopted a three yr old orange kitty - a girl. My orange boy was mourning our lovely old cat who died 3 months ago and he was immensely sad. Lia has cheered him up very much - and she has a green worm on a stick😁! Doesn’t care too much for the other things on sticks…😁
Thanks for adopting and taking care of her! 👍 💯
I'm glad the new adoption has helped your sad boy ,and of course you have given a new life to Lia too .We also adopted after the loss of our much loved old tuxedo boy to oral cancer .Helping her begin to gain confidence and trust is also helping me ,it's always a two way street I think 🙂 @@sabinekoch3448
I know the exact one you mean! One of our cats, Oliver, also loves interactive play, especially wand toys. We have about 5 or 6 of then around the house and a bunch of different attachments for them, so we try to change them up to capture his interest (and the interest of our other cats). While he is generally happy to play with any wand toy, there is something about that orange worm that he just loves to death. We have 2, one that has a bell and one that has lost the bell. Whenever the one with the bell makes an appearance you can practically see him light up. In 10 seconds flat he goes from a 5 year old cat to a 5 month old kitten, and no matter how long we play with that wand, he can't get enough. The second we put it down he is right there begging for more.
We have a purple worm one that he likes almost as much, but the orange worm just holds some sort of magic for him.
I wish we could get into cats heads and figure out why so many of them have 1-2 very specific toys that are their very favorites, but ignore 30 other toys which look and work exactly the same.
"Jingle ball now Dad!" 😂
😂
Love your sense of humor…
Aww, thank you. I try to make it fun. 😊
To think I said the same "you ready?" when playing fetch with my fetching cats.
😊
I sent an earlier episode to my vet; he was astounded! 😁 👏🏻👏🏻
Cool! What did he say, if you don't mind me asking?
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalkshe said that he never heard of this before, and that is very interesting. My dentist has a nonverbal 5 year old, and I’m going to show her too. I presume it was meant for humans first?
@@HadenufyetYes, a similar scheme is used for nonverbal children, although their buttons are smaller.
Non verbal children often pictures or an i-pad with pictures, if the child can't point they can use their eyes to point at the pictures. Sign language can of course be used too.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I've been wondering what your vet thinks. "My cat told me he's in pain" is way outside of normal vet experience.
"Orb of Sadness!" Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Seems that our Toddie is growing up, playing by himself. (PS - Love the Texas wall hanging!)
Lol. I was born in Texas, and it will always be home to me.
I always think of these balls as "Midnight Crazies" because that is how some were labeled when I bought for my pet rats. The name still makes me laugh, but so does "Orb of Sadness" 😂
If we could only figure what the difference is Lol
In case you find this info of value... We had toys for our cats (9 over the years) that they'd ignore but we knew they theoretically enjoyed. We'd wash them in soapy warm water and found after they dried some would actually get engagement. We also tried spraying cat nip on those that still seemed to get limited or no play if washing didn't work. That, too, brought some playful, short and long term results. If interested, you may wish to explore smells as a reason for such curious rejection and re-engagement. Much appreciation for all you do.
Thanks!
Thank you. I'm thinking this ball smells different, or sound different. He will kot play with the other ones. I have tried washing and he does not like catnip. There is something special about this one ball. We have 40 now because I keep getting more trying to find another he will play with to no avail. It will be a sad day when something happens to this Jingle Ball.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks maybe you could sleep with the orb of sadness under your pillow and that would help? He might like it more if it smells like his dad. ❤ Thank you for sharing Todd with us! He is so very special.
@@mygirldarbythat's a good idea.
awww Todd and his jingle ball. So cute! He was really persistent, wasn't he? LOL.
Most times, he's good about waiting when I say soon, but yes, he really wanted it
He was keeping you waiting like you kept him waiting 😹😹😹
Quite possibly
Glamour has such a sweet meow ❤
She does, and she is beautiful, but she is 15 pounds of Catitude stuffed into an 8 1/2 pound body. Lol
I have learned cats do have favorites mine is usually food or treats but they can also get attached to a favorite toy as well , its cute
Thank you :)
My spouse and I have four cats, we'd never get any silence if we had talking buttons like this for the cats to use.
That's why I have the buttons upstairs away from where we watch TV and sleep. You have to be able to take a break when you need to.
Is it the color? He was pawing it then saw the color. Might be a clue. Love our Todd.
I'm thinking color or sound. He moved it just enough to herlar the bell, but you are right The One True Jingle Ball is the only one with these colors.
Todd was having fun. I'm surprised Glamour didn't draw him back.
I have been known to sleep with a new toy in my bed for a week before introducing it to rid it of the dreaded invader smell.
I wonder if the bell sounds nicer? Let's hope if it ever dies you can transplant the bell into one of the others.
Not without making a hole the bell will fall out if. I like the idea of sleeping with a toy for a while. I will try that.
The "orb of sadness" text got me!
You need to watch the Jingle ball vs orb of sadness video. It is hilarious imo

