Merry x-mas Ross, This is my 4th year in figs (2023) but I have 20yrs in Bonsai, your videos are improved but I watch old ones all the time. Your info and data shave years off having to do it myself. The thing that makes your videos easy to sit through the entire thing (even the long rambling one) is your nice Radio voice. I bought one of your Holliers cuttings pack this year, so thank you. keep on keeping on.

I see from your video the Little Ruby is green & red inside when ripe. My friend bought one and its not those colours . its black on the outside and light inside till it drys on the tree and then its red inside. Its a small tree with tons of fruit and when dried it the size of a grape. Could this be Chicago Hardy instead?

Hey Ross, thank you for your content. I’m here in wet PNW Washington 8b and I’ve watched your video that you did on my climate, did you ever get out the part 2? Looking for early ripening and short hang time recommendations. I have some in pots and ground, but ideally want to put them all in ground but want to add the right ones to mine. Already have DK,Celeste,Vbrown, white Kadota,Olympian,ChicagoH, and looking to add from these Smith,VDB,I258,yellow long neck, LSU tiger and Azores dark. Any recommendations? Thanks for your time

      I never did a part 2!
What you want is early main crop varieties or good breba producers. Pruning should be kept to a minimum and the trees need as much sunlight and heat as possible. A short hang time is critical. Being able to produce in low light conditions may also be of concern. See my blog for short hang time varieties. Most of them ripen early enough for your location.

@@RossRaddi Yes, I was checking out your blog and spreadsheet. There’s not too many on the short hang time list that I can find available. Also, is your 2nd earlier ripening list a very early list or just a 2nd list? I have a screenshot of your spreadsheet from the video I mentioned and you had a early and very early ripening list column.
Right now I’m thinking from what my source has Azores dark, LSU tiger, VDB and Smith. All early ripening and Violette de Bourdeaux good breba.

I'm loving this! Your website is beautiful and super easy to navigate. Love the behind the scenes on improving video quality. Just started building out my TH-cam channel about 3 months ago. I've been doing videos on my other platforms forever, but I'm always looking to improve my video quality. I've been wanting to grow persimmons and figs here in Southeast Michigan so I'm hoping to gain some insight on how to do that. Thanks for the great content! PS ~ look into the camera and not at the monitor 😃😃

For someone who grows so many figs, it seems weird how you think most are eh.

In my climate, most are, yeah. Especially when they're rotting on the tree.
