- That actor Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon in the show, originally auditioned for another part in the popular zombie-apocalypse series? Norman Reedus’ performance as Daryl Dixon was a fan favorite during The Walking Dead’s 11 seasons on the air. Daryl is so beloved by fans that a spin-off series featuring the character has already been mooted. Reedus, however, did not audition for the role of Daryl and instead auditioned for the role of Daryl’s on-screen brother Merle. Producers on the show did not think Reedus was a good fit for the role of Merle but liked the actor’s audition so much that they created the role of Daryl just for him.

This has happened with a few other cool characters like Gus fring wasn’t meant to be a character in breaking bad and Giancarlo was just meant to be the guy who owns los pollos hermanos but he played his character with such mystique that fans wanted to know what his character would become so they wrote him in as this great crime boss
Same with vaas I’m far cry 3 the actor played such a good role in the audition that they created an entirely new character around him

He's an excellent actor. I'm so proud of him. In September, he got his own star in Hollywood for those who didn't know. Definitely deserves the recognition he gets. Also fun fact, Jon Bernthal was by his side the whole time while he was being honored. An actor who got written off in Season 2 of The Walking Dead and is still there for support after all of those years. That's a real friend right there. Huge respect to him as well

Makes more sense now as to why Hoyt is seemingly a background baddie who comes out of nowhere. Giving Michael Mando more screen time was not a bad decision for them at all.

Reminds me of Michael Mando, the voice actor and model for Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry3. Vaas never existed until Michael Mando auditioned for the game, so they made Vaas based off of his audition.
