@@joshuapickett1234 tbf, JK probably has the biggest adjustment when it comes to buying into the Warriors' system, at least on offense. Everyone else on the roster that plays the same wing position as him is either a more established shooter (Hield, Melton, Moody, and Wiggins) or a playmaking forward (Green, Anderson). JK is neither one of these, he's a relentless rim attacker/slasher who on occasion can hit a 3 but not consistently. I'm pretty sure the thought process with him was that he'd give the Warriors a different way of scoring outside of just 3s and be a guy who can draw fouls on a team that was and has been last in the league in free throw attempts. There's also the fact that he typically is in the game with a lineup of Curry, Wiggins, Green, and Jackson-Davis, where yes there's Steph but everyone else is a mid to non-shooter, so JK has less room to be aggressive towards the rim with the defense sagging off more. Another thing is also yeah his little scoring stretch last year was nice but defenses figured him out within 2 months and he basically fell off a cliff in the last month. He’s not built for the big games yet but it’s still early in the season. He also struggles to play within the flow of the offense even tho he could easily thrive as a cutter. He’s got all the physical tools to thrive here but like you also mentioned he lacks motor and has yet to realize he’s still got a lot to prove
I've followed Kuminga since he was in HS at The Patrick School and he was overrated. It was clear he had a lot to learn to be an elite player. Is he good? Yes. Is he elite? Not yet but could be. As for now, the warriors are doing the right thing so they dont get pulled in right away into a big contract with a non-franchise player
First, you can clearly see that Steve Kerr has some issues with some players, starting with the fact he left Brown out of the Olympics. Second, Kuminga is a guy that right now "plays for the highlights ". If he doesn't improve his defense and his shooting (outside the paint), as well as his shooting confidence, as the time passes and age goes by, he will fade away imo.

Sure Kuminga has amazing athleticism, but that is about it, i am not sure how anybody sees superstar potential here at all. He can not shoot or handle the Ball and is not even impressive on defense, on top of that his effort and especially BBIQ is very questionable. He absolutely does not deserve anything close to a max deal, pretty sure he will get traded this season.
Andy, are you a warriors fan? Because if you’re not this video is very confusing to me. How the hell does Kuminga have superstar potential? Sorry I just can’t see that. Also I feel like your description of him as unique is a stretch. Other than being weirdly efficient in the paint for his size I would not consider him unique at all.
His athleticism is off the charts. He effort and basketball IQ are what’s lacking, both of which can be improved. Will he though? At this point it looks like that’s a no.
Warriors now have buddy hield and if Wiggins mojo came back, they don't need Kuminga. I'd rather trade him. Maybe they'll get decent role players +2-3 first round picks.
More like a role player or 2-3 second round picks. He takes a MIPY kind of leap and earns the max-contract he has been asking, or keeps on being not good enough to break into starting 5 and gets traded away pennies for dollar before the deadline.
I have this guy on my fantasy team and he’s probably the worst player I’ve ever drafted in my 10 years of fantasy where I had high hopes, franchise is toast
i know there was high hopes he could be like lebron or something but he's been a dissapointment he's wont be a leader for the team once curry and draymond are gone
Was optimistic he could make the leap coming into the new season. But, I don't think he's got it. Doesn't seem like he processes the game fast & well enough to be a #2 option. Not as good defensively as you think he could ve either. Warriors may have more success going splash 2.0 with Heild, some matchups.
Kuminga is not a bust he already joined the nba at 19 years old we all know that he had ups and downs in his first 3 years of his career its just that steve kerr doesnt give him more opportunity and kuminga was misused so bad on the warriors similar to john collins' situation. They already surrounded with shooters and slashing players the main issue is that what's gonna be his new role? Because TJD kevon looney are getting better defensively draymond green and podz are getting more better, moody has a chance to be in the starting lineup and hield already has his role as a sharpshooter. Whats gonna be for Kuminga? If the warriors refuses to sign him they might look to trade kuminga at the trade deadline since kuminga complained that he wanted more touches.
I don't there is any realistic scenario on the Dubs or any other team where JK gets the sort of max money his agent seems to be demanding. I say his agent because in interviews he always downplays his own opinion on contract talks etc and instead refers to leaving all that up to his agent. But the new CBA while not actually lowering the number of max deals in black and white has I think already brought about a lot of hesitancy amongst teams in handing out big contracts. Teams absolutely don't want to go over the 2nd apron or even pay much tax at all if they aren't damn sure they can be a serious playoff team at the least. JK is still a deeply flawed player and in a vacuum is most definitely not a max player. But it's also true that the development of young players has not been a priority for the team or for Kerr ever since he's been in the job. He jumped into a win now at all costs position and the team is very much still clinging to that past success so long as Steph is around and seems like a top 10 player. The actual contract could just end up being down to negotiation. The Dubs reportedly started discussion at $120-150 Mil and were turned down. They may in fact be willing to go higher but wanted to save face and have JK's camp be the one to be seen to be holding things up. JK and his camp may in fact be willing to settle for less pending what offers they get on the open market. But the team this year and Kerr's opening line up certainly have a smell about them that says the team wants to limit the amount they will need to rely on JK. That starting 5 is not one designed to put JK in the best possible position while also being able to say he's a starter and they are giving him plenty of opportunity. A trade at the deadline depending on who if anyone shakes free would not shock me in the slightest.
