Ellis admitting it was indeed stamps that he bought "Neeeerd" It was the anniversary of games workshop he said "Oh so you're a mega nerd then" were my next words 😂
Aside my friend bullying me for awaiting my favorite British people podcast, I loved getting flashbanged by Nick every time it switched to his camera He’s just a bright white square of Kiwi in all these standard streamer lighting Brits
Honestly, i wouldn't mind if the Panel on the left gets cut in 2 and Nick gets to be on the Podcast as a permanent 6th Member. Could listen to him all day
My mum is on a facebook group that is dedicated to mocking ridiculous baby names and ive seen so many names like nevaeh (heaven backwards) But one name i didnt think id see was... alucard (dracula backwards) I feel so bad for that kid
I love being an American listening to this podcast cause I go from total understanding to all of a sudden listening to biscuits and tea and having zero comprehension of what they’re talking about but I’m enjoying the ride
I ran into quite a huge problem with tax during my first job. Because the company apparently hadn't done something the way they were supposed to, I was being taxed even though I worked minimum wage. I had to constantly pursue the issue with them, consistently got given the run around, told by everyone I phoned that it was someone else's fault, and it wasn't until I left there and moved to the other side of the country that I received my P45 and was issued £600 in tax that shouldn't have been taken
A small fact for Ellis to research, as he mentioned Fanta... Fanta was created by a German Businessman during WWII, as an alternative to Coca Cola. No war... no Fanta!
Speaking of weird laws, there was a law in my state of the US that you couldn’t walk down a road with an ice cream cone in your back pocket. The reasoning was (back in the 1800s) people could lure horses away from their owners by doing that.
the D in D-Day doesn't really stand for anything, it's short for the military phrase 'H-hour, D-day', which means the time and day an operation (such as Overlord or Market Garden) is scheduled to commence. As an aside, hope Gabby is doing well though, or at least that she feels better soon. And I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Ellis on the topic of making tea :P
In austria the highest tax bracket is 55% for people who make over 1mil€ per year. But, for example, uni is entirely free for the minimum study time + 2 semesters tolerance and after that is costs like 300€ per semester.
about the tax rate, you only pay the higher rate on the amount of money that exceeds the lower tax rate limit, not the entire amount. It does however lead to situations where it is more beneficial monetary to decline a payrise because of this. this situation only occurs when you pretty much end up on the cutoff line between the rates.
6:10 i don't want to sound like a wellllll ACKTUALLY person, but actually the tax brackets don't work like that. over 40k, you're only taxed higher on the money you make above that. for example: if you earn 41k, 40k of that is taxed normally, and 1k at the higher rate. ... i sound like a taxes nerd. damn...
So myself and the wife saw the second hobbit film in 4d, the scene where they're in the barrels going down the river was bloody painful 😂 was hilarious because a guy a few seats to my right decided to take a drink right as the seats started shaking around, safe to say his drink went all over him 😂
Im sorry but the reception the garibaldi biscuit received was criminally underwhelming. Thank you Cath for being the voice of reason and championing the good name of the Garibaldi and celebrating it for the legendary, timeless and delicious biscuit it is, shame on the rest of you!
I'm gonna do a "well actually to Ellis. 45+% Tax isn't, in actuality, 50% of your income. The average income for, say an engineer, only equates to just over £4600 from 35½ grand a year
about the cinema thing. i not wondering why it's dying. not just streaming is much cheaper but quality that you expect is just not there huh.... also story about elon is funny but is it true that his parent is a billionare? are you sure? last time i check his father company went bankrupt when he still a student and he have to work and support his father at that time too... about tesla i only know on the surface like other people that 2 people Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning is the original founder and elon joining in later. but people tend to forget that elon stake his life saving in this company too. not that he come to this company and just take it over.

If it were illegal to linger after a funeral in the United States, Midwesterners would never see the outside of a jail cell!
My issue with taxes is when I or my family has to pay them but other people don’t.
