Hello dear liseners, sorry for my bad english! I had a vacacion as diakon in Sweden, on the autumn of 2001. One evening i heard from my hotelbalcony, in the north of Gran Canaria, a beautiful tone I'we never heard before. And in some "folkmusictune" I heard a sound like something "between a guitarr and a mandoline"! This night 2022-10 21, I found a small paper whith was I thought was the name of the instrument "banduria" (a classic spanish instrument!?) I searched on Google and found this nice music. Please give me some response, I am now a retard healthy and fresh man 75 years old, who (know after the corona) maybe want to return to Gran Canaria in hope to hear this beautiful tune again./Patrik J
Definitely, if you want to hear more of this instrument, you should come to Spain. In university cities, there is still a traditional student association that plays the instrument. I'm from Madrid and I'm part of one (there are quite a few in Madrid), and I play the bandurria for the group. If you happen to visit, you are more than welcome to let us play for you for a while! :D Either way, I hope you can hear this beautiful instrument again.
@@rondallafacil2366 that's interesting that they differ. So we have two other, the octavina and the laud. These two are like the alto bandurias and usually in a rondalla these intruments are played together with a guitar and a double bass.
@@irisramonida2505 this is the same for us, we also use laúd and nylon stringed guitars. In some parts of Spain the octavilla is still used and really popular. It is amazing how, despite more than 120 years and thousand of miles we still share some cultural similarities. 😍

Aha, so banduria is also spanish origin then. :D I've been playing it as a child and never knew. I'm from the PH.
I wonder how they tune their banduria in Spain, it seems a semi higher. For us in PH it's F# - B - E - A - D - G.
The spanish bandurria tunning is (from 6th to 1st) g#-c#-f#-b-e-a
