I want that bus! It sounds so sweet, I miss these Flxs! My bf let me drive his. I drove for NJT for 20 years but my coach was MCI only. Would love to buy a Flx now that I'm retired!
@@zacharythomason7359The bus that we currently have in service that would resemble that bus is the Nabi 45 Compo Bus, I really thought it was a futuristic looking Flxible New Look when I first saw it.
I loved riding on this bus when I was small threw DC.It was and still is one of my favorite Buses of all the Flixible's.Wish I could ride on it one more time or even see it in person.
I drove one brand new in Coralville Iowa. What a sweet ride. I miss all those sounds. The relief valve, rattles, transmission, engine, doors, brakes, even the individual wipers. Ours were very reliable and very new and worked well with the snow and ice of Iowa but without air, it was a warm summer in the bus with nothing but fan or two.
Our historical club has a 35' New Look in its collection so I'll find out if I can finance its restoration. Needs a trans and/our an engine. BTW I am able to like your recording now and did.
I was glad to have grown up in the timeline when these buses were pretty much nearly dominating the streets of DC along with the GM Fishbowls in the 1980's, I particularly liked it when the Passenger Window rattling issues were addressed to the best of their ability on these buses when some of them got rebuilt again in the early 1990's in comparison to how they started out .
I believe until 1999 because on my second trip there on September 1998 most of them were gone only very few of them left and the last of the GMC Newlooks retired from revenue service on 2001 those were between 35 to 39 years old.
Oh thanks yea i just notice that the ratings were disable is fixed now as for the recording well I recorded this bus while it was still in active service back on February of 1998 sadly around September of 1998 was the last time i saw a Flxible Newlook in person. I only wish i would have had a video camera back then.
I can't take this no more. I mean that in a good way. Take me back to the 90s!!!!

I rode these jonts on the X2, 52, 42, 46, H8, H4, & 96 lines when I was little.
I rode that joint on the 42 line & I probably rode them on one of the S lines as well I wish Wmata would bring these buses back.

Thanks Mark and the audio tape is still in good shape after all these years.

It won't let me LIKE it. I saved it to my favorites, the sound is so good and clean. Where did you get this bus?

Wow, sounds like the GMC RTS
Actually the later model GMC New Look buses from 1978-1986 sound like RTS Buses.
It sounds more like a Grumman 870 bus .
Awesome I liked the sounds of these Flxible New Looks. How long were they in service?
1977 to 1998
They sound the Grumman 870 bus models from 1977 through 1981.
Weren't the CTA 1984 flyers powered like this too?
Same family of engines but I believe those were 6V92s.
Same here I used to ride it win I was little threw dc too.
Its was on the b2 bus in dc when i was 9 years old back in the day in 1995
@@christopherwilliams2797 I did not know that I wish I had some photos of these old Dc buses
DC Metro buses
The bus sounds like a garbage truck
