Yes I was able to staple ti the tack strip that I cut thinner to fit. Just like around the door, there were small netal tabs that held the tack strip in. The garnish tfim around the windshield snugged the headliner up tight too. A head gun helped get the small wrinkles out. Goid luck on it.....i put this off for years and wish I hadn't. Wasnt so bad.

Thanks for making this video, looks great what you have done. Just a little FYI you can also use some Fan Belts if different sizes. I used some in my 55 Chevy Station Wagon along with what you have there. I also used a Hot Glue Gun which really did a nice job on holding in the corners..

You don’t put the tack strip above the front doors as the the head liner retainers hold the headliner in place Thst isn’t the correct location for it

I meant how did you attach it to metal of the roof? Looks like it was installed with staples from the factory. I was thinking of using 3m double sided tape intended for fastening emblems to exterior. My windshield is still in the car, so I think rivets or screws are out of the question.

How did you install the tack strip at the windshield?

I used a razor knife and cut the tack strip thinner so it would fit. Kind of a pain to do.

Hi mike, thanks for the video. I'm doing the same in a '47 Cadillac & I cant find a replacement for the tack strips. You say you're using yours from a kit . Where did you get it ? It looks like ABS strips? Thanks for the help. Bob

@@crazymikesvids5901 Thanks. How'd it come out? Do your staples hold? I saw a video that a guy used v'd fan belts too. I have some ABS sheets that i want to make door panels with and i haven't tested its ability to hold staples. Thanks again for the video & info. Take care, Bob

@@bobrich5913 I'm happy how it turned out. It took the staples really well. The v- belt sounds like a good idea. Waited for years for a headliner, and glad I tackled it myself. It went smooth. Let me know what you do...ty

Go to a auto upholstery supplier online location near you. They will supply you with almost any G M or popular tack strip for about 50%less than any store.its usually a good idea to bring a sample you need.they have head liner fabrics and other items you need cause that's where auto upholstery shops get there supply 😉
