When I raise my end dump trailer all the way up while dumping if I'm not quick on pressing the clutch, my truck will shut off. Do you think it's the pto itself or my transmission or clutch?

So say you flip your switch without the clutch to check for the grind but you don’t hear a grind. Does that mean it’s not engaging? And if it’s not, how do you fix that?
If loaded incorrectly at a Materials Site. How do you balance your load? I've seen others lift their bed partial with gate on. This allowed gravity to shift load back but I tried it with my bed and when I released the bed downward, it flew down and slammed on the frame? How do I trouble shoot this? Other's I've seen drop down the bed slowly. Can you share your experience please.

Might be late for a reply, but it costs around $500, depending on how you plumb it into your air system. You can keep the PTO you have but have to swap out the plate that the cable goes into now for one that is air controlled. It's an easy swap.
My PTO switch will not hold dump in hold position it drops instead of holding? I have to keep moving back & forth to gradually dump? Replaced switch & had piston rebuilt?
I've never had problems just because of cold weather, but it doesn't get really cold here, maybe 10* or 0*F. Could be water frozen in the air lines. Maybe run some air line anti freeze. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head.
I do have a problem with my dump truck mack automatic allison transmission when lam lifting the body loading it stop and won’t go any more just when it is load it ?
How much does a pump for this type of PTO cost? I just bought a dump truck about 2 months ago and the trailer won’t go up all the way when loaded. Unloaded it will but very slow and only if you press the gas pedal.
Yes, pushing the clutch will stop and maintain the height. Putting the pto stick in in neutral will stop and maintain the height as well. Pushing the clutch in and put the trans in gear and releasing the clutch to creep forward (without putting the pto stick in neutral) the bed will continue to raise while moving forward.. This is how dump trucks spead gravel. This is not recommended for dump trailer, just Tandem dumps.
