Who told you that indian railway's connectivity is poor .. due to overpopulation is seems poor . By this point this small bus train will also worst. Because of overpopulation metro in delhi enlarges itself upto 8 .
To experience the poor connectivity of Indian railways you need to come to the North East, then you will come to know about what is called poor connectivity.

Nothing new to us as we in India too had rail busses upto the 40's and 50's. As my Dad was posted in the Railways i saw such rail busses operate between Bezwada (now Vijaywada) and Coconada (now Kakinada), Repalle etc. and in few more locations in Andhra Pradesh.
That's true..rail bus used to run between kakinada and kotipalli too until recently. Post covid it's not running

Visit Merta Road in Rajasthan. You will find the Rail bus there. Single Unit rail bus. It is the size of a Bus with around 40-50 seats and you can see the driver driving and changing gears.
