- This How To gives an general overview of the installation sequence. Always triple check that all fasteners are tight before taking a test drive. Though this is a Syncro shift shaft the sequence and parts for 2WD are very similar. 2WD Vans do not have a granny gear. PS The rear bushing was purposely left un-greased to help hold the shifter position and was greased afterwards with a needle adapter on a grease gun.

One of the best adjustment explanations -- to what is often a frustrating job -- I have seen. Nice job!
Thanks!! Glad it helped!
Colossal video. Thank You! I was just talking my brother through an adjustment on his '85. He is going to get a lot of information out of this. If you find yourself in Traverse City, I will buy you beers; if you are in Gainesville, he will buy you beers.
Cool!

Always refer to your Bentley shop manual. Start and keep the transmission in neutral -N-.
Could you explain what you did with the Woden block in the gear housing? Did you leave it there/why did you put a block there?
Hi Mike, sorry for the delayed reply. The block of wood is the space the Manual wants to see between the guide and the shift tabs.
what is granny gear
Granny gear is a low ratio gear for off roading, found on the Syncro Vanagon
