- PopularMMOs AKA Patrick Brown is a long time TH-camr who popped hard in the early 2010s, only to gradually lose viewers over time. This video will take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, beginning in 2012, so we can answer the question - How did PopularMMOs go from getting 250 million views per month between 2015 - 2018 to 50 million views per month in recent times?

Watching the early stages of Pat's career just brought a smile to my face, just for me to remember his inevitable fate. This guy was literally my childhood, I feel terrible for the fate of the channel.

It's actually heartbreaking to see that his first marriage didn't work out, his second girlfriend turned out to be just a drama fest, he got arrested (I've heard twice), and now if you look both he and Jen haven't posted a video on either of their channels in almost a year. This might be the biggest abandoned channel I've ever seen.

I know I am very late to comment but who else almost cried when watching this. They were a huge part of my childhood and many others as well. So sad to see how their life changed so fast.

For some reason Jen's voice and energy is a lot differnt she isn't as talkitive as she was before so I do believe that it has changed Jen alot that's why I don't watch them as much

You gotta give it to him, the man is STILL playing Minecraft. Most people from his era have already moved on long ago, but he still sticks to the same game that literally made his career. I hope to be able to play one of his modpacks with my girlfriend so we can replicate that experience.

PopularMMOs was essentially my childhood. I would come home every day to watch his videos. I still remember binge watching his Epic Proportions series and I remember the exact video in which I caught up with the series. It really is sad to see what's happened to the channel over the past couple years. I suppose all good things really do need to come to an end. I'm glad I got the enjoy the channel in its prime. I'll always have those memories.

@@aperson.a I loved Ssundee so much. I loved his old content and how he basically made catchphrases and recurring jokes for himself. Now he just cranks out among us kids content.

@@Sterling-cn1fq I honestly agree wholeheartedly. I was a huge ssundee fan especially when he made cops and robbers, skyfactory (1-3), pokemon series, and trollcraft. I miss when he did content with crainer, the constant jokes Abt pen and paper, wheelchair, and especially derp ssunde. Now that all he gives out is among us content with different mods every day with nothing new I can't even bring myself to watch him without cringing heavily and reminiscing about how great he used to be.

It’s not just that their channel ended that is sad… it’s that it ended it tragedy! Stampy just kinda drifted peacefully away while Pat’s channel came crashing down in a burning fire. After he broke up with Jen it just wasn’t the same and everything fell apart after he got his new girlfriend. Poor dude I hope him and Jen are doing alright wherever they are today.
Unfortunately pat got arrested for abuse charges to a new girlfriend, but Jen is happily married and I think had a kid on the way!

I remember watching them since 2013, it was amazing, they got a little less motivated once they broke up, then Pat brought Ellie, (Elaine?) idk her name, don’t watch the videos with her, she just doesn’t have the same spark as Jen. But it’s not the same. Something just seems missing. When that break up video came out, I remembered so many things, the video where he introduced Jen, when they got married, all the amazing times they had together, just flooded through my mind. I actually started crying. 😔 I miss the good old days.

it broke my heart when this popped up on my fyp because i was there growing up and saw this entire process happen, every video update, and seeing this summary makes it really hard not to cry because it’s so difficult to rewatch my childhood videos now :(( i’m really happy for jen’s life now, but i hope pat’s life looks up eventually,,

I will always remember the days I spent watching his Minecraft mod videos, especially the mob battles and lucky block challenges. This man was a good chunk of my childhood and I will forever be disheartened at how his channel, and he as a person, turned out.

I just really really really hope he knows that he was part of all of our lives so many of us. And I’m so grateful for him being part of my life.

Honestly so sad, I watched him every single day for years on my tv downstairs in the living room with my brother, younger and older sister. We’d watch his old modded Minecraft survival series with Jen, and also his arena fights or mod showcases. It was awesome I remember watching them building the treehouses and also the classic Jen house, with the heart and the trees.

I remember watching the channel as a kid. Then remembering it years later and having a look to see what changed and the first video was their divorce. Absolutely floored me

Late to all this but these videos give me a strange nostalgia for an era I never really was a part of. Computer time was something earned in 5 minute increments at my parent's discretion so I rarely spent time on TH-cam when my limited time (could be as little as 15 mins a week if I was acting up) could be spent playing a game online. All the same, I feel for those who did get to enjoy the heyday of all these creators who helped build their childhoods. It's unfortunate how fast that period came and went for all of us.

