I guess I was just thinking of ways to facilitate high school age people and possibly their teachers with access to resources that encourage first principals thinking. Just found "out" about Daniel Schmachtenberger the other day via Nate Hagens videos and I have now watched three long conversations with Daniel and I am gobsmacked to say the least with the clarity Daniel explains the human predicament - the understanding of history - and why we are here today - but also how it would be possible to solve it the problems we are facing - it is also nice to listen to as it is politically neutral there are no biases but more explanations on why we humans operate the way we are and how social media has made it worse - highly recommended to watch and highly educating
The end of the discussion prompted my fallback position. Live below your means, reduce debt if you have it, and never actively seek it. The word used today is minimalism. It frees your mind to contemplate far beyond self.

He presents every problem as a false dilemma, in which there are only two choices, and his delivery is peppered with smart-sounding buzzwords, but he's not actually saying anything profound, nor providing any effective solutions to the problems he says are problems. Once you hear Daniel's logic, the cogency and clarity of his arguments, it's obvious that he's correct and that we need to pivot immediately in The Schmachtenberger direction. My impression on Daniel is similar to the way people described Von Neumann, in that he seems to be on the upper limit of human intelligence and that I sense he’s far smarter than I can even conceive.
Came to a similar conclusion as Daniel a while a go. He obviously got there first but its a relief to hear I'm not the only one thinking on these terms. Especially the three paths he sees as a risk. He's far deeper of a thinker and actually I think this is a limiting factor. It's too high brow and intangible for most. One thing I would ask is address tangable problems, one mentioned is high speed trains/infrastructure. Or even several tangible points in short clips because no one I forward this on to will watch an hour video.

Personal? Theravada Buddhism. Don't have babies. Read relevant (not always "recent") non-fiction. Walk and exercise gently. Live cooperatively by a (minimally sufficient) set of written rules held in common. Eat mostly (not exclusively) vegetarian with any fish/foul protein you need. No "supplements." Reserve talking for teaching, learning and emergencies.

I can empathize, but in the USA there are help wanted signs all over the place and no people to take them. At least in my community you could easily get two or 3 jobs if you wanted, from industrial to service. Ex: My son's teacher worked a second job as a real estate agent. I worked 2-3 jobs most of my 20s and 30s. In my 50s one job is good enough. Peace and good luck.

I respect Daniel very much as a good human being but what he says is very much a US angle, a sort of US centric tunnel vision of those who haven’t lived in other countries around the world. There is so much more going on. There are other perceptions of reality that are unlike those who spend time pontificating in California. What about the impact of intolerant religions. For many people, laws are a flimsy invented impediment and not worth looking at seriously, as if the law and freedom and justice and social values we take as hard won, are a joke. Has he read Douglas Murray’s “the strange death of Europe” in which he explains this process and how western governments act in exactly the opposite direction of democracy. It would be helpful to spell out the meaning of democracy.
American culture usual spreads to other parts of the world, I don't know why, but that's what happens. If the movement to greater understanding starts there, it might have a better shot at reaching the world than if it started in Europe or Asia.

Thanks for posting this. I am always impressed with the scope and depth of Smachtenberger's knowledge and his ability to speak, but I always walk away from his talks with the same feeling that he could have said everything he did in about 1/10 the amount of words. And, most important of all, he has no concrete or practical solution to propose. I compare this situation to a person who is drowning while his family members are debating about whether or not death by drowning is inevitable.