Warriors HAVE to trade Kuminga before they overpay him so they don’t have another Jordan Poole scenario. And at least Poole helped them win another championship with his great games in the playoffs, specifically in earlier rounds.
you've made some very good points on JK. i also have observed that JK has a very low IQ especially in defense, and loses interest most of the time if he doesnt get the ball. i used tolike JK a lot in his first 3 yrs and was thinking that JK is the future of Warriors, but now i am inclined to think that he may not be it. furthermore, JK thinks so highly of himself and thinks his game deserves the rookie max contract. his game against the Utah Jazz shows how deatched he is sometimes. now i think JK will be out of the Warriors, and it can be as early as before the trade deadline.
kuminga wanting a big contract like his draft class then he should play better like the others warrios offered him 30 million which is fair in free agency only a dumb team will offer more
-- MPJ got $30M/year. It's the magical number for guys who could be good but no guarantee. MPJ in the playoffs is worth $20M. Kuminga seems to be in that realm too. I want players to get paid but at the same time, I want teams to do well. Ying n Yang.
I've been saying it since last season, Kuminga has the same lazy mentality just like Wiseman had. Wiseman refused to do the little things (set screens/rebound) all he wanted to do was score.
Wouldn’t he be screwing things up? He’s not rebounding or playing defense well enough. That’s why he didn’t get the extension he wanted. It’s not the warriors fault that he isn’t playing to his potential. If he wants that max extension he’s gonna need to play way better than he currently is.
Kuminga is weird player Like you said that he choose to have 100 or not is too predicted, and opponent take that advance quetly verry easy. He have strength to be great defender but choose to lack of focus. GSW defense system is focus on team defense, if 5 them focus even average defense player became good in golden state, but if one player get no focus GSW became the easy team to score at every possession. So if kuminga liability is Ego even he have great potential this wont work if the team still have Curry, because the GSW offens start by Curry. Kuminga really try to get a fight spot with GOAT shooter who already have great resume and still in his prime. Maybe he can throw to some team who still waiting for franchise player, like jazz we get mark or 2 unprotected pick. If he dont want to be a team player, better kick him when his value still high.
Kuminga is on an ego trip.. He's blatantly NOT passing the ball to WIDE ASS OPEN people for layups and 3s to hunt his own shot.... Kids got the wrong people in his ear.. Putting the cart before the horse.. And dont get me started on his shit defense which hasnt improved AT ALL since his rookie year.. STILL getting beat on back cuts.. STILL losing his man in offball actions..... For the people who wonder why he doesnt play more.. it's his team defense.. he misses rotations.. gets caught ball watching.. and the maddening part it's this has been the issue since day 1 lmao...
Kuminga is not a superstar and never will be. The only reason he’s even talked about is because he’s on the warriors. If he were on any other team he’d be exposed for not being that good. Look at Jordan Poole. Once Poole left he was exposed for being a not being that good as well as a terrible teammate.
If Kuminga wants anything close to a max, he is getting traded. I wouldn't even pay Kuminga more than Moody. Moody is a keeper! Kuminga is by far the worst fit on the Warriors' motion-offense. The ball always seem to stick to him. He commits dumb turnovers (3 in the FIRST HALF against Portland in the first game), forces up some dumb shots, is questionable on zone defense, his rebounding/box-out sucks (especially for his size and insane athleticism), and he STILL bricks wide-open 3's, even though he said he had worked on his jumper all summer long. Teams dare Kuminga to shoot the 3 and he takes the bait every time! He is ARGUABLY the worst 3-point shooter on the Warriors who is not a center. He's not a 3. He can't shoot, his passing is very basic, and his basketball IQ is too low. He's not a 4. He's too small, can't rebound/box-out, and will get absolutely BODIED by guys like Aaron Gordon or Paolo Banchero. His natural position is a 2, but his jumper sucks. With that said, Kuminga has insane athleticism. He has potential to be a very good 1-on-1 lock-down defender. He has shown flashes of it. If he improves his jumper, his natural position should be a 2. That's a big "IF" though because his jumper has not improved AT ALL since he joined the Warriors three years ago. Great dunker though...

come trade deadline, he'll be traded for sure. Im a Warriors fan btw.
Low key this is going to become Andy Wiggins team once Steph retires.
I don't know why but it feels like this will age like that utah jazz video from 1-2 years ago
Improve his brain first before anything else
Not a good shooter, passer/playmaker, defender, or rebounder. Realistically his ceiling is good role player. The warriors’ future looks bleak
we all know he is in some way affected by the contract extension
Apparently, Kaminga is more focused on getting that big contract than helping the Warriors win a championship

Let’s go warriors!!!
