Is seem that in Asia, when you want to give a dessert a compliment, you say it's "not too sweet". 😊 I keep hearing it in video's, not only yours.

Not really. There are some Asian cultures with really sweet desserts!

One thing l love about your videos is that you are always so calm, so relaxed. Never in a rush and always take you time to talk about each place and food item. Thank you for the great work!

I have been enjoying your walks and when Satoshi mentioned the cake recipe was from Meiji Era. I thought oh..pound cake recipes used to be known for having 1 lb sugar, flour and eggs each. And then you said it tasted like pound cake! How cute!

The city architecture includes some of my favorite styles - Art Nouveau and Art Deco and Arts & Crafts. This was a delightful walk.

I love ice cream during wintertime. Even more than in summer. Unfortunately, most of the Italian gelaterias are closed during winter here in Germany. We usually don't have soft serve here because it is usually low quality rubbish. I would love to try Japanese soft serve - it must be very good considering the price...

We managed to visit Hakodate mid November 2019; just before the pandemic. The history of this city was what attracted me. Apparently the first concrete street light pole (in Japan) is just around the corner which we did find; overjoyed!

Oh, I treasure these off-the-beaten path videos in which you take us to interesting, charming areas that tourists would seldom see. Thank you so much for making them.
The architecture in Motomachi is beautiful and varied. One can definitely see the Western/European influence. So many churches. So much color. I absolutely loved the thoughtful bottles of sand which were provided to be sprinkled on the snow for personal safely. Only in Japan! And, yes, it has snowed in San Francisco, but very infrequently. I was there in 1976 when it snowed, which may have been the last time there was any accumulation.
Much love and many hugs to you both. ❤️❤️

I miss Hakodate so much. The building at @18:00 was where I used to teach English on the side. Thanks for sharing Shinnichi! You got my nostalgia running wild. :) Hope you guys enjoyed the town. When I lived there I was disappointed that I was in a small port town while my other friends were in newer cities like Tokyo or Osaka but the older architecture and small town feel of Hakodate grew on me. It's romantic in a way.

Hokadate : simply gorgeous little town . You can see the European influences from the churches ⛪ to the residential homes. Loved the little shops, Café and restaurants as you walked further up the hill so convenient. This was a joy to watch those cake stores were to die for . Thanks so much for the most scenic walk . 💚🐢

Shinichi, I am so happy that you love architecture, so do I! You stop and take a good long look at the most beautiful and interesting buildings so we can really see them. It's as if we are there with you. Thank you so much! (Now, get a cap to keep your head warm :) And you two are never boring!)

I just loved that little antique store tucked away, so cute!! It sure looked cold, but what a pretty walk. The churches were lovely, and the modern looking one was amazing. Would love to see the Russian Orthodox church after they renovate it. I hope you tucked a few pieces of that cake in your pocket, lol.

I love unusual buildings&churches&orthodox churches with painted murals can be stunning

We are enjoying your vlog on Hakodate. It is nostalgic. The last time in Hakodate,, one of the baristas at Starbuck’s invited me to return around Christmas to see the big lit Christmas tree: She said it is beautiful and the city lit nicely. Unfortunately, the pandemic has made it impossible: BTW,, you are right that it doesn’t snow here in San Francisco.

Happy 2022 to you, Shinichi and Satoshi. Just an interesting side note, at 6:23, that Curry Of Death sticker at the Curry shop window, that is a version of the 'Pizza Of Death' Records logo which is a record label run by popular Japanese Punk band 'Hi-Standard' out of Tokyo. I would love one of those stickers!!! I was hoping to visit Hokkaido for my 40th birthday this July, but unfortunately I don't think that is going to happen now 😥 Thank you for the video.

i really love watching your vids and they serve as a welcome journey for many of us who miss japan so much, and look forward to visiting again. thank you so much for these. you bring a refreshing balance to your videos of japan - the excitement and curiosity of a non-local and the facility of being japanese who can explain the things you see or cover. it's the same feeling i have when i visit japanese cities where i just love to walk and explore every nook and cranny. kudos and more power.