I don't think I would've comeback since I outgrew them but that doesn't mean they won't always be apart of my childhood for a straight 5yrs in my life before unsubscribing since I started to feel less excited from watching Pat closely lose a Hunger Games match, got bored from watching them play Challenge Games and mode showcases, and then they stopped doing Epic Proportions which imo was probably their best series and there was also the long hiatus for the Crafting Dead which dissappointed me greatly cause I also really loved that series. That still doesn't stop me from being thankful for them being a big part of my childhood

I remember watching these with my cousins when we were younger. They were obsessed with Jen and Pat, and we bonded together in the time we spent watching. I haven’t thought about them in so long, and I’m so sad to see everything that has gone down and declined. These two are so nostalgic to me, and it hurts to see that special old part of my life fading. Seriously, I still have an old message from one of my cousins talking about a parkour video by Popular MMOs. I wish them all the happiness and prosperity they deserve, and I’m thankful for the memories they brought me and my cousins.
It rips me apart seeing this channel end, I feel like I would still watch it if they were still together, they broke up over something quite trivial, it makes me feel a lot of emotion and I see many memories with this channel. He went from just trying to promote his channel to carrying the weight of fame, we always knew he was strong but nothing ever prepared him for what he would go through. I love these two and it was sad to see them go and I wish we could have seen more. We can always go back and watch old videos but knowing what we know about them now it would never be the same thinking about how they are no longer together and will never make videos together again…

I think I watched every Lucky block challenge when they were released after school when I was supposed to be sleeping. Now I look at his channel for nostalgia and he doesn't post anymore, sad times :(

I think I have come back to this video the most out of any of SunnyV2's video's, its just so well made and PopularMMO's was thee thing from my childhood that I would always just love. Pat and Jen's break up was the saddest thing to learn about from my childhood creators, same goes for SkyDoesMinecraft. Its heart breaking but I hope that they will one day find what makes them all happy.

I think it's crazy, what's happened to the channel. I remember watching it when I was a kid with my siblings, all of us hooked onto the content that was being produced; it was fun and engaging. Pat and Jen were some of the many Minecraft creators that raised us, along with Stampylongnose, TheDiamondMinecart, SSundee, etc. I, actually, had only found out about the separation in early 2020, through a friend, who I guess was still updated.
Only in late 2021 had I actually searched for the video, and I guess it wasn't so much the divorce that left me at a loss, but more so the mood of it; the discomfort and the distance between them throughout the entirety of the video. I think they both knew how drastic the hit the channel took would be, just judging from the anxiety that was so clear and yet so hidden as they spoke on the matter. I suppose I had been away from it for a while by that point, and the awkwardness was such a big change from what I remember.
In 2022, when I heard about the first arrest and allegations against Pat and Liz it left me baffled, and I just had to go back and check. The time that stood between uploads was shocking to me, not to mention the titles of said uploads, and I guess that was when I knew that the youtuber that practically raised me and so many others was taking a turn for the worse. I didn't doubt the allegations being false when they were ruled untrue, however, time really does change people and Pat, though he may mean well, really is spiraling into something that I would rather not involve myself with. I heard about the second arrest that took place May 3, on May 22. I couldn't find any further information on the matter outside of smaller creators that were covering the subject.
My final take on the matter is that, I think he started something great, something genius, and rough and fun, but some good things only last so long. Sometimes all it takes is one single wrong step where you slip and the moment is over. I think that's what happened to him, he had something good going, but he wasn't the whole. There was no way this channel would make it out of this with only minor injuries. Pat and Jen were PopularMMO's. It started as a partial piece with Pat, and then later was made whole with Jen. They both made the channel home for so many, plain and simple.
If Pat was to recover from this, I feel it would be a better option to begin something new. PopularMMO's already had a face, and attempting to turn something that's already been made into something else would be near impossible. He needs something new to build off of, a clean slate, something to call his own again. 17 million subscribers, made up of multiple different generations of people aren't going to want to shift if Pat remains under the same name and overshadow of what once was.
I still check on him every now and then, worrying for what is to happen to him should he continue trying to pursue something that's already been given a name and face. He should stop trying to be Pat and Jen, and instead move onto a new chapter of his life that doesn't "need" Jen to be successful.

I had liked him as a pre teen, one time teacher wanted me to make a poem about someone i had idolized, i choose him, when i went to print his picture, the kid who used the printer knew the TH-camr and asked me, "you watch him ??" I said yes, now i can't even imagine his divorce

The big thing for me was while most every other minecraft youtuber would collab and merge so it looked like they were one happy community poppularmmos was always Pat and Jen. I aged out of them, having been part of the early crowd that went on to games like destiny. When I recently came back to watch them it was no surprise that things went downhill. Every famous person from my childhood has gone downhill with the exception of CaptainSparkles. The thing that kills me though is that Pat was clearly very happy to do youtube and he did it with someone he truly cared about. I think by the time they made the divorce public things had been sorted out and they were happy to be friends but the gf conflict caused problems.

I’m concerned for Pat, he does so much and after what’s happening to him he still has a smile, but it doesn’t seem like the smile we remember
I remember the smile he used to have that said to the audience “I’m happy because I love what I have and I love making you guys happy” that smile was when he was with Jen. I’m sure that same smile will come back, but who knows when it will? I’m still supporting him after the Eleni controversy that just started on Instagram and stuff, but this makes me even more concerned for Pat.

