Such a great point on scaling dosages younger. Thank you for raising some awareness of that reality. I think the main biases that steer all advice to do it as you're experienced are 1) the general harm reduction gatekeeping bias you see online but that isn't so much a reality among competitors and people actually achieving a physique - the disconnect between online image and reality of what goes on and what it takes to achieve things. and 2) the fact that its mostly those who've 'made' it giving that advice. It's easy to say titrate up from 200mg for a year to a peak of 500-600mg a la J3U style advice when you aren't the one 'needing'/going to do it. Same way the general consensus online is start gear at 25 or older, when we all know anyone serious hasn't a hell's chance of ever suceeding competititvely if they do that unless they go nuts out of the gate at 25 and have genetics to offset the time lost. I wasted my entire 20's due to it. also, at a younger age you have the health to tolerate more - so it's kind of in reverse to reality to think dosages can scale higher as you age. I think you're spot on here in that as long as you measure health, you can control it regardless of what age you start ramping dosages, so there's no reason to wait outside of 'moral' ones people make up to look ethical. p.s enjoying the podcasts so far - looking forward to more of them!
@@astarpery6260 these are all excellent observations and looking back I wish I did things this way. So often the people that have made it, like you mentioned, are giving advice they didn’t actually take themselves. We have high level pro’s that are known simply because of their physique (which was built on blasting high doses and eating tons of food) telling you to take 600mg of gear and only eat what a “healthy gut” allows. It’s a good way to end up not looking like that person that’s giving the advice.
@@j.pirch23 Absolutely. The disconnect is incredible. Similar confusion about dosages happens due to the misunderstanding of what it takes to build vs. maintain as well. Like you've alluded to, it actually makes sense that a pro might be taking lower doses at the peak of development when they're older if they no longer need to push.....because they've built the damn physique, and maintaining doesn't require the same dose. Like when CBum mentioned he was taking 500mg - yes, likely he was, because he was at a weight cap and didn't need to push. The issue is when people think that's what he's saying he built his physique on, which of course is automatically assumed and isn't helped by the fact the pro's never clarify that distinction.
@most pro bodybuilders are offering a coaching service so there’s a huge incentive to say they are using much less than they really are. 1 it makes them more relatable and 2 it leads people to believe they have the secret recipe if they’re that big on low drugs. Besides that, most people lie about how much they’re on or have taken because it makes them look special. If you hear somebody got open bodybuilding big on 700mg total, WOA! they must be a freak
@@j.pirch23 Ha, I hadn't even thought of the coaching service incentive angle, particularly of how it might make them more relatable. Thanks for the insight!
