Green hit master using the inexorable crawl method. I bet he only plays fixed and wins the majority of his games. You asked how to win in a 3 person evenly matched game and that's how. Instead of using all your troops to break all you can and take as much board as possible, you build stacks that are too big to be worth hitting and build walls. I thought you saw that when you mentioned doing it, but you instead built "friendly stacks." If you had instead popped black's 19 in Italy and fortified everything off your Scotland cap to that Italy territory you would have both kept Black off Italy and built a wall he couldn't cross between your stack and the blue pseudo blizzard. Green would have done the same thing in the East coming off Orient to break and hold SE Europe. Then you just sit and take a card each turn by moving your stack forward a step until you have a fist big enough to grab territory to the next choke. If you watch Greens game, that's exactly what he did. When black punched through his lines he only had to pull back a very little to shore up the hole, then rather than punch a bunch of black and leave his lines weak he just patiently waited to rebuild while he did the slow, inexorable march across N. Africa. Green definitely has holes in their technical skills and negotiation, but in Fixed there are not many strategies that can beat the slow march of doom, if you have the patience for it.
Decent point. One addition/note: Green would have lost if Black wasn't such a scumbag... A better execution of the "Slow March" strategy (than Green's) would incorporate _taking low-cost opportunities to pop enemy continents._ In nearly all of the instances you mentioned (when Black hit Green and Green just "plugged the hole") Green could've meaningfully reduced Black's generation for the next turn simply by hitting 3-4 territories that each had only 1 defending troop, *then fortified back to "plug the hole."* Doing that (hitting C. Europe, Germany, and Italy) after Black popped Russia _would've cost
Black is the worst type of player in Risk, not trustworthy at all and making multiple enemies at the same time, then wants to alliance when he's at risk of dying😂
I have to add something to my earlier comment where I said getting to master is easy. It is easy when you apply pete's strategy and tactics. Even on a phone.
I personally play the boring game when this happens I just sit on 1 or 2 bonuses and let the idiots hit each other If someone is gonna betray you in a stupid way, they are also gonna betray other players in a stupid way.
Yeah that seems the way to play. Basically there are two types. The bully, and the greedy bully. The greedy bully will leave you alone because there is someone bigger to fight.
I had a game similar to this a couple months ago. It was EU adv fixed caps and a three-player endgame like this. I think it went on for over two hours (maybe even three), and every few minutes, when the balance of power shifted too much, one of the other two players would betray me or each other, alliances would be broken, and when they started losing, they would try to ally again. I was 100% willing to go first and second with either one and get to a two-player endgame, but they just kept dragging it on and on.
I got to master rank after playing caps for 3-4 weeks, 2-3 games pr day. On my phone, move slow like this guy. So no surprise that he was a master. Getting to master is easy.
Why does manualling matter in true random? Is it just so you can decide to stop attacking if you get bad dice to minimise loss ot are there other reasons?
Exactly as you said. It's so you can calibrate your troop losses on an ongoing basis and reassess if you suddenly get really bad dice or whatever. Assuming infinite time of course
But pete early you broke every black bonus except italy, then you broke everything except germany and one of the yugo +4s. I don't think you ever left black with no bonuses and often with 2 or 3... were those mistakes (you moved very fast) or something else.
What an infuriating game !!! At least you got 2nd ! GG for playing it through, I rarely quit my games, but I don't think I would have had the patience to see this one through like you did ! Or perhaps only out of spite x) I have a question please if you don't mind : Would the game have gone better if at 1:01:30 you chose to only break Green on the North Africa bonus rather than all of his bonuses ? Because even how incompetent he was, he was a better ally than Black who you already swore to always hit no matter what happened. I think Green did the break on you at 1:01:00 because he was scared you gained more troups per turn than him and because of clumsiness. What do you think please ? Would that have perhaps continued the alliance with Green and perhaps allowed to kill Black ?
If you notice greens interior guard stacks throughout the game his play was that of expert or master. He was just slow as Christmas and possibly pretending to be worse than he was. Ggs
Greens gotten master by sitting there and doing nothing until he's too big to lose! Absolutely hilarious to see someone so bad at the game have a ranking whatsoever hahaha
Wow these players were complete and utter rats 😂 good job not actually tearing your hair out in this one Pete! As always amazing content and lots of love from England!
I don't know that black was a bad player. Seems to me he identified Purple as the best player and reasoned that if Purple hit about 1.5X the next closest player army stack he would snowball and run away with it. I can't stand seeing an early snowball greeder just cruise to victory while the rest of us players gaze at our navels and protect our one home bonus. It makes the rest of the board seem like a bunch of incompetent noobs. As for me I would act like the black player rather than watch an aggressive early greedy player who doesn't leave troops on his caps run away with it in a 25 minute game, even if I was "allowed to take 2nd." I was actually impressed with the honor of breaking the alliance before betraying, because I personally would never bother "breaking an alliance" on a no fog game. I would just let my actions on the board speak for themselves.
I will say when you showed the top players in the ranking project that I lost a lot of respect for Qlwl when I played against him in tournament and he disconnected because he got a bad spawn and we refired the lobby just for him. And he wound up winning with a much better spawn. Just left a bad taste in my mouth for tournament play
@@FreePete I think everyone just gave him the benefit of the doubt since he’s a grandmaster. He said something along the lines of he forgot to ready up but we didn’t start the game with any bots so I wasn’t fully convinced. I made a post about it in the kps discord and people talked about it for a bit but my tournament was pretty much sunk after that.
Dude. I think you got beat by a twelve year old playing on his dad's account. There is no way that shit play would ever get you to master. The only way he won was because black was too concerned with betraying you and let green get too strong.
This is how most of my games have been going recently. 1 constant betrayer and 2 players that are so inept that it seems like collaboration
Just remember that half the population has below average iq and that is 100% of the population you are playing with

