I have a steel Bowie knife my dad was making before he died. I finally got an edge on it and now, thanks to you, I'm putting his sword emblem and my initials on it. A really great way to keep him with me. Thanks! :-)
That's awesome!
I'm sorry but great idea I sad for you if I had magic to bring him background life I would..!😢😢😢😢.....😌😢😢😢
I'm very sorry Nina..😢
Why you guys are so sad for his dad ? We all die and how do we know if we feel better on the other side or not ! ? besides according to some witnesses over there is even better than this life with all limitations we have .Be happy for the people that going after rest of their lives . this is very very natural .Yaaaaaa

People are sad because nina unfortunately lost a parent, one of the biggest losses in anyones life. Natural or not, it's hard.
For even more detail, use a scratch awl or a hand engraver tool onto dry polish. To get a better take on the letters, use gun blue to get the colour, then polish the top without getting into the etch, and you have a nicer finish than pen, plus it will last and will not vanish when you oil the blade:). Just a couple of tips! Cheers! Vicki.
Just a heads up, I decided to try using salt + water since some other videos suggested that it worked better than vinegar. I couldn't get the water/salt solution to work no matter what I tried. I switched to vinegar + salt and it worked like a charm.
Thanks again for the video.

poboyspecial its cheaper to use salt and a 9 volt instead of a battery charger and vinegar

Great video Bro, gonna be having a go at this & cane to your vid through research, glad I watched now thanks
Thanks Nick, a great idea and well described. I can use this on a lot of things. Jim
Thanks for this great tutorial. If you want detail, you can use press-n-peel (or some people use photo paper) to iron your design on the blade (as I do with PCB's). Just print out your negative and mirrored design on that, iron it on the blade for a while at low heat, then peel off to see the protective material stuck on the blade, and use the same etching method. You could probably etch a painting on a blade this way.
Cool lesson. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing.
I actually might try this. It looks really straightforward.
Neat.
Hi, thank you for making this video. One question: Where did you get your knife blank? I really like that shape.
Nice tip. Thanks for showing.
great video low cost method and to the point
Awesome, finally how to do this with real tools you have around the house. I just need to do a one time engraving in a ring, and don't have the money to buy an Etchomatic or other type personalizer that uses the same method. I already use this same method with a battery charger and baking solution to rip the rust right off of metals, and it works great.
Nice idea. Very simple too. Thanks.