None of these Warriors young talent is a Star/Superstar material. They're super role player at best.
He better off at PF. I dont think his shooting good enough to play wing
You should mention Buddy Hield no shootouts to this man, changed non-motivated Klay.
Kuminga doesn't deserve $30M per season. He's only a role player.
I have this guy on my fantasy team and he’s probably the worst player I’ve ever drafted in my 10 years of fantasy where I had high hopes, franchise is toast
Hes not the guy. Period!
i know there was high hopes he could be like lebron or something but he's been a dissapointment he's wont be a leader for the team once curry and draymond are gone
Maybe he needs to be in the starting line up. Curry, Hield, Kuminga, Green, & Trayce.
They should trade him and pick for a good second star alongside Steph. In the playoffs they will need a second option.
With blow outs its hard for Kuminga to get that rhythm
Dunker + 1 injury = ego and role player issues
We've seen this before, one injury would sap the bunnies and its over
Well said.
Kuminga is what if Zion would Get Super FIt
He's off to a very slow start, but it's only 2 games. Hope he turns it around soon.
When he finally goes bald, he's gonna become a top 20 player, with potential to climb even higher lol
i've given up on kuminga, it's been what 4 years and were still expected to believe in him to improve no thanks
can’t wait to see him play 30+ minutes
who
@@JP-pp2tn weak ahh ragebait
No it don't. Strength in Numbers. Depends on us all
It would be funny if they let him go because all those trade rumors they think highly of him to the point he's untouchable
If they would have drafted melo number 2 their future would be a lot more simpler 😅
Really grateful that my magic didn't pick him in the 2021 draft
He is thobias harris type of player
Could be a trade piece depending on how well the warriors
Kerr held Kuminga back 😭
Dude,what u gon do w all that money 😭😂
Let him walk Warriors. Once he gets the bag, he will turn as the next Harrison Barnes.
Kuminga and the Warriors both dodged some bullets with the Warriors offering JK $150m and his camp rejected it. LMAO
kuminga has been a disappointment sadly probably be traded at deadline
you've made some very good points on JK. i also have observed that JK has a very low IQ especially in defense, and loses interest most of the time if he doesnt get the ball.
i used tolike JK a lot in his first 3 yrs and was thinking that JK is the future of Warriors, but now i am inclined to think that he may not be it. furthermore, JK thinks so highly of himself and thinks his game deserves the rookie max contract. his game against the Utah Jazz shows how deatched he is sometimes.
now i think JK will be out of the Warriors, and it can be as early as before the trade deadline.
Here after he got benched.
He just got relegated to the bench yesterday they dont even start him anymore lmao
kuminga wanting a big contract like his draft class then he should play better like the others warrios offered him 30 million which is fair in free agency only a dumb team will offer more
The Kum Bucket
The Spurs will make him a star alongside with wemby and an aging CP3
Hoope Reports.. is that you?😂
There was never really a point in Games where it screams Kuminga won them the game, it was always he done well and thats it.
Jonathan Kuminga want to bet on himself i hope he gets the contract hes deaerves. Hope warriors dojt screw it up in the long run.
Wouldn’t he be screwing things up? He’s not rebounding or playing defense well enough. That’s why he didn’t get the extension he wanted. It’s not the warriors fault that he isn’t playing to his potential. If he wants that max extension he’s gonna need to play way better than he currently is.
Pumping out content just for the sake of it.
He just not that good...idkw people keep trying ro make hime something he is not...i would put way more stock in Moody he fits the system better
For 200M
Just trade Kuminga for Jarret Allen or Mobley.
the kumbucket
Legit thought the warriors got so desperate they signed will smith's son.
Kuminga is weird player
Like you said that he choose to have 100 or not is too predicted, and opponent take that advance quetly verry easy.
Brandin Podziemski: am I joke to you?
This dude is like Talen Horton Tucker, people over hype him and a couple years when hes traded and be a nobody
Hield been balling
I would move him for a some that fits and has a better basketball iq
0:10 seeman ;)
I see problem
Am I the only one that thinks Kuminga is overrated? He's basically just Kyle Kuzma.
I'll just say G League Ignit set back the development and expectations of a lot of talent. I'll leave it there.
Right, the said future of the warriors is about to get traded. Ironic isn't it?😅
Kuminga is not a superstar and never will be. The only reason he’s even talked about is because he’s on the warriors. If he were on any other team he’d be exposed for not being that good. Look at Jordan Poole. Once Poole left he was exposed for being a not being that good as well as a terrible teammate.
Hes worth around 21 million a year
he’s a Net
Only 6'8" 🤨
If Kuminga wants anything close to a max, he is getting traded.
I think JK can become A face of a franchise not THE face. He could develop into a great no2 imo
