Never feel guilty about remembering why you two got together in the first place. Having children as much as you love every moment we tend to get caught up in the grind and forget about our significant other. 37 years together and we always find time to remember why we are together.

As a mom that hasn't had a break in almost 4 years, I agree 1 million percent that it's a very good thing to be able to take a break. My husband works all day every day. I have no family around that offers to come and spend time with our children. Time away definitely would benefit our marriage and it absolutely would help our moral on life. It's so hard being home with the kids.
I love your videos. You two are real and I love that.

YES! Your philosophy on just the two of you getting away is a good thing. My husband and I both worked 9-5 jobs, and once in awhile felt we needed time for just the two of us. We would leave my son with his grandparents. My son is now 36 years old, and he remained extremely close to his grandma and grandpa until they passed away. He still brings up the fun times he had with them. So it's a win, win, win. You're leaving the kids in very loving hands, so you can get away and refresh your marriage with peace of mind. Believe me, the grandparents win, too. Just be aware that some day you'll be the ones left at home with the grandchildren. It's a blessing for us grandparents.

Apologies in advance for this very long message but,I just have to say that I really love watching your entire family, both of your family's!! (Derrick and Tanners family) You guys are not only outstanding parents, but are so loving and active with the kids, and educating them also in a fun way,all at the same time!! Just all such essentially important things for children's mental growth!! I honestly really wish I saw more younger parents bringing their kids up this way, And your so very patient from what I see!! (Even tho I know we're all human and have our "moments" at times) Plus the fun comedic spin you put on handling and approaching situations is fantastic!!! ,👏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻👌🏻 I just love that your all so positive and happy (obviously everyone has their bad days, but your just a joy to watch!) That's why you have amazing well adjusted little ones!! And very happy, healthy, loving, and most importantly COMMUNICATION, RESPECT and COMPATIBLY in your relationships!! (Imo!😉👌🏻) I just love the way you go about things, and who you are! Which is really great to see these days with all the junk on the internet currently. So I hope you had an amazing, relaxing, decompressing mini vacation!!👍🏻👌🏻👋🏻🙌🏻 🚢🌊🕶️🩴🩳😎🌞👙🤿🎣 🩱🥽🐚🐬🦦🦭🦈🐳🐟🐠🐡🦐🦞🦀🦗🐙🦪🦂🐚👏🏻🙌🏻 It's been a crazy busy year for you guys and you very much deserve this break!! It's a healthy thing to do for yourselves and the relationship as a while. And I think that it's absolutely fine and normal and healthy to be away from the kids for a few days, their in a safe, loving environment. So with that said, I'm totally glad you decided to do this for yourselves and I hope you had the time of your lives!! And I'm sure when u got back it was super great to see the kids as you both missed them, as they missed you both!❤🥰 Which again,is so healthy for them to experience, just like mama Sarah said!! 👌🏻👍🏻😉 Shes an awesome mama, and your a awesome dado!! Keep up the amazing content! And wishing you both only great prosperous things in life!!! And a new happy fresh start with the new big move!! Congratulations!! 🎉🙌🏻 👋🏻❤❤️

It is A MUST, in my opinion, y'all need to have a quality couple, and connection time, untethered by the day-to-day responsibilities that distract and interrupt y'alls quality time. It is so healthy for the long haul, bc Jack and Sunny need two well-functioning parents who are on the same page, engaged, happy, and examples of teamwork. It not only is great for them to see, but it also gives them independence on their own to grow and have a maturity in navigating that, they will one day have to be from you in some sense, and they will have cultivated the security they'll need. Also, it deepens their relationship with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and extension and the deeper shared relationship as siblings with their own shared memories. It's a win all around in my book. ❤hope y'all had a great time. 😊

