- Today we find out which which factory turbo sled has lightest weight bragging rights! We know the matryx chassis added weight from the axys chassis and the turbo set up will add more. The skidoo summit has a very weight feel when riding it with its mounters turbo power, but which one is actually lighter ready to ride and by how much? Today we find out.
I feel like the 2.7" track with the belt drive will be the most popular sled to get with the 165 length, so I feel like it's still a pretty fair comparison
Yea, from what I see my friends order and what dealers are bringing in, I think the polaris 2.75 and doo 3” are the most popular tracks in utah.
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing. Note the the Doo chassis is 6 seasons old. Plus I see trade offs between weight and durability. Let's see what Doo offers in few days. They have been there king of innovation 💡.
That is true, but the Maytrx isn’t exactly a new chassis, only a new tunnel and plastics. Same front/rear suspension and bulkhead as the axys and it weighs more than the axys. I doubt you’ll see much new from doo for 2023, it’ll be hard to improve on what they have. Would love to see something totally new from brp though

I saw that you had “both” spare belts in the holder, on my ‘22 turbo Slash there isnt enough clearance to the hood to pack quick drive belt along with the drive.
In the polaris manual it recommends changing the quick drive belt at 2000 miles. Honestly I have never seen or heard of a quick drive belt failure on an axys. I’m sure there are some. I don’t have a spare for my matryx either. With the very low failure rate, I’ll probably just keep a spare in my trailer.

Either my scale is way off or... I weighed my 2022 khaos boost electric start 2.75. I have a light weight battery from cv customs. Mine came in at 553
I just weighed my full E-start kit I pulled off a sled, no battery and with the clutch starter ring. It’s about 13lbs, add your 2ish lb battery to that and we are at 15lbs more you have for your E-start. So in comparison to my no E-start sled, that puts you at 538lbs without the whole E-start kit. Pretty close to my weight, either of our scales could be off that much. Best is to weigh both sleds side by side with same scale like I did in the video for a first hand comparison

40 years of riding, and don't give 💩💩about brand. I chose what works best for me. Started riding in 80's on yamaha, switched to cat when the M series came out, then went to polaris and the pro, now the axys. I've ridden all the generations of Ski-doo since the Rev, and just couldn't get comfortable on them, especially the xp's. I will say the G4 was the closest to feeling like the polaris, but still not there. The angles steering post, and ridiculous weight transfer, lifting the skis, and trenching, just never worked for me in the trees. That's also why I chose the regular RMK over the khaos, and I'm over 200lbs, so I stick with the 163-5 sleds.
Good video. Not that it matters but gasoline is closer to 6lbs per gallon. You are probably thinking of water which is about 8. Hence the reason water ends up at the bottom of the tank.
30 lbs less AND the doo has 3 gal Smaller gas tank and Smaller oil tank. Doo is probably another 25 lbs heavier if you add the same amount of oil and gas. So, that doo is actually about 50+ lbs heavier than the Matryx.
It has been said OVER & OVER, that the ONLY way to ACCURATELY weigh sleds for comparison is to do it DRY. It is really not that complicated :) Only the guys with the heavy sleds want to weigh them "wet", (and have small gas and oil tanks) so they don't feel so bad for paying big money for such a heavy sled - - - haha!!
Amazing the Polaris is 36lbs lighter holding that much more fuel!
Whats a Short Track Polaris weigh??
Depends what you consider a short track. Most mountain riders consider the 155 and 146 short tracks
Worried more about durability than weight.
Durability, only time will tell for the polaris turbo. Doo turbo seems to be doing quite well.
Buddy had a skidoo turbo last year that snapped a drive shaft, had to have it air lifted out. Seems like Doo and Polaris are putting out a quality product. It’s really a crap toss if you get a bad one.
Yea, my buddies 22’ doo turbo with like 40 miles on it went down yesterday 15 minutes into their ride and had to be towed out. Dropped off at dealer. They think it’s something electrical
Then don't buy a Doo. Muskoka Freerider had his 22' Freeride seize with under 200km's on it. Thank God he still had his Boost ripping to keep him riding!
@@mountainsleddergarage8627 on the other hand my buddy had his patriot 850 cease with the PTO issue. Every brand has gremlin sleds. Knock on wood I haven’t had any issues.
Never weight then wet for a comparison.... one can have a couple gallons more tank... which is 8 pounds per gallon
Remember polaris uses Adhesive bonding just a fancy word for glue!
And if you knew anything about it, you would know this is of no concern.
I’m pretty sure they stopped using the “bonded” parts many years ago

Polaris still adhesive bonds some parts. The only time they’ve ever had a problem that I know of was on 2013 on the bonded A-arms.
If you put electric start on the Polaris they would be closer
There are a lot of “what ifs” you could add or subtract to each sled to try and compare orange to orange.
Then add the electric start to the doo.
People seem to forget shot isn't a full electric start and is still 15lb lighter than true electric start.
If you took the extra 15lbs of gas out of the Polaris they would be even farther apart.
Skidoo won't ever win the weight war without a serious redesign.

You are right. My brain somehow thought a 1.5 gal more fuel got Polaris to get 12. It’s actually 2.5gal more (9 vs 11.5 gal). So it’s close to 20lbs extra fuel for Polaris
Actually for a correction, fuel is 6lbs per gallon, water is 8lbs. The doo holds 9.5 gal of fuel and maytrx holds 9 gallons