Dad: Jingle Ball very soon, okay?
Todd, probably: Unacceptable father
😂
Jingle ball, jingle ball, jingle ball Todd! Batting, and chasing, and rolling down the hall! Todd only wants to play with his jingle ball! ❤😺😸
😊
He want his jingle ball ❤❤
Yes, he loves it. 😊
Does Todd ever play jingle ball on the stairs by himself? Ours love dropping things down the steps and chasing them down
Yes, he will knock it down the stairs, but he loves it on the first floor because it is on hardwood and makes a lot of noise. I try not to let him have it too long down there because it blends in with the floor, and I'm afraid it will get stepped on and broken.
I would be so stressed out by this… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve trod on (and destroyed) one of those balls. Our cat wasn’t keen on them, she preferred my ankles and anything I’d knitted!
I've stepped on several, but they have all been Orbs of Sadness, so no real loss. That is why I put it up as soon as he is done with it.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks ahh, it’s a fitting end to an Orb of Sadness!
I enjoy the split screen. I love Todd but it's been quite a while since we've seen Paulie.
Paulie is bonded to my wife like Tidd and Glamour are to me. He hangs out a lot downstairs with her, but I will try to get him in some upcoming videos. ☺️
Best thing about cats is they never let you forget
FACTS LMAO
Yes, he will tell me what he wants to play later in the day. If I don't offer it later, he goes to the board hits his previous request, then hits NOW. Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣 so true
My cat has her Little Yellow Ball that she loves above everything else. Nothing else will do 😂
Like children, they have that special toy you can't replace.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks they are very much like a toddler mixed with a teenager XD
@@captainhoratiobungleiii7147 exactly!
I had a cat who looked just like Todd. He had a lot of personality too, always slept under the covers. Always. 😸
Todd comes under the covers and lays his head on my pillow just under my chin with his back up against me. It's wonderful.
Todd reminds me of my Tuxedo Joey in so many ways.
Joey's fur is a bit shorter, but they look very similar from the back.
Does Todd like the string toy? (Piece of string tied onto a stick). Our cats go bananas for it. But they do try to eat it 😂
Yes, when there is the feather at the end of it. It's his bird toy.
and i thought the cats who own me were weird because of the 25 to 1 ratio of orbs of sadness to joyful jingle.
So your cat does this too? Have you figured out what makes a Jingle Ball?
I wonder why he will only play with one out of the dozens he's got. Is it a different colour to all the others perhaps?
It is the only one that is blue and red. It also may sound a little more pleasing to him. I know some of 6 you throw it, he stops as soon as he hears it before he can even see the colors.
Something about the way Todd looks down at his buttons... the fur spiking up on the back of his neck... it just melts me.
❤☺️
I know and he looks so serious at times.
Thank you DAD!!! For allowing all of us into your home and daily life with Todd!! You are showing and proving to many that our cats and dogs are not mindless animals, but ,like humans ,TRULY ARE THINKING and WANT to say things!!!!
You are most welcome
my cat only plays with the red ones but she has 2 bags full of them
That's awesome, I wish I could find more that are acceptable to Todd.
Why? Why are there Spheres of Sadness, Round Objects of Rejection, Orbs of Repudiation?
😂 Jingle Ball scientists have been trying to figure that out for years. Lol.
“Orbs of Repudiation” sounds like a title in a fantasy trilogy!
😂@@JMA864
Poor Todd, what's a cat to do when you just can't get decent help anymore these days. I think you need to up your game or Todd may never play Jingle Ball with you again.

There is some connection with the red/blue color of the one he likes. He could be color blind!
Maybe, I know cats see colors differently as it is. It also maybe the bell has a sound he likes.
Do you think he was trying to show you what it is to Wait?
Yes, very possibly

Hi! Todd is so adorable! I have just stumbled upon a few of your videos and I am wondering, 1. Was it difficult teaching him to communicate via the word-bubbles? And 2. Does Glamour use the same means of communication as Todd when she wants or needs something? Thank you for your posting. Im an avid, life-long adorer of the feline species, and I have enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you so much!
I'm glad you are here. Every cat is different just as people, and the length of time it takes depends on several factors such as the willingness of the cat to learn, the amount of time spent teaching, method use in teaching, etc. Todd is a very unique and special kitty. He started using his buttons about 10 minutes after I showed them to him (see first video on channel Todd's First Button Push). Glamour and Paulie do not use the buttons, I have offered and continue to offer it to them, but they are not interested.
My cats have always favored red balls to play with and fetch. They have put red balls in their food and leave them on my pullow when i am not home. I have read that most cats favor blue. Could this be why Todd favors the blue and red jingle ball?
It could be
What are the colors on the specific one he likes? I buy packages of them often & wouldn't mind keeping the ones he likes aside to mail him. Also, one of the pet stores in my area sales them individually & you can puck out the colors. In a near video, if you'd show it a little closer up, it'd really help to see which one it is!

Where did you get Todd?
All three of our kitties are from a local shelter adopted over several years.
Shouldn't that be "THE" Jingle Ball? (Hope you can find a "JB2," before Todd gets his Jingle Ball, Singular 'stored a-way,' where you can't Lay Hands on it. {I've been telling folks "14,' because 40 "Orbs of Sadness" would sound 'A Bit Much' to 'the general Public,' who aren't Aware that Todd's Dad has been Totally Bewitched.})

Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry you did not care for the video. Todd being able to communicate has not changed any of his behaviors or his communicating with his body language and meows. This just him the ability to say more. Before the buttons, I knew when Todd wanted to play but not with what toy, I knew when he wanted affection, but not he preferred xuddles, pets, belly rubs, or kisses.