And to this day, he still makes videos and tries to connect with his audience, giving them the best performances he can give. He's honestly a really great guy who built my childhood, I can't help but feel so bad for him after all of this

Although I'm prob late, I would like to say that Jen and pat were my childhood. It pains me to see them gone. I remember being subbed to this channel for such a long time but when I realized that Jen was gone, I cried. I just felt so... heart broken that my child hood heros were falling part, gone (sorry it kinda sounds like I'm talking about them dying-)

Imma be honest, popularmmos was why I started exercising and playing sports, and made a cringy YT channel (I'm sure most of us had that one). Pat seemed to have so much joy in his life and it made me happy a happy 9 year old. Good times, screw highschool.
It's also kinda funny he's a huge buff guy who likes cats.

I keep on watching this and I don’t know why it just breaks me to see my favourite content creator go into a downhill spiral. I’m 13 now and Pat and Jen have been a huge part of my childhood for so long now. I actually stopped watching him and a few years later decided to see how things were going with them and when I saw this I almost cried. Things change a lot over time.
It makes me sad seeing the old videos of his when they were still together. Also watching this now after watching your newest video makes me even more sad since he almost never recovered

Oh dude I loved this guy! I was never into minecraft or gaming of any sorts but my brother was and like any younger sibling man I wanted to be just like him and one of the ways I’d try to do that was watch popularmmos for that way we’d actually have something to talk about. I’ve never been close with my brother but we at least got to bond over him and I’m rlly grateful for that :)
I used to purposefully avoid videos where Jen wasn’t in it so when they broke up I disappeared all together. They were such a good duo but now I’ve heard pat has done so much shit and it breaks my heart. It makes me so sad to see creators that shaped me as a child either become problematic or get burnt out and disappear..
I do remember checking up on Jen tho and she’s in love and doing fine (from when I last checked that it)

I watched Popularmmos for a really long time, and it was definitely sad when stuff started crashing and burning... the thing I didn't like the most was when Pat and Jen broke up and Pat started playing with someone new like every other video in a desperate attempt to find someone new, then just posting drama explanation videos. Needless to say, a part of my soul died a little bit when I hit the unsubscibe button on a channel I had loyally followed for 5+ years and spent my childhood enjoying 😔

This is... truly devastating. Their entire channel was everything to me as a kid. It’s not just that they played a role in my life or our lives, it’s that we the viewers are also important. I could feel that when Pat was talking in his recent videos, he was sad, stressed and other things like that. He’s in a deep time of need and we should be there to help him. Especially being in a time like this with a virus going around. It’s hard to believe that Pat and Jen are getting a divorce, after all these years. Those two were the people that created an even more fun life for his viewers. Most of us have grown out of his kind of content, but I feel it would be nice to kind of take a trip down memory lane, or just be there to provide emotional support in some way.

If he brought back some abandoned series like mob battles and epic proportions it could sky rocket again, although the last time he did a epic proportions like series was playing modded minecraft upside down, and it simply means people wouldn't find it as fun so the 1st episode of it got over 1 million views but the second one only got over half of episode's 1 views and not enough likes to continue the series, I see mob battles skyrocketing their channel again though and if they do a proper epic proportions that could skyrocket too.
Honestly, when I was younger and first heard the news, I hadn’t thought much of it. But now that I’m older, it did really hit me that my childhood may have been falling apart before I knew it. I miss them sm.
How sad, two people have a mutual break up and remain friends and the guy moves on and gets death threats and so does his new girlfriend. How sick. I never grew up on popularmmos (was never in the popularmmos/stampylonghead camp for Minecraft. Was more into Jerome/captainsparklez/ssundee stuff.) but as someone on the outside looking in I understand why the audience would be sad, confused and upset.

While they don't deserve hate over simply wanting better personal lives, they do deserve criticism for stuff like putting "Ex-Wife Jen" in the title, not realizing how weird that is and how much of a sore spot it can be, then proceeding to act like its the community's fault entirely.
I understand people feelings though. When I heard Pat was dating someone else after their break up. I was uneasy. I guess I was not ready for them to move on and find someone else since I was little bit sad over their divorce. Though understand they have their lives and can make their own choices. I want them to be happy. Not the viewers.

To be honest, he probably doesn’t need the money from his channel as is. He could probably live out his life with the money he has but I feel really bad for him with the things that have been going on. This guy shaped me as a kid and he shouldn’t be getting hate for trying to move on. I want the best for Pat and I hope that he comes out happy and not like some other people who have hurt themselves because of a toxic online community.
I’m sure he’s made plenty from TH-cam and probably still makes decent money, but if the divorce was messy or there were issues with the division of assets (since Jen definitely has a right to some of that theorized six million dollars in TH-cam money), he might be worse off than we think. It might even be a big part of his growing stress and worsening mental state, unfortunately :(
