I am constantly amazed at the speed and quality of food every time I eat in the main dining room when you consider how many people are seated for a meal at one time! Compliments to every Chef, Helper and Server that helps to make our cruises so special! Looking forward to our next RCI Cruise in August!

The scale of these ships is just absolutely remarkable. I spent about 10 months cruising last year, and I’m still absolutely AMAZED at the volume they’re able to pump out - amazing!

Love the comment about how clean and orgainzied these kitchens are vs on land. Tends to make you uneasy now about going out to the next local diner to have dinner......

So much food, what a challenge.
Thank you for the interesting video, great that reduction of food waste is a focus on Icon and throughout Royal Caribbean.
I wouldn't have thought that such an amount of additional 'in case' food supplies would be required - an eye-opening video.

So much beautifully prepared food! As long as people eat it, thats fine, but I hate it when people waste food.

I've always imagined what it would be like working in the kitchen of of one of these ships. They do so much. But now I'm curious on food cut by water pressure. How that is going to work

This is fascinating! There are so many different types of food available. It's easy for everyone to find something that they like. I'd like to take a galley tour on my next RC cruises in a few months.

All I know is that by the end of the cruise, the orange juice coming out of those help yourself machines is pretty much just water. LOL

Matt, I havent seen a galley that spotless since Navy bootcamp in Orlando back in the late 80s. Even on ship they were never as clean as bootcamp. Its how they in part train attention to detail.
Great behind the scenes video btw. Love the information. Now can you get some engineering spaces for an old engineroom snipe? :-)

I am most impressed with hiring all the staff and to train them for multiple job responsibilities. I do know they do use an all diverse staff but still amazing to get this done as we all know our expectations are very high on service when on a Cruise

I've always wondered if the first day is kinda of a "test" for the guests, to see what people like. They may predict that people will want more Mexican food, but do they validate that with some dishes in the Windjammer? For example, they see how popular tacos are on the first day.

I am most struck by how many grueling jobs on board never have any direct passenger contact. This extends well beyond food service, and highlights for me the many problems with the gratuity system as it exists today.

On our recent Carnival cruise my daughter got a small dot of dirt on her passport picture and customs came and got her out of her room and took her off the ship. She text me they were taking her off the ship and she didn’t know why. I rushed to her room but they had already taken her, guest services had someone let us in the room to get my granddaughter who was still asleep. Guest services weren’t able to give us any information as to why they took my daughter off the ship so yes I was completely worried. This lasted about an hour before she was brought back, she then explained what happened. We missed our swimming with the dolphins excursion time slot but luckily we were able to book one for the island stop the next day. For some reason she had to go to customs each day every stop and when we returned to get off the ship, so we had to wait about another hour upon returning to depart the ship. Adding to this video, Don’t Get Dirt On Your Passport Picture, not even a small dot or a smudge while cruising.

I have been on rc twice in the last 3 months. Both freedom class ships. The food was bad period. On both ships. Im not super picky but when your room service is consistently cold and you hear others in the mdr complain as well its a problem. Windjammer was the only place to get ok food due to variety. Went to chops but it was as good as applebees food wise. Def not a real jacket and tie establishment. I was on carnival in dec and the food was much better. I prefer royal but the quality has diminished.

I'm sure it's easier, but I'm really put off by the use of AI for thumbnails. Just looks really off-putting to me, not even counting that AI image generators steal works from real artists

    • @AmandaMolly
      @AmandaMolly 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

How is their thumbnails using AI generators? Matt and his team actually take photos on each sailing lol. This is about food on RCL not about AI generators. I hate how everyone using them for photos to script writing and even for video ideas. Matt was recently on Icon of The Seas during a preview sailing.
