At the end of the day, Isiah and Mark were his boys. I think having five of em made losing out on a sixth A LOT easier to handle, especially if it meant guys you loved as brothers were winning.
89 pistons avoided Larry bird due to injury and magic played 75 minutes due to Injury in a 4 game series only playing 3 games 25 a night... and Kareem was 40 in his 20th season and about to retire.. This title wasn't that impressive...not to mention mj had no help...pippen and Horace were young and avg under 10 a night...mis 2ns best scorer avg 12 and was Craig Hodges lol...the bench sucked...
Pistons repeated and almost 3 peated...magic knew they were better cause of the 7 game series they played prior ..it was their time....you don't sweep la magic Kareem worthy scott unless your better
Wow this really brings back childhood memories. I was 10-year-old when the Pistons won their first NBA title and I was crazy about the Bad Boys. What makes Detroit's back-to-back titles in 89/90 so special is that was the golden era of the NBA; truly the league's best years (80's-90's).
Say what you want about the Lakers, they had class. They congratulated Doc in 83 when he finally got his, congratulated Isiah here, congratulated MJ in 91. First class organization with first class people.
The vast majority of that decade, it was either Larry Bird and the Celtics or Magic Johnson and the Lakers. Detroit ended both of their reigns and put Chicago's reign on hold.
I really do miss the NBA on CBS...i'm showing my age. I watched many games from the 1977 playoffs to the end(1990 NBA finals). From the age of 9 to 22, i watched these games live and in tape delay(i'm really showing my age). The down period of the NBA(before Bird and Magic) and the resurgence in the 80's. The NBA became so popular in the Bird, Magic, and the very young Jordan era that when i was in the US Navy from 1986-89, some of the countries would show NBA games in real time. When i was deployed in the Pacific, the Philippines used to show games live(2-4AM local time). Or if we were at sea, we would see a few tape delayed games. I grew up on the NBA on CBS and most people under 40 have no idea about those times. I was disappointed and surprised that NBC won the rights to the NBA. By the 1990 NBA all star game, most fans already knew that NBC was taking over that next season. Dick Stockton reminded everybody in game 5 of the '90 NBA finals that if the Pistons won, that was it. Vinnie Johnson made the game winning shot and that was it, the NBA on CBS was all over. Some representatives or TV execs need to find a way to incorporate a few games(preseason or regular season) back to CBS.
1989- Pistons got revenge on the Lakers after losing the year before 2014-Spurs beat the Heat and got revenge after losing the year before 2016-Cavaliers got revenge on the Warriors after losing the year before
85 lakers got revenge on the Celtics for 84 and 83 76ers got revenge on la from 82...and 80...and revenge on Celtics for 81 ...79 sonics got revshe vs the bullets for 78...73 Knicks got revenge on lakers for 72...72 lakers got revenge on knicks for 70....2011 mavs got revenge on heat for 2006...2006 heat got revenge for 2005 vs Detroit
William Daniel another thing that makes today’s nba is the media and the fans spend too much time talking about where free agents will play next season and today’s game has overhyped players like Zion and Lebron that get too much attention. It’s also bad that bronny’s high school games are a major storyline.
That pistons bad boys team was hungry and looking for redemption after the classic finals loss to the lakers the previous year in 1988... This would be rick mahorns final game with the pistons..after the pistons parade the bad boys slowly began to fall down...wish the pistons could've kept rick mahorn...rip chuck daly and jack mccloskey...
The Bad Boys pretty much ended the Celtic/Lakers stranglehold of the league. Then they got ended by the Bulls. The era 1980 up until 1998 was insane. So many talented players and so many good teams
The final catalyst for this title was trading Dantley for Aguirre. That was the move they needed. And if the pistons had lost, everyone would’ve blamed that trade. Thankfully for them it worked out because with the way Dantley and Isiah Thomas weren’t getting along, they probably wouldn’t have won those two championships.
0:22 I wished there was a shot above the courts to see if the Lakers shook the Pistons hands or if they walked off. At least they didn’t walk off before the game was over. How is Pat Riley here 0:44 walking off and then here 0:54 shaking Daly’s hand?
Isiah was his best friend and it was far from the first time. Kareem and Pat Riley congratulated the Sixers way back in 1983. It's called class, something you internet dickwads seem to lack.
I always had that same thought. Wait until the cameras stop rolling and Brent Musberger leaves. THEN congratulate Isiah Thomas and the crew. It looks thirsty and grandstanding.
Magic with one of the classiest moves ive seen
At the end of the day, Isiah and Mark were his boys. I think having five of em made losing out on a sixth A LOT easier to handle, especially if it meant guys you loved as brothers were winning.
Bad Boys! Bad Boys! Bad Boys! LOVE IT! I graduated high school that year, and this was so special. The eighties and nineties were the best!
this never gets old!!!

@@razkable oh shut up casual. A championship is a championship and they had to battle to even get to that spot. Let alone to win it.
@@lcgaming3937 Amen!!! He's either a Smeltics fan or a Jordansexual.
Notice how Magic didn't mention the Lakers injuries at all? No excuses, praise the team that beat you
TL2354 I was thinking the same thing

Asmosis Jones: Agreed. Detroit should have won in '88 as well!
Pure class.
Brian Cusack no the lakers were just better

Happy for John Long, who was there for the lean years and returned to get his ring.
The vast majority of that decade, it was either Larry Bird and the Celtics or Magic Johnson and the Lakers. Detroit ended both of their reigns and put Chicago's reign on hold.
Pistons redeemed and got revenge on the Lakers.

Full Circle for The Bad Boys!

I REALLLY hate seeing the owners raising the championship trophy FIRST
Rick Brees hey they own the team they own the trophy
For What Mr Davison has done for the Pistons he deserved to get the trophy first
Go Detroit Pistons.
Bad boys for life!
Really cool video
A nine year old Chris, loved this team
Gotta respect Detroit...hated to see Kareem go out like that...but the better team won...
ya their defence really defanged Michael, no lie in that! (he eventually took it personally)
Also congrats to them for setting that defensive record!
Micheal Williams uncorking a champagne bottle in his own face at 4:55 😆

Damn these announcers are dry. They barely acknowledged the Pistons as champions.
it was more about kareem but yeah
wow back then players werent salty and go congratulate the winner in their own locker room

Why go into the champions locker or into their celebration...damn, Magic loved the limelight!

Lol Isaiah 😂😂😂😂😂😂
RODMAN
Damn the Lakers peed hard in this Championship series. I couldn't go to the opposing team's lockeroom after peeing like that.
Really their 2nd. Robbed with a phantom call in 1988.
Is it me or does this announce team sound dry about the Pistons winning the championship?
Because they were the most hated team.
Tainted championship no magic no Scott *