Aloha, i am #9 of 10 kids and my memories of my childhood were my parents going bowling Friday nights, they had friends whom eould come over and play cards and yahtzee and they took trips to the cabin 2x a year and they would go on an annual get away..without us kids. They took us camping and on trips too… the point is they showed us to lead a happy marraige they needed go give themselves “me time or rather couple time”. We were not rich, but we lived joyful lives. Then, they moved 2 of us to Hawaii and we lived a much more simple life and they sorta didn’t do that as much and while they stayed married… i think they had a period of challenges. Thats when i was in high school and I missed our lifestyle we had in Colorado. But overall it still was great, we were just poor financially… but still rich in joy. So, i personally think that what you are doing is healthy and you have a great support system and lots of love to nurture your lives. Don’t listen to the negative as you guys give your keiki so much love and more attention than most! Keep loving, dancing, singing, doing adventures… its the best you can give to each other and your children. Aloha pumehana🌺

My 3.5 y/o daughter spends a full week at my in-laws’ house (5 hours away) every 3-4 months and it is such a wonderful thing for everyone. While it’s nice for my husband and me to have a break, my daughter loves it, too. It’s like vacation for her. And my in-laws love it! It’s a win-win-win for everybody. I always miss her when she’s gone, which makes the reunions that much sweeter. ❤

Not only does it remind the two of you why you fell in love, it also reminds you of how much you really miss your babies, and helps you to deal with the really hard days with the kids. Have fun and definitely do t feel guilty.

Absolutely a great idea.Time for you but also so important for your children to have that relationship with their grandparents. It also builds resilience in children to have that short separation. I mean, one day they will be going off to school and Mum and Dad won't be with them then. You are such awesome parents.

I wish I had someone willing to watch my kids so we could have some couple time, but we don't so we just take them and try to find some time just for us, like the kids will be in the pool and we are sitting watching and just having some time, or when the kids sleep we slip onto the balcony and watch a movie on our phone etc... just little moments here and there. I think its good to take both time alone as a couple and time as a family and as individuals especially since you guys are a young family.

I know this echo chamber is going to cut me to shreds so if you really don't want people who love and support you to be honest just say and I will shut up.
It really went thru me when I saw this video because when Jack was just a couple months old you went on a cruise, then a few weeks later you went on a ten day vaca together to see friends then you each went on separate bestie vacations to see friends. All within 5 months after Jack was born.
I am not going to tell you how to live. I enjoy your videos so much, but frankly, I almost unsubscribed but when i saw others unsubbing I didn't feel right doing it so I gave myself a couple days.
You need to realize when people just give you opinions and you call them "haters" they won't do it again.
If you want us to only leave flowery insincere responses then just say.
I usually say nothing. But I went back almost 14 months and started counting your trips (I know a little much but I am an aspie and if I get something in my head I must follow thru)
    After I counted 7 in 9 months I stopped.
    Why?
I just don't need to know. And on Twitter my followers look forward to my 2 minute blurbs on you called " the angels who jumped to earth"
So that's all I have to say

Hey guys I was just watching your shorts because they are so darn cute! I came aross the short when Derik didn't want to put Jack to bed and Sara found them both in the crib. Jack makes the cutest little noise kind of a squeaky sound. What makes it neat is in the video when Sara was out Derik was holding Sunny and she made the same little squeaky noise and Derik said it was the most pitiful sound he ever heard.😊 The two babies sounded identical!!

I'm not trying to be mean but I've been married 3 years and have had no honeymoon or vacation all 3 years. I feel it's due for a family vacation to lego land this year. That being said, i personally can't imagine leaving my kids as much as they have even when it was just Jack for a vacation every few months. That seems excessive to me. Maybe it's a white people thing, idk, like i said not tryna be mean. It's not like it's business, it's a getaway. I get weekends dates where grandparents take them for a night or 2.

Taking a break for yourselves is not bad at all. My parents regularly took a week in winter and one in summer when we were younger and when we were teens, they went for two weeks at a time. It helped us accept that time away from them so there were never breakdowns when we went to summer camp or Girl Scouts. But time away from y'all? I can see why Jack & Sunny may cry. Life as your child is fun! God bless you! Love & Light to you