The Spanish guys were practicing on you for Kyle, Kyler’s 😂
This was one of my favorites. It looked like prison gang politics, where everyone is a homie but then the backstabbing is endless
SMG needs to put a "🖕" emoji in the game. 😅
Black is the worst type of player in Risk, not trustworthy at all and making multiple enemies at the same time, then wants to alliance when he's at risk of dying😂
42:12 is like from a mafia movie. Loved it

1:34:51 this is a great design, still having to eliminate the neutral bot. Because...because...wft were they thinking when they made this?

51:00 54:27 this episode is a gold mine
There's stages in this game and it's crazy too see. Arms race that turned into a cold war. That lasted a few turns
The way the lights suddenly turned on for green on that play after black quit. So hard to watch
LOL that twist at the end
I got to master rank after playing caps for 3-4 weeks, 2-3 games pr day. On my phone, move slow like this guy. So no surprise that he was a master. Getting to master is easy.
54:47 to watch the world burn 😂
That’s the only logical answer at this point.
This is a fairly niche reference but green reminds me of fatslob. The slow inexorable tedium of someone happy to do the exact same thing every game.
LOL, "You don't do that to me again"

1:31:03 out of context sounds crazy 😂😂
If green always plays like this then he will win quite a few boards, Risks little and never goes fully aggro on anyone.
Greens gotten master by sitting there and doing nothing until he's too big to lose! Absolutely hilarious to see someone so bad at the game have a ranking whatsoever hahaha
Famous last words 😂❤😂❤
Red..Beach boi bot out 😊😊
Wow these players were complete and utter rats 😂 good job not actually tearing your hair out in this one Pete! As always amazing content and lots of love from England!
Hey man, can't win em all right?
Green is slimy too😮
Green is the true master 😂

At 26:30 I thought that was a bit odd you opened his cap. Why not just take Orient and Africa.
When you couldn't add 6+7 I felt that so hard. Like this is easy, why isn't working?
The real victory was seeing your nemesis flag.
If green is a master, then I am the president of the United States.
Black might have been his feeder account despite the behaviour?
23:10
Yellow troups

That's crazy
How was a restart allowed?

If I had a nickel for every betrayal …😡
More proof the ranking system is flawed. GG's.
could green be collabbing with magenta?
When players are bad it actually works against you lol
This was painful to watch. I cant imagine being the one playing against these players
never play with two or more european players with the same flag or for some reason turkey players. They always collab.
Yeah probably not collaboration
Why are all Spanish players like this?

I've got to master rank on my phone somehow 😂
Touch controls are awful 😢
I move pretty quick considering how awkward it is to tap the phone screen.
But I would love it on PC 😅
I was gm with animations on before I switched to pc
FIXED CAPS LFG
I’ll try to be a spoiler blocker.
Thank you for your service!😂
TH-cam needs a bot to pin these
playing with beginners made this content boring Pete
